Chapter 283: 282, Communist Youth Village
The villagers heard this and slapped their thighs, "Little girl, I told you that you got the wrong place. This is Communist Youth Village, not Zhang Family Village."
"What should I do? I’ve spent all the money I have, and now I can’t even get back," Yang Muxue said, sweating profusely and looking like she was about to cry.
"Little girl, don’t panic. I’ll take you to see the village chief," the villager said, comforting her quickly. How could a young girl who had come from so far to find relatives and gone to the wrong place not be anxious?
"Thank you, uncle!" Yang Muxue bit her lip, looking pitifully at the villager. To stay here, she had to go all out.
"Then you come with me," the villager said, pointing ahead.
"Okay!" Yang Muxue nodded and followed the villager.
The villager led Yang Muxue to the village office and explained her situation to the village chief and several village officials.
Upon hearing this, they all felt very sympathetic towards Yang Muxue.
"Little girl, where is your home? How about I send someone to take you back?" the village chief said.
"My parents are dead. Before they died, they told me to find my aunt, but I..." Yang Muxue said, lowering her head, unable to go on.
The people exchanged glances, and the village chief spoke, "How about this, little girl, you stay in our village for now. What can you do?" Though they pitied her, they couldn’t support someone who did nothing.
Yang Muxue thought for a moment, "I’ve been to school for a few years, how about I teach the children in the village to read?" She knew that many villages, being remote, did not have a place for children to go to school.
"Done! It’s settled," the village chief decided with a smack of his hand. He had also wanted the children in the village to gain some knowledge, but the nearest school was more than ten miles from their village. Since the little girl could read and write, it was settled that she would teach for now.
"Little girl, what’s your name?" the deputy village chief looked at Yang Muxue and asked.
"My name is Yang Xue," Yang Muxue said.
The village chief nodded and thought for a moment, "Yang Xue, there is a support house in our village, you can live there from now on." In the past, there were many support households in their village, but as things improved, they gradually moved back to the city.
"Great! Thank you, everyone!" Yang Muxue bowed to the people. Staying here was just too good!
After handing in her exam papers, Luo Shu walked out of the school feeling relieved. Today was the last day of exams, and now all she had to do was wait at home for the admission notice to be sent to her.
"Luo Shu," Zhao Aishu saw Luo Shu walking out of the school and went up to her, handing her the mung bean soup she held. These past few days, she had brought mung bean soup every day. Although Luo Shu was a divine healer, no medical skill could withstand the heat. The examination room was crowded and stuffy, and it was easy to get heatstroke.
"Godmother, let’s go under the shade of the trees," Luo Shu took the mung bean soup from Zhao Aishu and led her to the shade nearby. She had advised her godmother on that day not to come in such hot weather, as it would be bad if she got heatstroke. No matter what she said, though, her godmother insisted on coming, saying it was only for three days, and nothing would happen.
Since her godmother said so, it wasn’t nice for her to refuse her kindness. She had to keep this kindness firmly in her heart and repay her well in the future.
Upon opening the lunch box, a waft of coolness immediately spread out, and Luo Shu took out two teacups from the army green backpack she carried and poured a cup for both Zhao Aishu and herself, "Godmother, have some to cool down in this heat."
Zhao Aishu smiled and nodded, took a sip of the mung bean soup, and immediately felt much cooler. Looking at the army green backpack Luo Shu carried, she commented, "Luo Shu, I think your backpack is really like a Hundred Treasures Box; it holds everything." Carrying some medicine and Silver Needle wouldn’t surprise her, but she even carried teacups with her.
"It’s all for convenience!" Luo Shu laughed. Of course, she couldn’t tell her she had a space on her person. It wasn’t about trust but for her safety. Some things are not necessarily good to know, especially those beyond her understanding.
After they finished the mung bean soup, Zhao Aishu took Luo Shu to her car, "You worked hard during these three days of exams. I’ll have Xiao Zhang drive you home."
"Okay!" Luo Shu smiled and nodded, getting into the car with Zhao Aishu.
The car traveled swiftly along the road, the tall plane trees on the side lush and verdant. The brilliant sunlight filtered through the leaves, casting shadows on the ground like playful spirits, bounding on either side of the road.
"Godmother, you must have almost finished the Pill I gave you last time. Here are two more bottles for you," Luo Shu took out two bottles of Pill from her backpack and handed them to Zhao Aishu. Although she couldn’t help her cultivate, she could use these Pills to keep her body healthier.
Zhao Aishu didn’t fuss and smiled as she took the Pills, "Ever since I took your Pills, the sleep quality for your godfather and me has improved a lot, and so has our energy." Before, she felt weak when she woke up, but that feeling was gone after taking the Pills.
"Godmother, just ask me for more Pills when you finish them," Luo Shu smiled. These Pills were a kind of Primary Elixir containing a trace of Spiritual Power, but the Spiritual Power would slowly dissipate over time. So for better efficacy, she would only refine them when they were nearly finished.
"Okay!" Zhao Aishu smiled and nodded.
As they chatted, they arrived at the entrance to Luo Shu’s home lane.
"Godmother, I’ll be going home now," Luo Shu smiled and waved at Zhao Aishu, pushing the door open and getting out of the car.
Zhao Aishu nodded and smiled, waving back at Luo Shu until her figure disappeared into the lane, before she withdrew her gaze and asked the driver to drive away.
Luo Shu pushed open the courtyard door, saw Luo Qianyu sitting in the yard, and greeted him with surprise, "Brother!"
Luo Qianyu turned his head towards Luo Shu and nodded with a smile.
Luo Shu sat down opposite Luo Qianyu, "Is there still no news of her?" If only she knew more about her parents’ affairs in her previous life, she could have helped him, but unfortunately, she also did not know where her mother was now. Did they really have to wait two more years before they could meet?
