Chapter 338: Three hundred thirty-seven, blind date
Wang Fei came home with her luggage and saw Mrs. Wang cooking in the kitchen.
She set down her luggage and walked toward the kitchen. "Mom! I’m back!"
Mrs. Wang turned her head and smiled at Wang Fei. "Are you tired? Go and rest; I’ll be done in a moment." Even though they had a maid, she was accustomed to cooking herself.
"I’m not tired. I’ll help you wash the vegetables." Seeing that there were unwashed vegetables in the sink, Wang Fei went over and began to wash them.
"When did you suddenly become so sensible?" Mrs. Wang said with a smile, feeling pleased.
"Because I’m all grown up now," Wang Fei said carefully washing the greens in the sink. This was her first time washing vegetables, and she would have to learn to cook eventually. Whether it was her dorm mates or novels, they all said that to catch a man’s heart, you had to catch his stomach first. Although she did not know what would happen with Mo Shaoze after this blind date, she would eventually have to marry someone.
She turned her head and smiled at her mother. The fact that Dad came home on time every day had a lot to do with the meals Mom cooked.
"Why are you grinning like a fool?" Mrs. Wang saw Wang Fei grinning at her and asked with a laugh.
"Mom! Teach me how to cook," Wang Fei said with a smile.
"What’s gotten into you today? Why are you suddenly helping with the vegetables and now wanting to learn cooking? Did something happen?" Mrs. Wang looked at Wang Fei with a trace of worry in her eyes.
"Not at all! I just feel that I’ve grown up and it’s time to start learning some things," Wang Fei retorted sweetly.
"Right! You’re about to be married. You should indeed learn how to be a good wife and mother," Mrs. Wang teased with a smile.
Blushing, Wang Fei stomped her foot coquettishly. "Mom! If you keep this up, I won’t talk to you!"
Mrs. Wang laughed for a while and, seeing Wang Fei’s face turning almost red enough to drip blood, stopped and said, "Alright! Let’s not talk about that. Tell me about your dormitory instead, how are you getting along with your roommates?"
"My dorm mates are great! We go shopping together, celebrate birthdays together, and this time when I was buying clothes, it was my roommate who fronted the money for me." Speaking of her dorm mates, Wang Fei’s face was full of happy smiles.
"That’s good! Invite them over to our house when you have time," Mrs. Wang said as she took a plate and scooped the cooked dish onto it.
Wang Fei nodded, "One of my roommates is good at medicine, really good at it." She truly admired Luo Shu.
"Really? Then next time bring her to give your grandmother a checkup; she hasn’t been feeling well lately," Mrs. Wang said with a smile. In fact, she was just speaking casually; her daughter’s roommate was after all a student. Could her medical skills really be better than a hospital doctor’s?
"Okay! I’ll talk to her on Monday. Mom! Don’t forget the money for the clothes I bought; I need to pay Luo Shu back on Monday," Wang Fei said. She suddenly felt that she should find a job first and not always ask her parents for money.
"How much? I’ll get it for you now, so I don’t forget later," Mrs. Wang said, putting the washed pot back on the stove and wiping her hands with a towel, ready to get the money for Wang Fei first.
"Four hundred eighty," Wang Fei said. It was also the first time she had bought such expensive clothes, but they really looked good!
Mrs. Wang was taken aback at the mention of the price, "That does seem a bit expensive, let me see what kind of clothes it is." As long as her daughter liked it, she wouldn’t mind the cost. She just worried that her daughter might be getting cheated by the store.
"Sure!" Wang Fei walked aside, dried her hands with a towel to remove any water stains, and led her mother toward the living room.
Taking out the clothes she had just bought from her luggage, Wang Fei held them up in front of her and smiled at her mother, "Mom, do you think it looks good? My roommate helped me pick it out!"
Mrs. Wang’s eyes lit up at the sight of the clothes, "Not bad! They seem very suitable for you. Your roommate has quite good taste." She started feeling the impulse to meet her daughter’s roommate.
"Of course!" Wang Fei said, laughing as she folded the clothes and placed them back in her luggage, one hand holding the bag while the other arm looped through Mrs. Wang’s, "Mom! Let’s go upstairs, I’ll try them on for you to see."
Mo Shaoze walked into the restaurant and headed straight to the agreed-upon spot. He planned to have a meal with the other party and then leave—after all, he had shown up, so his task was as good as done.
Seeing Mo Shaoze walking towards her, Wang Fei’s heart uncontrollably started pounding. Could he be that guy, Mo Shaoze? He looked similar to how Luo Shu had described him.
Mo Shaoze sat down opposite Wang Fei, sizing her up, and a mischievous smile curled on his thin lips, "I’m Mo Shaoze. You must be Wang Fei, right?" She was decent-looking, but not quite his ideal match.
"Yes, hello!" Wang Fei said, her face flushing as she smiled at Mo Shaoze. He was indeed very handsome, but a bit too intimidating. She feared she might not be able to handle that. However, he indeed matched the standards she had in mind.
"What would you like to eat?" Mo Shaoze handed the menu to Wang Fei.
Wang Fei smiled and shook her head, "You go ahead and order!" She wasn’t good at ordering, and when she went out with her roommates, they always did it for her.
Mo Shaoze didn’t insist and took back the menu to browse through, "Do you eat beef?" He looked up at Wang Fei, and seeing her nod, he lowered his head again to continue reading the menu.
Mo Shaoze would consult Wang Fei’s preference before ordering almost every dish. Although it was their first and last meeting, it was important to leave a good impression on each other.
"I heard you really like fish, why didn’t you order any?" Wang Fei, noticing Mo Shaoze putting away the menu, asked curiously. The dishes he ordered were almost all on the lighter side, and they were all the kind she liked.
"Who told you that?" Mo Shaoze asked, raising an eyebrow.
"My roommate," Wang Fei replied, feeling suddenly nervous under Mo Shaoze’s mischievous, peach blossom-shaped eyes.
"Your roommate? Who is that?" Mo Shaoze asked with surprise.
"Luo Shu," said Wang Fei.
"Oh, her? I didn’t expect you to be her roommate; what a coincidence. Well, ask her out sometime, and we can all catch up together," Mo Shaoze smiled. Lu Hanmo must have known already but didn’t tell him, which wasn’t very nice.
"Luo Shu said the same thing," Wang Fei nodded with a smile.
With Luo Shu as a conversation topic, the two gradually started talking more. By the end of the meal, they had a much better impression of each other.
