Chapter 287: 286, Yin Corpse Sect

Their footsteps appeared to be the same, yet each step was imbued with a profound mystery, and in the blink of an eye, the pair had vanished from the end of the road.

Reaching a stone stele, Song Xiran took out a jade token and handed it to the little monk.

The little monk took the jade token and waved his hand, following which a streak of white light flashed by.

The scene before them had undergone a drastic transformation. Auspicious clouds drifted by; pavilions, terraces, and tall buildings stood all around; cranes flew leisurely, and deer called in the wild—a purely ethereal landscape.

However, a chill emanated from the beautiful scenery, sending shivers down the spine. It was unclear whether the scenery or the feeling was more real.

The little monk led Song Xiran to a grand hall, where they climbed the steps and stopped at the entrance.

"Please wait a moment!" the little monk said and then stepped into the hall.

Looking at the grand hall in front of him, Song Xiran’s eyes were filled with longing. How wonderful it would be if his family could one day be like this!

The little monk came back out and said to Song Xiran, "The sect leader invites you to enter."

Song Xiran smiled and nodded at the little monk, then walked into the hall.

The hall was spacious beyond measure, exuding grandeur and luxury, yet the chilling atmosphere grew even more intense.

Song Xiran approached with trepidation and bowed to the middle-aged man sitting in the seat of honor, wearing a black robe, with long hair and a pale face, "My lord!"

The middle-aged man nodded slightly, gazing down upon Song Xiran with chilling, narrow eyes that flickered ominously, "Is the job done?"

"Reporting to my lord! It is done, a hundred boys and girls will be delivered here in a day," Song Xiran replied respectfully. His ability to cultivate was all thanks to the Song Family aligning with the Yin Corpse Sect.

The trafficking organizations spread across various regions by their Song Family were meant to collect young boys and girls for the cultivation of the Yin Corpse Sect leader. Every three months, they sent a hundred children to the sect leader.

He wanted to kill Lu Hanmo not out of jealousy, but because Lu Hanmo had repeatedly destroyed their Song Family’s organizations.

"Excellent!" The Yin Corpse Sect leader nodded with satisfaction and pulled out a bottle of elixir and tossed it to Song Xiran.

"Thank you for your reward, my lord!" Song Xiran hurriedly picked up the elixir from the ground and knelt to show his gratitude.

"Serve me well, and you will be handsomely rewarded in the future." The Yin Corpse Sect leader said, waving Yue Shu away.

"Thank you, my lord!" Song Xiran promptly stood up, bowed, and backed out of the hall.

Upon exiting the temple, Song Xiran looked at the medicine bottle in his hand and a sinister smile crept over his lips, "Lu Hanmo, Luo Shu, your days are numbered."

The dock was bustling with people as a group of workers wearing sweat-soaked vests toiled, moving goods that had just been shipped from distant places.

In the distance, a large ship approached slowly and, before long, came to a stop at the edge of the wharf.

Large and sturdy wooden planks were placed down, and the workers on the ship began carrying huge wooden crates down, which were then moved onto several large trucks waiting on the dock.

Not far away, one of the workers moving goods, with a sharp gaze, watched the proceedings. Seeing his chance, he made a hand signal.

Then, the other workers, who had been busy moving goods, suddenly dropped what they were carrying, drew weapons, and swiftly charged towards the trucks.

A middle-aged man directing the unloading of the wooden crates sensed something was amiss and urgently waved at the truck drivers, signaling them to drive off quickly.

"Bang, bang, bang!" Gunshots rang out.

The truck drivers had no time to react before being wounded by gunfire from the soldiers disguised as dock workers surrounding them.

"Nobody move! Nobody move! Everyone squat down where you are!"

The workers unloading the wooden crates quickly crouched down, cradling their heads. They couldn’t resist; the opponents had guns.

The disguised Lu Hanmo stepped forward, glanced at the crouched workers, and said, "Take them all captive!" His secret mission this time was to intercept these human traffickers and bring them to justice.

"Yes, sir!" The soldiers quickly brought out the ropes they had prepared and tied everyone up.

Lu Hanmo approached one of the wooden crates, took out a dagger, pried open the nailed lid, and revealed five unconscious children inside.

His expression darkened instantaneously, an icy chill in his gaze. The Song Family was utterly ruthless! Although he knew this was the Song Family’s doing, the Guard had yet to find evidence linking them to the crime. They couldn’t touch the Song Family at the moment. Moreover, it seemed a powerful force was backing the Song Family.

Song Xiran returned home and handed over the elixir given by the Yin Corpse Sect leader to Old Master Song.

Old Master Song took the elixir and smiled with satisfaction, "How did things go?" Not everyone in the Song Family practiced cultivation. Other than a few key members, there were only two descendants of modest talent. After all, the Yin Corpse Sect didn’t provide many elixirs. Nevertheless, they were content; they knew of no other force that could cultivate as they did.

"Everything is arranged; the goods will be delivered to the dock today," Song Xiran replied with respect. So what if it defied heaven and harmed reason? With power, who would dare to condemn them?

The phone on the table started to ring urgently. Old Master Song picked it up.

A frantic voice came from the phone, "Patriarch, there’s been a problem! The Guard has intercepted our goods."

"What?!" Old Master Song’s face went pale, and the phone almost slipped from his grasp. What should they do now? Those children were requested by the Yin Corpse Sect, and if they were delayed, it would mean disaster for the Song Family.

Old Master Song placed the phone down slowly, his face pale as he looked at Song Xiran, "What do we do now?" Nothing was more terrifying than offending a powerful sect!

"Grandfather, I will think of something," Song Xiran stated, his expression grim. It must be Lu Hanmo again. Now that he has been reassigned back to Jinchen, it’s affecting us even more.

"We cannot afford any delay with this matter, otherwise our entire Song Family will suffer. Do you understand?" Old Master Song looked at Song Xiran solemnly. As long as the Song Family carried out the tasks given by the Yin Corpse Sect, their prosperity was imminent.
