Chapter 400: Three hundred ninety-nine, ballroom

The young man at the side sneered disdainfully and opened his mouth to spit again, but a large lump flew into his mouth, choking him into a fit of coughing.

"Serves you right!" Mu Wan felt a great sense of satisfaction hearing the young man’s severe coughing.

Luo Shu smiled and turned her attention back to the movie playing in front of her.

The movies now didn’t have a lot of special effects or flashy stuff, but the acting was so genuine and good that it captivated you the entire time.

When the movie ended, the house lights came on.

Mu Wan, worried she might accidentally step on something on the floor, had kept her feet suspended throughout the movie. Now that the lights in the theater were on, she looked down only to be surprised to find nothing there, not even the melon seed shells the young man had been eating. What happened here? Could it be that the young man hadn’t spit them on the floor?

"Let’s go," Luo Shu said with a smile to the still dazed Mu Wan.

Mu Wan nodded blankly and looked at where the young man had been sitting, finding a large pile of melon seed shells on the ground. How strange!

"Mu Wan!" Mu Wan’s two classmates caught up to her.

"Mu Wan, are you going home now?" Li Yaoyao asked.

"Yeah," Mu Wan replied with a smile, nodding. She and Luo Shu had been out since the morning, and after spending half the day around, they had pretty much visited all the shops on the street.

"There’s a disco hall that just opened up in the city, it’s supposed to be a lot of fun. Fang Yuan and I were just about to check it out, do you two want to come with us?" Li Yaoyao’s face held a touch of excitement. She and Fang Yuan would’ve already been there if it weren’t for the movie today, which she had been eagerly anticipating, so she planned to visit the dance hall after the movie.

"What’s a disco hall?" Mu Wan asked curiously. This was the first time she had heard of such a place.

"It’s a place where you dance, disco is really ’Fire’ right now, and it’s so invigorating when you dance. A lot of our classmates have gone there, and it’s said to be a lot of fun," Fang Yuan said with excitement in his voice.

Mu Wan felt tempted and looked at Luo Shu beside her, "Luo Shu, let’s go check it out together."

"Sure!" Luo Shu agreed with a smile. She was quite curious about the dance halls of this era.

Under Li Yaoyao’s guidance, the four of them arrived at the disco hall in the East City District.

This dance hall was very discreetly located, and had it not been for Li Yaoyao’s knowledge of the exact location, it would have taken them quite a while to find it.

As the four of them walked into the hall, they immediately saw many young people wearing bell-bottoms and sporting afros dancing wildly inside, performing the very distinctive disco dance of the era.

Luo Shu gave the place a quick glance. The dance hall now was basically a dark room with some lights, music playing, and everyone twisting their bodies to the beat. It couldn’t compare to the disco halls of the future with their intense lighting and blasting music, but the atmosphere was great.

"Is that disco they’re dancing? It looks so fun!" Mu Wan began to sway with the music. She was usually dancing ballroom dances at parties and had never seen this kind of energetic dance before.

"Luo Shu, come on and dance with us," Mu Wan said, grabbing Luo Shu’s hand to pull her into the crowd.

Luo Shu shook her head with a smile, "You go ahead and dance, I’ll just watch." She wasn’t all that interested in dancing.

"It’s really fun, just give it a try!" Mu Wan had already found joy in this new and fascinating dance.

"Bang!" Just then, the doors to the dance hall were kicked open, and a large group of Public Security Officers in white uniforms swarmed in.

"Nobody move!" the leading officer commanded sternly to everyone present.

Seeing so many officers rushing in, Luo Shu immediately remembered something important.

With the lights fully on, everyone’s faces were filled with bewilderment and confusion. They didn’t understand why dancing would cause such a large number of Public Security Officers to rush in.

"Take all of them away!" the leading officer ordered his subordinates.

Upon his command, the officers immediately charged toward the crowd.

"Why are you arresting us? We haven’t done anything wrong."

"We’re just dancing, we’re not committing any crimes."

"If you’re arresting us, at least give us a reason."

"Someone reported you for engaging in disorderly conduct," the officer said coldly.

"We were only dancing, when did we engage in disorderly conduct."

"That’s right, you’re slandering us."

Although the crowd was indignant, most of them were young people who had not yet truly entered society and had never seen such a show of force. After being lectured by the security officers, they became compliant.

"Luo Shu, what do we do now?" Mu Wan asked fearfully. She had never encountered such a situation and was already panicked.

"It’s going to be okay!" Luo Shu patted Mu Wan’s shoulder and reassured her softly.

After being led out of the dance hall, everyone was put onto a large truck and taken to the nearby Public Security Office.

At the Public Security Office, everyone was taken off the truck and then led away for interrogation one by one.

"You, come with me!" an officer approached Luo Shu and said.

"Luo Shu!" Mu Wan said in a panic, clutching Luo Shu’s hand. She regretted it now; if she hadn’t insisted on dragging Luo Shu to the dance hall, Luo Shu wouldn’t have been involved.

"Nothing will happen," Luo Shu gave Mu Wan a reassuring look and followed the officer to the interrogation room.

"Luo Shu, how did you end up here?" Chen Zhihe asked in surprise.

"I went to the newly opened dance hall with a friend, and then I was brought here," Luo Shu said helplessly. She naturally knew about Chen Zhihe being transferred to the city.

In Cloud City, Luo Shu’s status was unmatched by anyone, not only was she the life-saving benefactor of the Cloud City citizens, but she was also the economic pillar of Cloud City. Without Luo Shu’s Tenglong Group, Cloud City’s economy wouldn’t have developed so fast, and the employment rate wouldn’t be so high.
