Chapter 251: Two hundred and fifty, Soul Body
The others on the bus also cast surprised glances at Luo Shu.
"Little girl, that place is no joke. Very few who go in come out. Once, an exploration team came to our village, and after we took them in, three ended up dead, three injured, and two went missing," someone said.
"Yeah! That place is truly cursed. At one time, over thirty enemy remnants relied on their superior weapons to cross the Dark Drain, but once they entered, not a single one survived. Think about it, even those armed folks couldn’t make it out, what chance do you have?"
"Exactly! A Yan Country Guard Squad came here a few days ago, and they still haven’t come back. That place is really too terrifying!"
The crowd all tried to persuade her, as they didn’t want to see such a young life lost so senselessly.
Luo Shu smiled gratefully at them, "Thank you for your kindness! But I have already made up my mind!" Hanmo and the others had indeed gone in there.
"Why are you so stubborn, little girl?"
"I really don’t know what to say to you anymore. If you go in there, you’ll really lose your life," another person stated.
"Think it over again, don’t joke with your life," urged another.
Luo Shu smiled at the crowd and turned her head to look out at the scenery. Since Hanmo was inside, she had to go, whether he was alive or dead, she had to find him.
The vehicle rattled on, finally reaching its destination.
Luo Shu got off the bus, followed by people who still didn’t give up trying to persuade her.
"Thank you, everyone! Goodbye!" Luo Shu said with a grateful smile, waved her hand, and stepped toward the direction of the Dark Drain.
Inside the Dark Drain, there were overlapping mountains and deep streams. Due to its unique topography, lush vegetation, and abundant rainfall leading to high humidity, mist was a characteristic of the area. It was often swirling in mists and locked in heavy fog, making the inside of the drain feel cold and mysterious.
The farther Luo Shu walked, the heavier the chill became, and the substantial fog nearly made it impossible for her to see the road ahead.
Cold winds blew from all directions, and even as a True Cultivator, Luo Shu felt a chill.
Suddenly, a black shadow rushed toward Luo Shu with a whoosh. She quickly dodged before she could make out what the black shadow was, several more rushed toward her.
She hastily threw out a few Attack Talismans, and as they activated, pitiful cries resounded instantly.
Without hesitation, Luo Shu chose a direction and ran swiftly forward.
But she hadn’t run far when the shadowy figures appeared again, this time in numbers far greater than before.
Luo Shu’s brow furrowed. After throwing out several more talismans, she hurried forward.
Along the way, dark figures kept appearing, and Luo Shu’s talismans flew out as if they cost her nothing. Fortunately, she had prepared many talismans in advance; otherwise, she would have been completely entangled by those dark figures by now.
She didn’t know how long she had been running until a lake appeared in front of Luo Shu, and she finally stopped.
The sight before her made her hair stand on end: in the center of the small lake, there was a black plant surrounded by a dense mass of dark figures. Only then did Luo Shu realize that these dark figures were soul bodies.
Gathering her wits, Luo Shu quickly turned around and ran in a different direction. However, the dark figures had already noticed her and were chasing after her.
"Damn it!" Luo Shu could only continue to desperately throw talismans at the dark figures like she did before. But what frustrated her was that instead of decreasing, the number of dark figures behind her was growing. It was as if she were Monk Tang himself, with each one eager to take a bite of her.
In a hollow a few miles away from Luo Shu, thousands upon thousands of dark figures were gathering, swarming over one another as thick as locusts.
The dark figures incessantly roamed and collided, seemingly determined to break through whatever stood in their way.
Lu Hanmo threw out several formation flags to reinforce the formation once more. They had been trapped here for nearly ten days, and had it not been for his knowledge of formations, they all would have been devoured by those dark figures long ago.
He initially thought the dark figures would be unable to break through his formation and would soon leave. However, to his surprise, the dark figures seemed to have found something delicious and were converging towards them.
In the beginning, there were only a few hundred dark figures; as time passed, their numbers grew every day. Now, they were nearly surrounded by dark figures and couldn’t see anything else. They had no idea whether it was day or night, clear or rainy outside.
What worried Lu Hanmo the most was that with time, their food supply was decreasing day by day. Even with the formation’s protection, they wouldn’t be able to hold on for much longer. He had gone out to search for food, but all his attempts had been fruitless; there were no water sources or foodstuffs nearby.
Looking at the dark figures surrounding the formation, Lu Hanmo frowned deeply. Now, apart from cultivating, he had no other options; he couldn’t possibly abandon everyone and leave on his own.
Luo Shu kept running, unsure how many days it had been. If she hadn’t had a space to rest temporarily, she figured she would have no energy left to run by now.
Feeling the strength draining from her feet, Luo Shu once again slipped into the space.
After drinking a few sips of Spiritual Spring Water and eating some dry food, Luo Shu regained her strength and immediately dashed out of the space to continue running. She couldn’t afford to waste much time; she had to find Hanmo quickly.
The dark figures that were lurking around Luo Shu rushed after her as soon as she reappeared. For these entities, this human was troublesome, but she possessed something they needed.
Seeing the overwhelming encirclement of dark figures not far ahead, Luo Shu’s face changed color, and she quickly considered changing direction.
But the next moment, she changed her mind. While attacking the dark figures with talismans, she struggled towards where the dark figures were gathering. They were so insistent on following her because of her aura. Hanmo, like her, was a true cultivator, so the dark figures would surely not leave him alone. Hanmo had a formation for protection, which was why the dark figures lingered.
Whether her conjecture was right or wrong, she had to check. Even if it wasn’t Hanmo, she could still slip into the space for a while. She had tried using an Invisibility Talisman before, but even with it, the dark figures could still accurately locate her. Thus, she knew that the Invisibility Talisman was useless against these soul bodies.
As talismans continuously flew from her hands, the dark figures in front of Luo Shu were quickly destroyed and just as quickly gathered again, making every step she took extremely difficult. To cover a mere two hundred meters, Luo Shu took almost half an hour.
