Chapter 296: 295, Fu Zhen

Yang Mujing paused slightly before quickly asking, "What about the previous owner?"

"I don’t know; I haven’t been here long," the waiter said with a smile. Lately, there had often been people inquiring about the whereabouts of the previous owner, but since she had never even seen his face, how could she know where he had gone?

Somewhat disappointed, Yang Mujing picked up the menu and casually ordered a few dishes. After the waiter left, he said, "The previous owner of this restaurant cooked really delicious food. I used to come here to eat almost every day. I didn’t expect that in just a few days of not coming here, the owner would have changed."

Luo Shu and the other two nodded without speaking. They had never tasted the dishes prepared by the previous owner, so naturally, they had no right to comment.

"The previous owner’s last name was Fu, a very good person. Eating his cooking gave you a feeling of endless aftertaste, such a pity..." Yang Mujing shook his head with a look of regret.

"Maybe the food is even tastier now," Luo Shu said, trying to comfort him with a smile. She hadn’t expected her uncle to be someone so attached to the past.

"That’s the only way to think about it," Yang Mujing said with a shrug and a smile.

Not long after, the waiter brought the dishes and set them on the table, "Please enjoy your meal!"

Yang Mujing looked at the dishes on the table and frowned slightly. The appearance of these dishes was incomparable to the ones before, indicating that there wasn’t much to look forward to in terms of taste either.

Seeing Luo Shu and the others start to eat, he also picked up his chopsticks, grabbed a piece of pork belly, and took a bite, frowning even more now. This food was truly awful!

Looking up at Luo Shu and the others, seeing that they too were frowning, he felt somewhat embarrassed, "How about we go to another restaurant?" The food was indeed difficult to swallow, and he couldn’t stomach a single bite of it.

Luo Shu glanced at Lu Hanmo and Yun Han beside her. Both were only smiling at her, and from their expressions, she knew that the decision was hers to make.

Checking the time on her wrist, Luo Shu smiled and said, "It’s still early, why don’t we go back home and eat?" The fridge at home was filled with plenty of fresh vegetables, after all.

"Agreed!" Lu Hanmo was the first to concur. It had been a long time since he had tasted her cooking.

"Sure!" Yun Han also nodded in agreement. He had been enjoying the meals Luo Shu prepared for the past two days.

"I have no objections!" Yang Mujing said indifferently as he signaled the waiter. He had never tasted Luo Shu’s cooking, so he had no expectations.

"May I help you with anything?" the waiter asked as she walked over with a smile.

"Help me settle the bill," Yang Mujing said.

The waiter glanced at the dishes on the table, surprised, and asked, "Are you sure?" hardly any of the food had been touched, and they had just arrived. Why were they already asking for the check?

Yang Mujing nodded, "How much?"

"Please wait a moment," the waiter went back to the cash register to get the bill, then presented it to Yang Mujing, "That’ll be eighty yuan."

Yang Mujing paused for a moment, then reached into his pocket and handed the money to the waiter.

"Give me back my restaurant, you bunch of robbers," a ruckus erupted from outside.

Hearing this, Yang Mujing quickly stood up and went outside. He was extremely familiar with that voice.

Stepping outside, he saw a middle-aged man crying out loud, making a scene, while a tall man was stopping him from entering the restaurant.

"Boss Fu!" Yang Mujing hurried forward. The middle-aged man was Fu Zhen, the restaurant’s former owner.

Yang Mujing approached them, pushing the man who was shoving Fu Zhen aside, "Boss Fu, what happened?"

"They said my restaurant had problems and needed to be closed for rectification and also needed to be fined. I didn’t have the money, so they gave my restaurant to someone else," Fu Zhen said through tears. Yang Mujing was a regular customer of his, so he certainly recognized him.

"Let’s go inside," Yang Mujing said, grabbing Fu Zhen’s hand and heading into the restaurant. No matter the reason, he hoped that the restaurant would continue to be operated by Fu Zhen. Not only was the food tasty when he was cooking, but it was also inexpensive.

The tall man hurried to catch up and blocked their way, "He can’t go in." Their boss had made it clear that Fu Zhen was not to be allowed back into the restaurant.

"I’m a customer of this restaurant, and you’re saying I can’t invite my friend for a meal?" Yang Mujing asked the tall man with a cold face. For the sake of the satisfying meals he could have in the future, he was determined to get involved in this matter.

"That’s..." The tall man was in a dilemma. If it were only Fu Zhen, he could easily stop him from entering. But now that someone wanted to invite Fu Zhen in for a meal, he really didn’t know how to stop them.

While the tall man hesitated, Yang Mujing had already pulled Fu Zhen into the restaurant.

Seeing this, the tall man quickly followed them in. It was best to inform his boss about what to do in this situation.

Yang Mujing sat Fu Zhen down at his own table and introduced him to Luo Shu and the others, "This is the former owner of the restaurant."

Luo Shu and the others nodded. Although they did not go outside, they were aware of what had happened.

"Boss Fu, can you tell us what exactly happened?" Yang Mujing asked Fu Zhen.

Fu Zhen sniffled and nodded, "Some days ago, two members from the Business Association came to inspect my restaurant. They said there were many shortcomings and it needed to be closed for rectifications and also required a fine. All my money had gone to my mother’s medical treatment, and I couldn’t come up with the amount they were asking for. I pleaded for more time, but they said there were regulations and the fine had to be paid within a set period."

Fu Zhen wiped his tears and continued, "I had no choice but to borrow from everywhere. But after paying the fine, during their next inspection, they still said it was not up to standard. If it wasn’t rectified properly, they wouldn’t allow it to reopen. My mother needed surgery at that time, so I was constantly at the hospital with her. To my surprise, when I came by a few days ago, I found my restaurant had been leased out already. When I asked the landlord, he said he didn’t want to rent the place to me anymore."

"That’s outrageous! This is clearly a set-up," Yang Mujing angrily slammed the table. The restaurant’s business was too good, and it must have made others envious.

"Fu Zhen, this restaurant is no longer yours. Please leave! You are not welcome here," said a middle-aged man with sparse hair, a rather plump figure, and a black mole on his chin as he walked over.
