Chapter 212: 211, Photography
The old man and his wife exchanged glances.
"Luo Shu, then please treat me," the old lady said with a smile. She had long since made peace with life and death, the only thing she couldn’t let go of was her husband. If Luo Shu could really cure her, she would be able to spend a few more years with him.
"Yes, please treat her!" the old man nodded in agreement. He had a good impression of Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo, especially Hanmo, who had an air of uprightness about him. Moreover, he had already decided, if his partner lived, he would live, and if she died, he would follow her. It was just a matter of time.
"Alright!" Luo Shu nodded. She took a silver needle and a disinfectant cotton ball out of her pocket and handed them to Lu Hanmo to disinfect the needle.
"Auntie, I’ll massage your acupoints first," Luo Shu said to the old lady.
"Thank you, Luo Shu!" the old lady thanked her with a smile. In the end, whether her body recovered or not, she was still grateful to Luo Shu, after all, they had just met. Her offer to treat her was a genuine kindness. Besides, she was someone who had already been sentenced to death.
Luo Shu extended her hand and began to massage the old lady through her clothing, channeling a stream of Inner Qi from her hand gradually into the lady’s body, regulating her meridians.
The old lady soon felt a warm sensation in her body, and the unbearable pain she had been feeling began to slowly dissipate with the warmth, a look of surprise appearing in her eyes. Hope was gradually taking root in her heart! Who would choose death if given the chance to live?
After massaging for tens of minutes, Luo Shu stopped and asked the old lady to remove her heavy outer clothes. She then took the Silver Needle from Lu Hanmo and quickly inserted it into the old lady’s acupoints.
The old man had been closely observing his wife’s complexion and noticed a blush appearing on her face, his heart filling with ecstatic joy. That’s great! It seems there really was hope! He hadn’t expected Luo Shu to actually have medical skills.
Luo Shu put away the Silver Needle and turned to the old man, "Uncle, do you have paper and pen? I’ll write you a prescription." She had already used her Inner Qi to kill the viral cells in the old lady’s body. However, the old lady was very weak and needed some time to recover.
"Yes, I’ll get them for you," the old man said happily, nodding and fetching paper and a pen for Luo Shu. Although he didn’t understand medicine, his partner’s condition was obviously much improved from before.
Luo Shu quickly wrote down the prescription and handed it to the old man, "Uncle, get this prescription filled at the pharmacy, and give Auntie the medicine twice a day. In at most one month, Auntie’s health should be restored."
The old man’s hands trembled as he took the prescription, his eyes filled with gratitude as he looked at Luo Shu, "Luo Shu, thank you! Thank you! You are truly our savior!"
Luo Shu smiled and shook her head, "Uncle, please help Auntie to bed to rest. We should be going back now."
"Please stay for dinner, I’ll go out and buy some groceries," the old man insisted. They had helped to treat his wife, he felt he must show some kind of appreciation.
"Uncle, there’s no need to trouble yourself, our family is waiting for us at home. We’ll come and disturb you another time!" Luo Shu smiled and waved at the couple as she and Lu Hanmo stepped out.
The old man hurried after them and followed them to the door, pausing only when Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo had left through the gate, watching them go.
"Old Zhang, who were those two just now? That girl, I feel like I’ve seen her somewhere before," Uncle Li, who lived in the same compound as Old Zhang, asked, puzzled, as he watched Luo Shu and the others leave.
"We met them on the street. That young lady knows a bit about medicine; she came to treat my wife. I can’t talk more now, my wife is alone in the house," replied Uncle Zhang before turning and entering the house.
"Knows a bit about medicine?" Uncle Li thought to himself, then, his eyes suddenly lighting up, he quickly ran back inside his house.
Uncle Zhang helped Aunt Zhang to the bed and wiped her face with a towel, "Mei, you take a nap, I’m going to the pharmacy to get your medicine."
"Okay!" Aunt Zhang nodded with a smile, indeed feeling a bit tired herself.
"Old Zhang! Old Zhang!" The voice of Uncle Li, tinged with excitement, came from outside.
"I’ll go take a look!" Uncle Zhang made sure Aunt Zhang was covered with the blanket, then called out to the outside, "Coming! Coming!"
Upon opening the door, there was Uncle Li, his face alight with excitement, holding a newspaper in his hands.
"What’s the matter?" Uncle Zhang asked. He and Uncle Li had been neighbors for decades and knew a thing or two about Uncle Li’s personality.
"Just look at this, the girl in the newspaper, isn’t she the same girl we just saw?" Uncle Li pointed to a photo in the newspaper excitedly.
Uncle Zhang took the newspaper and immediately recognized Luo Shu in the photo, and quickly read the content below. He used to read newspapers regularly, but he hadn’t been doing so as much since his partner fell ill.
"She is actually a divine healer!" Uncle Zhang exclaimed in shock.
Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo walked side by side on the way back, "Seeing those photos on their wall just now, I was really moved!" In the future, she and Hanmo would do the same.
"Shushu, I’m taking you to a place." Lu Hanmo smiled slightly and took Luo Shu’s hand, heading toward the street.
Outside a photo studio, Lu Hanmo looked at Luo Shu with a smile and led her inside, "From now on, let’s also take a photo every year like they do, okay?" One day when they were old, they could look through the photos together and reminisce about their youth.
"Okay!" Luo Shu’s smile was radiant.
A young man in formal attire and with a crew cut came out from inside. Seeing the couple, he asked with a smile, "Are you two here for a photo shoot?"
"Yes!" Lu Hanmo nodded slightly.
"Please follow me." The young man led the way in front and took Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo into the photography studio behind.
Pointing to a long bench below the backdrop, he asked, "Would you like to sit there? Would you prefer a black-and-white photo, or color?"
"Color." Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo said in unison.
"So, are you here for wedding photos or just regular ones?" the crew-cut man continued.
"Just a regular photo, do you have any other backdrops?" Luo Shu asked, glancing at the background behind her. This was her and Hanmo’s first picture together, and she hoped it could be a bit more special.
"No, I’m sorry!" the crew-cut man said apologetically.
"All right then," Luo Shu said, somewhat reluctantly.
"You two move a little closer together, I’m going to start taking pictures." The crew-cut man walked to the camera, looked through it at Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo, and gestured for them to move closer.
