Chapter 376: Three hundred seventy-five, Competition (3)

Hearing the intermission, Chen Xiaomeng and her group could no longer restrain themselves and rushed down from the auditorium.

"Luo Shu, you were really amazing!"

"We were all blown away by you, how can you be so impressive?"

"Exactly, how did you manage to diagnose those patients’ conditions?" Everyone looked at Luo Shu excitedly and eagerly, with their eyes filled with admiration.

Luo Shu smiled and pointed to his eyes, "With my eyes. Isn’t there something called diagnostic observation in ancient medicine?"

"Even with looking it takes time, how did you do it so quickly?"

Luo Shu smirked and leaned towards the group, whispering, "I had already started observing them when those patients were brought in. Everything else was just a formality, get it?"

"Yeah! But it’s still so awesome! It’s really hard to imagine."

"Luo Shu, have some water and eat something to replenish your strength." Chen Xiaomeng took out a cup of cool boiled water and a piece of bread from her bag and handed them to Luo Shu. She had seen on TV that fighters needed to drink water to replenish their energy, so she prepared them for Luo Shu as well.

"Thanks a lot!" Luo Shu smiled as he took the water and started drinking.

"It’s about time, let’s head back, Luo Shu, go for it!"

"Defeat Ouyang Yi, you can definitely do it, we believe in you!"

"When you win, we’ll treat you to a big meal."

"Great!" Luo Shu smiled confidently at everyone.

The principal looked at his watch and stood up, stating, "Now I will announce the rules for the third competition. The third match will focus on acupuncture, and the subjects will be the same ten patients from before. We have prepared ten sets of sterilized Silver Needles for the two contestants. The contestants will use Silver Needles to perform acupuncture on all the patients. Whoever finishes first and cures more patients will be the winner. Do the two of you have any questions?" he asked, looking at Luo Shu and Ouyang Yi.

"No!" Luo Shu and Ouyang Yi shook their heads.

The principal nodded and declared, "The match begins!"

Luo Shu and Ouyang Yi walked towards the ten patients and reached for the sterilized Silver Needles on the tray in their hands.

Then, before the audience could react, they had already moved towards the second patient. When they turned to look at the first patient, they saw that Silver Needles had already been inserted into their body.

Before the crowd could marvel, they saw Luo Shu and Ouyang Yi already facing the fifth patient. The two moved at a pace that matched each other, so fast that their hand movements were barely visible, and Silver Needles were swiftly inserted into the fifth patient.

The mouths and eyes of the audience grew wider and wider, their faces filled with disbelief. They could no longer describe what they were feeling inside. Because it was too shocking! Shocking to the extreme!

Luo Shu and Ouyang Yi almost finished inserting the needles at the same time, and without pausing, they walked back to the first patient and started removing the Silver Needles from their body.

"They’re removing the needles so quickly, it seems like it hasn’t been enough time to have a therapeutic effect?"

"Both of them are too eager for success. Although their needle-insertion skills are very skilled, I do not approve of them removing the needles so quickly, as it’s more harmful than beneficial for the patients."

"I think so too," several professors of ancient medical science discussed among themselves on the judges’ panel. With decades of immersion in ancient medical science, their knowledge of acupuncture was naturally profound.

While the professors were discussing, Luo Shu and Ouyang Yi had finished removing the needles and returned to their places. The speed of the two competitors was almost the same, but Luo Shu was still one or two seconds faster than Ouyang Yi.

Ouyang Yi glanced at Luo Shu and clenched his teeth unwillingly. It seemed that Luo Shu was tougher than he had imagined, and it wouldn’t be easy to beat her. He couldn’t fathom Luo Shu’s cultivation, but he felt that her cultivation must be higher than his.

The principal snapped out of his shock and said to the professors beside him, "Please go up and check the patient’s condition."

The professors nodded, stood up, and walked toward the stage. However, they weren’t optimistic about the outcome. The audience might only see Luo Shu and Ouyang Yi’s speedy performance and their spectacular needle techniques, but they overlooked the essence of acupuncture itself.

Professor Li approached the first patient. "How do you feel now?" he asked.

"Very relaxed!" the patient grinned. It had been a long time since he had felt so at ease.

Professor Li frowned slightly. "Give me your hand, I will take your pulse." To ascertain the patient’s exact condition, ancient medical science could be faster than modern medicine which required instruments; ancient medical doctors could diagnose from the pulse directly.

"Sure!" The patient nodded and handed his hand to Professor Li.

With furrowed brows, Professor Li took his pulse carefully, a hint of surprise in his eyes. How could this be?

"Switch hands," Professor Li said. He began to doubt his initial diagnosis.

After a while, he released the patient’s hand and moved to the second one. The result was still the same as before. Therefore, he decided to check the second patient’s condition before making conclusions.

But the second patient’s pulse was as regular and strong as the first one’s, showing no sign of illness.

Undeterred, he checked another patient, then another, until the last one. By then, Professor Li had no more doubts, only a heart full of shock and astonishment!

The professors didn’t even realize how they returned to their seats on the judges’ panel—such a result was completely beyond their comprehension.

"What are the results?" the principal asked when he noticed the silence of the professors.

Shen Qinglong looked on with curiosity. Not being one of the judges this time, he naturally couldn’t join them in diagnosing the patients, but he was truly eager to hear the outcome.

Professor Li looked up at both of them, still unable to recover from the results, and it wasn’t until the principal asked again that he answered, "Those patients have all fully recovered." Had it not been for the consensus among all the professors, he would have doubted his own diagnosis.

Upon hearing this, both the principal and Shen Qinglong were left dumbstruck.

"What’s wrong with the professors in the judges’ panel? Why aren’t they announcing the results? Surely not all the patients remained untreated?"

"That shouldn’t be possible! I was so excited just watching them!"

"Acupuncture requires the needles to be left in for a while, at least five to six minutes, to achieve therapeutic effects."

"Are you suggesting that we only saw their technique, but the outcome might not be satisfactory?"

"In theory, you’re right, but it’s hard to say with those two on the stage."
