Chapter 250: Two hundred and forty-nine, regret
Wang Zhiyong, Xu Liping, and the people surrounding them focused their attention on Luo Shu as they heard the old man’s words. So, she was also a doctor!
"I remember now, I saw a report about her in the newspaper last time. Her medical skills are quite impressive!"
"I have heard of her too. She saved all the people of Cloud City along with another doctor. She’s truly amazing!"
"That couple is really foolish. Of all people to offend, they had to offend the Little Divine Doctor. Even if they really had a miscarriage, it would be well deserved!"
"With the status of the Little Divine Doctor, the man who would be interested in her would think she is as desirable as Yan Country Currency that everyone loves?"
"Since she is a doctor, how could she just stand by and not save someone? This kind of doctor is too petty!" After learning about Luo Shu’s identity, the people around started discussing her.
Luo Shu did not expect someone to recognize her, and upon opening her eyes, she nodded at the old man.
"Little Divine Doctor, I never expected to meet you here. I’m truly honored!" The old man, excited like a child, looked at Luo Shu with a look full of excitement. He had also been involved in the Cloud City poisoning incident, but was completely helpless against those viruses. That’s why he knew just how difficult it was to neutralize those viruses, yet Luo Shu had managed to do it.
"Little Divine Doctor, could I ask you some questions about medical skills? My seat is in the next carriage. If you don’t mind, I could have my grandson swap seats with you. What do you think?" The old man looked at Luo Shu with a face full of expectation, waiting for her response.
After thinking for a moment, Luo Shu nodded her head, "Okay!" It just so happened that she didn’t want to be seated with those three people anyway.
"Then wait here for a moment, and I will call my grandson over." The old man said with a smile, and ran towards the next carriage with a bounce in his step, not at all appearing his age of fifty or sixty.
Soon, the old man brought a young man wearing a long robe over.
Seeing Luo Shu, the young man was also very happy. He smiled shyly at Luo Shu and came forward to swap seats with her.
As Luo Shu left with the two, Wang Zhiyong and his companions had mixed feelings.
After swapping seats, Luo Shu felt much better. She generously answered all of the old man’s questions, providing answers one after the other, deepening the old man’s admiration for her.
Upon knowing Luo Shu’s identity, the other passengers began asking Luo Shu to treat their illnesses.
All sorts of difficult and chronic illnesses were almost effortlessly managed by Luo Shu.
Those who were cured by Luo Shu, in gratitude, brought her fruit, dry food, and some even fetched hot water specifically for her. Everyone wished they could give their all to thank Luo Shu for her healing grace.
Xu Lisha looked over at the next carriage with a regretful expression. If it hadn’t been for her previous irrational behavior, she might have had the opportunity to befriend Luo Shu. Then, she could have invited Luo Shu to come back and treat her mother. But now, she had ruined that opportunity herself. From the way Luo Shu ignored her after she had a pregnancy scare, it was evident that Luo Shu was definitely not an easy person to talk to.
"Sister, why don’t we go and apologize to her?" Xu Liping spoke up. Ever since everyone knew Luo Shu’s identity, the way they looked at them seemed to be filled with pity and ridicule. She couldn’t stand it.
Xu Lisha glanced again at the compartment where Luo Shu was and shook her head. What good would apologizing do? Would it not just be another blow to her dignity?
Knowing her sister’s temper, Xu Liping did not urge her further and sighed, laying her head on the table and looking towards the old man’s grandson. She had suggested apologizing largely because she hoped it would make him take a liking to her. Nevertheless, from beginning to end, he was engrossed in reading medical books, never once showing interest even to glance her way.
Days quickly passed and after a long journey, the train finally slowly arrived at the platform of Bodhisattva Mountain City.
"Little Divine Doctor, my house is here in Bodhisattva Mountain City. Why don’t you come over to my place?"
"My house is not far from here. Come to my place."
"Little Divine Doctor, without you, my leg would never have gotten better. Thank you so much! If you don’t think my home is too shabby, please come over."
The people who disembarked the train with Luo Shu warmly invited her. Although the illnesses they had were not very serious, they were difficult to cure. Diseases like rheumatism, which caused severe pain in winter and on rainy days, and hypertension, a long-term condition, are not easily treated. Luo Shu had prescribed remedies for them and advised on what they should pay attention to. Naturally, they were grateful to Luo Shu.
"Thank you all for your kindness! I have other matters to attend to, so I won’t trouble you with a visit. Goodbye to you all!" Luo Shu said to the crowd. Right now, she simply didn’t have the time to spare; she had to rush to Dark Drain to assess the situation.
"Little Divine Doctor! Please wait a moment!" The old man came chasing with his grandson.
Luo Shu stopped in her tracks, turning to look at the two of them.
The old man’s grandson handed a map to Luo Shu, "My grandfather and I just went out of our way to buy this. We hope it’s helpful to you." This was their first visit to Bodhisattva Mountain City, so they too were unfamiliar with the place. The only thing they could do was to get Luo Shu a map of the area.
"Thank you!" Luo Shu took the map and expressed her gratitude.
"We should be the ones thanking you. We have learned so much from you this time, and it has been incredibly beneficial. Thank you!" The old man’s grandson smiled and thanked Luo Shu. After switching seats with her, besides reading his medical books, he spent most of his time back in the original carriage, listening to his grandfather and Luo Shu discuss medicine. So, he had gained a lot from the trip as well.
After bidding farewell to the old man and his grandson, Luo Shu headed to the bus station and took a bus to Dark Drain.
There weren’t many people on the bus, mostly villagers who lived near Dark Drain.
"Young lady, you’re not a local, are you?" The middle-aged man sitting next to Luo Shu asked. One could tell she wasn’t a local just from her clothes and style.
"Yes!" Luo Shu nodded.
"Are you going to visit relatives?" The middle-aged man continued to ask.
"Tourism," Luo Shu replied. In those days, it was rare for people to travel, but there were still some photography enthusiasts and young people longing for the embrace of nature who would venture out.
The middle-aged man’s face instantly changed, "You wouldn’t happen to be going to Dark Drain, would you? Young lady, that’s a place you absolutely mustn’t go to. Once you do, you might never come out." His family lived close to Dark Drain, so he was all too aware of the dangers there.
