Chapter 254: 253, red crystal
Lu Hanmo walked along, surveying his surroundings, the forest here was thick with dense undergrowth. Ravines crisscrossed every which way, with clouds of smoke rising up from within them at times, swirling fog adding a mysterious oppressiveness amidst the silent woods.
Picking up the pace, Lu Hanmo moved quickly through the forest.
"Awoo!" A spine-chilling roar suddenly pierced the air.
Lu Hanmo looked in the direction of the noise, only to see a massive, two-headed beast with a pair of large wings on its back. It somewhat resembled the legendary pterodactyl, except it had an extra head.
Lu Hanmo’s eyes narrowed, and he instantly became alert. He hadn’t expected to encounter such a monster here.
The two-headed monster spread its wings and lunged at Lu Hanmo.
Lu Hanmo’s figure flashed like lightning, dodging the two-headed monster’s attack while the Attack Talisman he held was already thrown at it.
"Boom! Boom! Boom!" As the Talismans exploded on the two-headed monster, several bloody holes appeared on its body, and blue blood slowly seeped out.
"Awoo!" The two-headed monster let out an infuriated roar, its vast wings unfurled and with a forceful flap, created a whirlwind that whipped up sand and debris towards Lu Hanmo.
Lu Hanmo tapped the ground forcefully with one foot, leaping onto the back of the two-headed monster.
"Awoo!" The two-headed monster screamed in extreme anger, both heads twisting around to attack Lu Hanmo.
Lu Hanmo stepped back slightly, his Talisman and right foot struck out simultaneously.
The two-headed monster seemed to have anticipated the use of Talismans, one of its heads nimbly dodged aside, while its tail worked in unison with the other head, striking at Lu Hanmo in a coordinated attack.
Lu Hanmo leaped up, a spinning kick aimed at the two-headed monster’s head.
The two-headed monster’s reaction was extremely quick; it immediately recoiled its head while the other head launched another attack.
A tacit rhythm of attack was established between man and beast, advance and retreat, offense and defense. Although both were determined to overcome the other, neither could gain the upper hand, leading to a stalemate.
Luo Shu wasn’t having an easy time either, as she was being besieged by a group of wildmen about two meters tall, with human-like faces and bodies covered in yellow-brown fur.
Despite their large size, the wildmen were unexpectedly agile, and their strength was shockingly great. Each punch they threw left a half-meter deep crater in the ground.
Among them, Luo Shu was like a small monkey. Normally, dealing with these wildmen wouldn’t have been too difficult. A few Talismans would have done the job, but to Luo Shu’s annoyance, her Talismans were ineffective against these wildmen.
They possessed some peculiar power; when Talismans struck them, it was no different from tossing a piece of waste paper.
The wildmen were also well-coordinated in their attacks, systematically blocking Luo Shu’s every possible escape route.
Luo Shu decided not to engage any longer. She flashed into her space and made it invisible within the hair of one of the wildmen. Since these wildmen possessed mysterious powers, she decided to follow them and see if their dwelling place held any secrets.
Watching Luo Shu suddenly disappear, the wildmen’s eyes widened in surprise. They jabbered excitedly to one another and began to disperse to search for her.
About ten minutes later, they gathered again, chattering away, and walked towards the depths of the dense forest.
Luo Shu observed the situation outside, only to see the wild men leave the dense forest and start climbing up the mountain.
Soon after, a massive mountain peak appeared in Luo Shu’s sight. The upper part of the mountain was triangular, resembling a pyramid. Bathed in the sunlight, it glinted brilliantly, creating an incredibly magical and dreamlike world, like a dazzling golden mountain, its splendor blinding.
The wild men didn’t stop their pace but continued to climb towards the mountain peak.
It wasn’t until a huge cave appeared before them that they slowed down and slowly entered the cave.
Upon entering the cave, Luo Shu immediately felt a strong mysterious power, identical to the one radiating from the wild men.
A hint of excitement crossed Luo Shu’s face. She was certain that inside this cave, there must be some kind of treasure.
Looking up to survey the cave, she saw that its interior was very spacious. There were several wild men inside, now worshiping a huge red crystal in the center of the cave.
Seeing the red crystal, Luo Shu’s eyes instantly brightened. The mysterious power she felt was emanating from that crystal. It seemed her trip was indeed not in vain. Now, she just needed to wait for the right moment to take the crystal into her space.
Lu Hanmo gasped for breath as he looked at the two-headed monster that lay dead on the ground.
After resting for a moment, he continued walking forward.
As dusk approached, Lu Hanmo came upon a lake. The color of the lake water was very strange, like black ink. In the center of the lake, a sacred, translucent white flower, like crystal jade, was in full bloom.
"It must be it," Lu Hanmo guessed. Shushu had mentioned a black plant before, but here there was a white flower. The colors of the two plants were complete opposites, both growing in the middle of the lake, perhaps with opposite effects as well. This might be why those soul bodies were afraid of it; otherwise, why wouldn’t there be any soul bodies here?
After taking a couple of steps, Lu Hanmo stopped and took out a formation flag, tossing it towards the center of the lake.
As the formation flag fell into the lake, a transparent bridge abruptly appeared in the center, leading directly to the white flower.
Lu Hanmo glanced at the black lake water, stepped onto the transparent bridge, and quickly moved towards the white flower with lightning speed. Although the place seemed quiet, he felt very dangerous, so he had to be quick and decisive.
No sooner had his hand touched the white flower than a gigantic hand stretched out from the dark lake water, attacking Lu Hanmo.
With one hand picking the flower, Lu Hanmo threw the talisman he had prepared into the giant hand with his other hand.
"Boom!" The talisman exploded, and the giant hand was immediately blasted into a bloody mess.
"Roar~" A thunderous roar came from the bottom of the lake.
Having plucked the white flower, Lu Hanmo immediately ran to shore and bolted away like lightning. Whatever the giant hand belonged to, this was not a place to linger.
"Splash!" A sound of water breaking erupted as a giant monster emerged from the lake, with a human head and a serpent body, extremely terrifying.
With eyes full of rage, it swept a glance around. Seeing the white flower had been taken, it bellowed in anger.
