Chapter 282: Two hundred and eighty-one, the trouble of being famous

The exam spanned three days, and on the second day when Luo Shu entered the examination hall, people looked at her as if they were seeing Yan Country Currency sparkling before them.

"Little Divine Doctor, I didn’t expect you to take the exam."

"To be able to take an exam in the same room as you, I truly feel honored!"

"Little Divine Doctor, can you give me an autograph?"

"Little Divine Doctor, are you not afraid of the heat because of your medical skills? Can you make me not afraid of heat as well?"

Luo Shu rubbed her temples with a hint of headache. She was starting to regret appearing on television, as now, wherever she went, she was recognized.

The proctor walked into the classroom and, seeing everyone crowding around Luo Shu, shouted loudly, "The exam is about to start, everyone please take your seats!"

People could only reluctantly disperse and head to their own seats, but their gazes still drifted towards Luo Shu now and then.

The proctor put down the test papers he was holding and turned to Luo Shu with a smile. That morning, when he heard that the Little Divine Doctor would be in his exam room, he was almost overjoyed. He always had a bit of a hair loss problem, and wondered if the Little Divine Doctor could help him solve it?

Luo Shu touched her nose with a wry smile. It seemed her exam was bound to be anything but peaceful.

After receiving the test paper, Luo Shu rapidly began writing, and in less than half an hour, she had completed the entire paper.

Standing up amidst the astonished and shocked gazes of the others, Luo Shu walked towards the podium with her test paper.

After placing the test paper on the lectern in front of the proctor, Luo Shu walked towards the exit. Since she had already become the center of attention, she didn’t mind being a bit more conspicuous.

Watching Luo Shu’s swiftly departing figure, the proctor touched his thinning hair and shook his head. The Little Divine Doctor must be anxious to avoid the students’ pestering, which is why she handed in her paper so quickly. But could she have completed it so swiftly?

Picking up Luo Shu’s test paper, the proctor glanced over it and was immediately stunned. The handwriting was neat and elegant, answers were written under each question, and the answers to the few questions he saw were all correct. He hadn’t expected the Little Divine Doctor to be not only skilled in medicine but also so excellent in her studies.

Seeing Luo Shu come out of the exam room so quickly, Lu Hanmo was mildly surprised, "How did you finish so quickly?"

"I was recognized," said Luo Shu, a touch sullen. She had anticipated this outcome. Even if she hadn’t gone to treat the girl suffering from heatstroke yesterday, the outcome wouldn’t have changed. It was like the girl who had pulled her to treat the heatstroke patient yesterday, who had recognized her right from the start and sought her out.

Lu Hanmo tenderly ruffled Luo Shu’s hair, "It will be better when we get to Jinchen." He understood that she did not enjoy the limelight; her decision to appear on television was to gain his family’s recognition sooner.

"Mm," nodded Luo Shu. She chose to study at Jinchen not only because Hanmo was there, but also because fewer people there would recognize her. Jinchen was not like Cloud City; the citizens of Jinchen had broader exposure, and they would quickly forget things that did not affect their own interests.

The two drove to the lakeside and sat down on the grass, taking out the picnic they had prepared in the morning to eat.

"Shushu, I have to go back tonight," Lu Hanmo said, looking at Luo Shu with reluctance. Every time it’s like this, a brief meeting followed by an abrupt goodbye. When will they ever be able to stay together for good?

Luo Shu leaned her head on Lu Hanmo’s shoulder, gazing with him at the lake and its shimmering reflection, "Have you been on a mission recently?" Although Hanmo was only an instructor, his great strength meant that he was often assigned difficult tasks by his superiors as a form of training.

Lu Hanmo nodded, "There’s a live combat drill." Besides the drill, there was actually another task to execute, but it was classified, and he couldn’t share that with her.

He didn’t know how long that task would take. Thus, he had made an effort to squeeze in two days to spend with her this time.

Luo Shu nodded slightly, looking up at Lu Hanmo and cautioned, "Stay safe!" She wouldn’t have been that worried if she hadn’t encountered those True Cultivators, but their presence gave her a strong sense of danger, making her aware of her own vulnerability.

"You too. It’s about time. Let me take you to the exam hall," said Lu Hanmo, glancing at his watch. As time passed, their moments together were rapidly diminishing. He didn’t know when they would see each other again.

The two drove back to the school entrance. Luo Shu stayed in the car, chatting with Lu Hanmo for a bit. With about five minutes left, she slowly got out of the car and strolled to the exam hall.

Everyone’s eyes lit up as they saw Luo Shu enter the exam hall, but before they could even speak, the invigilator had already walked in.

The invigilator glanced at Luo Shu and then went up to the podium to distribute the exam papers. He really wanted to ask Luo Shu about the secrets to maintaining her hair, but he could tell she wasn’t interested.

This time, Luo Shu finished her exam quickly and left the hall just as she had before. In only two more hours, Hanmo would have to depart for the training camp, so naturally, she didn’t want to waste a single second they could spend together.

Time, however, was heartlessly slipping away despite their reluctance to part.

After their unwilling farewell, Luo Shu returned home and entered her special space. She was eager to strengthen herself, realizing that only by becoming more powerful could she better protect herself and those around her.

The green hills undulated with lush trees and blooming mountain flowers, rural homesteads dotted among them like a hidden paradise.

Yang Muxue wiped the beads of sweat from her forehead, looking at the small mountain village ahead, her lips curving into a small smile. Here, away from the hustle and bustle of city life, without the backstabbing or the power struggles, there was only tranquility and simplicity—exactly the place she longed for.

Over the past month, she had traveled non-stop except for sleep, and now she had finally found the place she wanted.

A villager carrying a hoe passed by Yang Muxue and stopped, "Miss, who are you looking for?" Their village was remote and seldom received strangers.

"I’m looking for my aunt, Li Cuie," Yang Muxue invented a name. Naturally, she couldn’t tell him she had run away from home.

The villager thought hard and then said, "Young lady, might you be mistaken? There’s no one by the name of Li Cuie in our village."

"How can that be? The address my aunt gave me is here. Isn’t this Zhang Family Village?" Yang Muxue’s face showed a hint of anxiety.
