Chapter 248 - 247, Dark Drain

Chapter 248: 247, Dark Drain

As the factory settled into its routine, Luo Shu’s life returned to peaceful tranquility, and before she knew it, half a month had passed.

"Shushu, I need to make a trip to Jinchen tomorrow," Luo Qianyu said. With Lu Mucheng and Luo Qin there, there was no need for him to worry too much about the factory.

"Is something the matter?" Luo Shu came back to her senses and looked at Luo Qianyu. More than half a month had gone by without any news from Hanmo. How was his mission progressing?

"Just a little something," Luo Qianyu said with a slight smile. He was going to see her, wondering if she still remembered him?

Luo Shu absentmindedly nodded. If there was still no news from Hanmo tomorrow, she would ask Liu Changhe.

"What’s wrong? Are you worried about something?" Noticing Luo Shu’s demeanor, Luo Qianyu asked.

Luo Shu shook her head, "Before Hanmo left for his mission, he told me it would take at most half a month, but now it’s been more than that, and he hasn’t returned yet."

"You’re worried because you care. Lu Hanmo is a True Cultivator, how could anything happen to him? Unless he encountered another True Cultivator, do you think True Cultivators are as common as cabbages in the street?" Luo Qianyu teased with a smile. Let alone True Cultivators, even Ancient Martial Artists were rarely seen in normal circumstances.

Luo Shu gave Luo Qianyu a sideways glance, "I know that, but I can’t help worrying!" Perhaps this is what it’s like to love someone. When he’s not by your side, you can’t help but think about him, worrying about his health and safety.

"Don’t overthink it, Hanmo won’t have any problems," Luo Qianyu reassured as he picked up an apple from a nearby fruit plate and began to peel it with a knife. The apple spun in his hands, its peel slowly growing longer with his movements, until finally, only the glistening flesh remained as the lengthy peel fell away.

"Have an apple!" he said with a smile, offering the peeled apple to Luo Shu.

Luo Shu accepted the apple with a smile and took a bite, teasing, "Brother, with your apple peeling skills, you’ll definitely enchant your sister-in-law to no end." In her previous life, she often saw a plate of neatly chopped apple pieces on the table in her parents’ room. Her mother could eat them with just a toothpick whenever she wanted. Now that she thought about it, that must have been her father’s handiwork.

Luo Qianyu chuckled and tapped Luo Shu’s forehead lightly, "Do I really only have this single redeeming feature?"

Luo Shu gave Luo Qianyu a sly smile, "Of course not! Aren’t you the Divine Doctor Luo, praised as graceful and handsome, dashing and elegant, intelligent and multi-talented, heralded as ’outshining all others’, and known as the Jade-Faced Flying Fox? How could you only be good at peeling apples?"

"You little rascal!" Luo Qianyu laughed and shook his head, a look of helpless affection on his face.

Early the next morning, Luo Qianyu left Cloud City for Jinchen.

Sitting on the sofa, Luo Shu watched TV absently, suppressing the urge to make a phone call until the afternoon, when she could no longer hold back and reached for the phone.

"Hello! Has Lu Hanmo returned?" she asked as soon as the call connected.

"Is that the sister-in-law? The instructor hasn’t come back yet," came the reply.

"I understand, thank you!" Luo Shu’s mood immediately dropped.

After hanging up, she dialed another number.

Liu Changhe was looking at a map when the phone rang. He picked it up and greeted, "Hello!"

"Chief Liu! This is Luo Shu," she said.

"Ah, Luo Shu! What can I do for you?" Liu Changhe asked with a smile.

"I wanted to ask about when Lu Hanmo will be back?" She knew they had rules, and there were things that, even if she asked, Liu Changhe wouldn’t disclose to her.

"Don’t worry, he should be back soon," Liu Changhe consoled. He was also anxious about this matter; he had already dispatched two teams, but so far, none had returned.

Luo Shu bit her lip and hesitated before saying, "Chief Liu, I know some things are Guard secrets that I shouldn’t inquire about. Right now, I just want to know where that place is."

A frown creased Liu Changhe’s brow. After a long pause, he said, "Luo Shu, that place is very dangerous."

"Please tell me!" Luo Shu’s voice carried a note of determination.

Liu Changhe sighed deeply, "Dark Drain."

"Thank you," Luo Shu said gratefully. She had heard of Dark Drain, an area approximately 180 square kilometers, known for its pristine ecology, rare species, and unique, magical landscapes. It was widely acclaimed by both domestic and international media as a jewel of the Yan Country Devil’s Sea. Because of the unsolved ’mysteries’ hidden within, locals called it the ’Devil’s Plain’ of the South Forest District.

After hanging up, Luo Shu immediately packed her gear and headed for Dark Drain.

Having obtained an introductory letter from the Town Official Residence, Luo Shu arrived at the train station and purchased a ticket to Bodhisattva Mountain City. The Divine Doctor Family had no influence in Bodhisattva Mountain City, so even if she wished to fly there, she had no means to do so.

The train station was bustling with people, and the waiting room was filled with travelers and their bags, though due to the recent end of the New Year holiday, there were fewer people than usual.

Luo Shu found an empty seat and sat down, wearing only a green backpack. With such minimal luggage, she stood out somewhat among the other waiting travelers.

"Young lady, where might you be heading?" asked a woman sitting next to Luo Shu, holding a child.

"Bodhisattva Mountain City," Luo Shu replied faintly.

"What a coincidence, I’m also going to Bodhisattva Mountain City; my parents’ home is there," the woman said with a smile, patting her child who had just woken up and was on the verge of crying.

"Hmm!" Luo Shu returned the smile and nodded. She glanced at her watch, saw there was still time, and pulled out a magazine to read from her bag.

The middle-aged woman looked at Luo Shu enviously for a while. "Young lady, going to Bodhisattva Mountain City like this won’t do. The journey takes at least five or six days. That small bag of yours won’t hold much food, and you’ll be hungry on the way. There’s nothing for sale on the train." It was clear the young lady hadn’t traveled far before, and judging by her appearance, she was from a wealthy family. It looked like she was going on a trip.

"Thank you! I’ve brought enough to eat," Luo Shu said, smiling her thanks. She appreciated the woman’s kindness and wasn’t one to be ungrateful. All her belongings were stored in her spatial belongings, and the small backpack was just for appearances.
