Chapter 472: Four hundred seventy, Competition (3)
Elder Xu finally regained his composure and addressed the two elders from Qingfeng Academy, "The records have clearly stated that Luo Shu’s cultivation only declined because of an injury, and it’s not as you suggested, that she was concealing her cultivation. Do you have any more questions?"
The Qingfeng Academy elder who had reprimanded Luo Shu and caused her to leave Qingfeng Academy stepped forward, cupped his hands and said, "Elder Xu, I can accept that Luo Shu’s cultivation decreased due to an injury. But for her to recover from the Foundation Establishment Primary Stage to the Mid Stage Nascent Soul in just half a month, isn’t that a bit too exaggerated?"
"Exaggerated?" Elder Xu sneered coldly, "Is there anything more exaggerated than a nineteen-year-old Peak Nascent Soul Cultivator?" If Luo Shu could accomplish such an exaggerated feat, then what was half a month’s recovery of her current cultivation?
"So, what’s the verdict? Has Luo Shu’s qualification for the competition been revoked?" Seeing the two companions return, the other two elders from Qingfeng Academy stared at them eagerly.
Noticing that the expressions of the two were somewhat off, as if they had been greatly shaken, the two elders showed surprise.
"What happened to you? What’s going on?"
"Could it be that Luo Shu has some formidable background? But that’s impossible!"
The elder who had driven away Luo Shu shook his head with an ugly expression, "Luo Shu, she is a nineteen-year-old Peak Nascent Soul Cultivator." If he had known this earlier, even if Luo Shu had hit him, he would not have driven her out of Qingfeng Academy. But it was too late to regret, and now regret was futile.
"What?!" The two elders were shocked, their eyes widening in disbelief. Even a ninety-year-old Peak Nascent Soul Cultivator would have been shocking enough, let alone a nineteen-year-old one. Was he not joking?
"The City Lord himself testified to it, there can be no mistake," replied the elder who previously registered the contestants, his face full of regret. If time could be reversed, he would definitely do everything in his power to keep Luo Shu at Qingfeng Academy.
"It’s all because of Li Yuyang. If he hadn’t provoked Luo Shu, why would she have left Qingfeng Academy?" The elder who had chased away Luo Shu said resentfully. If Li Yuyang were here now, he would not hesitate to flay him alive.
"Sigh," the other three sighed in unison. What was the point of blaming Li Yuyang now? Moreover, Li Yuyang was about to participate in the next Talisman Crafting Competition; perhaps he could defeat Luo Shu. After all, in Jiaye City, Li Yuyang was somewhat famous as a talisman crafting prodigy.
Not long after the first competition had ended, the grey-robed elder announced that the participants of the second competition should take their places in preparation for the start of the second Talisman Crafting Competition.
"Good luck! You can definitely do it!"
"We have faith in you!"
The people of Upper Pavilion cheered on Luo Shu and others as they prepared to ascend the stage. Having won the first competition, they felt no psychological burden about this one. Luo Shu had already obtained first place in the alchemy competition, not to mention talisman crafting, which was her forte.
Luo Shu once again took her place. At this moment, whether it was the crowd below, the contestants upon the stage, or the judges in their seats, all eyes were on Luo Shu. They all wanted to see if she would bring them another surprise in this competition.
Li Yuyang glared at Luo Shu with venomous eyes. He hated Luo Shu to the core and wished she would disappear from this world forever. He had to win this competition; only by winning could he have a chance at revenge, humiliate Luo Shu, and even kill her.
Even if he truly failed, he still had another chance because he had already found out that Luo Shu was participating in not only alchemy and talisman crafting but also in Formation and strength battles. He had also signed up for the strength battle, which was a genuine clash of might where the use of Formations, talismans, and other auxiliary methods was absolutely forbidden.
The grey-robed elder stepped forward and, after saying a few words, again brought out the materials required for the competition, "The competition begins now, and the allotted time is one Shichen."
As the grey-robed elder announced the start, everyone commenced their talisman crafting. Talisman crafting was not like alchemy; it depended on the cultivator’s mastery of runes. The more perfectly the runes were inscribed, the higher the level of the talisman would be.
About half an hour in, Luo Shu stopped her talisman crafting and placed the completed talisman on the table.
"It looks like we’re going to lose this competition as well," said one of the Qingfeng Academy elders, shaking his head with a grim expression as he glanced at Li Yuyang.
"It’s not over yet, the outcome of the competition is still uncertain," another elder said. In reality, he knew their chances of winning were slim, but he really couldn’t accept defeat! He was eager to see the grade of the talismans Luo Shu had crafted but was unable to probe with his Divine Sense due to the Formations set up all around the high platform of the competition.
"That little freak is going to win again," Mo Qingli said with a chuckle, watching Luo Shu on the stage.
"She’s here to crush people’s morale," said Elder Xu with a wry smile. Even at his age, it was the first time he had encountered such a phenomenon.
"Upper Pavilion has truly found a treasure this time!"
Mo Lixu stopped his actions and turned his head to look at Luo Shu not far away, seeing her resting with her eyes closed; he couldn’t help but smile and shake his head, recalling the competition back at Upper Pavilion.
Turning his gaze back, he looked at Li Yuyang who was in front of him, noticing that he had also finished his talisman crafting.
Li Yuyang, catching Mo Lixu looking at him, smiled provocatively. The grade of the talisman he had crafted this time was not low; he was determined not only to defeat Mo Lixu but also to trample Luo Shu under his feet and show everyone who the number one Talisman Crafting Grandmaster of Tianchi Country really was.
As time ticked away, the grey-robed elder stepped onto the stage again and announced, "Time’s up! Everyone, please stop your work!"
Everyone stopped their actions; some were brimming with confidence, while others had faces filled with disappointment. But no matter the outcome, it was time to face it.
Similar to the previous competition, six black-robed Cultivators ascended the stage to record the results.
The judges in the referee seats, eager to see Luo Shu’s results as soon as the competition records were handed over, said,
"What level is that little freak’s talisman? Show me quickly!" Mo Qingli grabbed the record book and directly searched for Luo Shu’s name, "Oh wow! Truly freakish beyond belief, hahaha..."
Upon hearing this, everyone else hurriedly took the record book from Mo Qingli’s hands with curiosity.
"A Top-Quality, Heaven Rank, Level One Illusionary Spirit Talisman, huh! It seems the results of this competition are already clear."
"I’m really looking forward to the next two competitions and performance of that little freak."
"Me too, but unfortunately, we have to wait until tomorrow."
As the people in the referee seats began tallying the results, the crowd below was also abuzz with discussion.
