Chapter 398: Three hundred ninety-seven, siblings
Luo Shu pushed open the gate and entered.
Seeing Luo Shu come in, the two youths practicing the Five Animal Frolics froze for a moment. They had just been talking about her and never expected her to return so soon.
"Big sister!" Luo Zheng exclaimed as he walked up to her.
Luo Shu smiled as she sized up Luo Zheng, "You’ve gotten a lot stronger." His strength had now reached the Yellow Level Late Stage. He had become an Ancient Martial Artist, but he was unaware of it.
"Big sister, I got into Jiangzhou Guard School, and so did Qin Che," Luo Zheng joyfully announced. He hoped his big sister would be happy for him.
"That’s great, keep it up!" Luo Shu said, patting Luo Zheng on the shoulder encouragingly.
She turned to look at Qin Che. "Same goes for you!" Qin Che’s strength was a bit stronger than Luo Zheng’s, as he had reached the Mysterious Level Primary Stage. With their current strengths, entering the Guard School promised a limitless future.
Luo Zheng nodded excitedly. "Big sister, where have you been all this time? I was worried I wouldn’t see you again before I went to the Guard School."
"I went on a trip. When do you leave? I’ll see you off," Luo Shu said. After all, Luo Zheng was her cousin, and she felt obliged to make arrangements for him as he went to study in Jiangzhou.
"Next Friday." Hearing that Luo Shu would see him off filled Luo Zheng with excitement and joy.
"I got it! Continue with your training," Luo Shu said with a smile, heading inside the house. She needed to make a few phone calls. It had been a long time since she had seen Mu Wan, and naturally, she wanted to meet up now that she was back in Cloud City. She also had to call her dormitory pals and let them know she was safe.
Mu Wan was lying on her bed reading a novel when the phone beside her bed rang. She picked it up casually, "Hello!"
"Mu Wan, it’s Luo Shu." Luo Shu recognized Mu Wan’s voice instantly.
Mu Wan paused for two seconds, then sat up happily, "You’ve finally shown up. Where have you been all these days? Why was your phone unanswered?"
"I went traveling. I just got back to Cloud City today. Do you want to hang out tomorrow?" Luo Shu asked with a laugh.
"Sure! I haven’t been shopping in ages. Let’s go shopping," Mu Wan said cheerfully. She had been cooped up at home reading novels because of the hot weather.
"Then I’ll pick you up at your house at nine o’clock tomorrow morning," Luo Shu said.
"Okay! Then we’ll meet at nine sharp." Mu Wan was happy to agree.
After hanging up the phone with Mu Wan, Luo Shu called Wang Fei’s home. Wang Fei’s mother answered, and upon hearing the call was from her, she quickly went to get Wang Fei to take the call.
Wang Fei, hearing from her mother that Luo Shu was on the line, was somewhat disbelieving. She picked up the bedside phone, and only upon hearing Luo Shu’s voice did she finally believe it. "Where have you been messing around these past few months? Confess, or you’ll face the family law." Luo Shu had disappeared for a few months, causing their dorm mates to worry.
"I took a trip. There was no phone there so I couldn’t contact you all. Sorry for making you worry!" Luo Shu said apologetically.
"Did you go with your family’s Lu Hanmo? I heard from Mo Shaoze that he took a long vacation," Wang Fei said with a laugh.
"Mhm! When school starts and there’s time, I’ll introduce him to you all," Luo Shu said. If she and Hanmo were to get married, they might not even have to wait for the school term to start. Hanmo had said he was already preparing their wedding. He wanted to marry her before the school term.
"That sounds great! I’m really curious about the legendary Lu Hanmo!" Wang Fei said happily, "Oh right, this Sunday, Yujuan and Li Hui are getting engaged. She invited us all. Are you free?"
"I’m free then, we’ll go together," Luo Shu said with a smile. Although it wasn’t a marriage, seeing Meng Yujuan and Li Hui settle down made her happy for them.
"Let’s take the train the day after tomorrow then. We’ll go to Yujuan’s home," Wang Fei suggested. It was said that Yujuan’s engagement had come about rather swiftly due to her Big Uncle’s wishes.
Last New Year, Yujuan brought Li Hui to her family home. Upon seeing that Li Hui was a city boy, Yujuan’s Big Uncle urged her parents to let Yujuan tie the knot with Li Hui early. He was worried that if Li Hui changed his mind and no longer wanted Yujuan, her reputation would be ruined. Her parents agreed it made sense, and that led to the engagement arrangement.
"Sure! How are things between you and Mo Shaoze now?" Luo Shu brought up Mo Shaoze since Wang Fei had mentioned him earlier.
Wang Fei sighed, "It’s the same, just friends." She could tell Mo Shaoze didn’t have that kind of interest in her.
"Don’t be too forceful about some things or you’ll end up hurting yourself," Luo Shu advised. Both Wang Fei and Mo Shaoze were her friends, and she didn’t want to see them end up resenting each other over love.
"I know, don’t worry," Wang Fei said with a chuckle. She currently just had a good impression of Mo Shaoze and was not at the point of feeling he was irreplaceable. If another attempt didn’t work out, she would maintain their current friendship.
After chatting with Wang Fei for a while, Luo Shu hung up the phone. Since everyone from the dorm was going to Meng Yujuan’s home, there was no need to call each of them individually.
Aunt Chen was washing clothes in the yard when she heard someone knocking at the door. She put down the clothes in her hands and moved forward to open it.
"Luo Shu! You’re back!" Aunt Chen’s face lit up with disbelief as she recognized the person outside.
"Aunt Chen! It’s been a long time! How have you been?" Luo Shu greeted her smilingly. Time flew by so fast; she had rented a place at Aunt Chen’s house when she first left Luo Family Village. Not much had changed at Aunt Chen’s place, but the three siblings had gone through so many changes.
"I’m doing well! Come in and sit down," Aunt Chen said with a smile, moving aside to let Luo Shu in.
As Luo Shu walked into the yard, Uncle Chen, hearing the commotion, came outside and greeted her with a smile, "Young miss!"
"Luo Shu has come! Come inside and sit. It’s quite hot today; it gets so warm so early in the morning," Uncle Chen said, wiping sweat from his forehead. He had broken out in a sweat without doing much.
The three of them walked into the house, and Luo Shu put the gifts and pills she brought on the Eight Immortal’s table. Seeing Aunt Chen about to pour water, she spoke up, "Aunt Chen, no need to fuss, I’ll be leaving in a bit. I made arrangements to meet someone at nine."
"You’re such a busy person!" Aunt Chen chimed in with a laugh, and knowing Luo Shu’s character from their long acquaintance — and realizing that Luo Shu wasn’t just being polite — she didn’t continue to offer her water.
