Chapter 205: 204, Li Ahfu

When Luo Shu finished the treatment and looked up, she was startled by the scene outside. When had so many people crowded outside the ward?

Seeing that Luo Shu had finished the treatment, the hospital director and deputy director walked in, smiling warmly as they extended their hands to her, "Little Divine Doctor! Welcome to Lixing Hospital."

"Hello!" Luo Shu shook hands with both of them in turn.

"The medical skills of the Little Divine Doctor are truly astonishing. If you have time, please guide our hospital’s doctors," the hospital director said with a smile. He had met Luo Shu once before, but there were too many leaders present that time, and he had no chance to speak with her.

"Director, you flatter me. I’m primarily here to see this worker, and honestly, my medical skills are about the same as the doctors present," Luo Shu said with a humble smile. She naturally couldn’t go around instructing those doctors.

"Little Divine Doctor, you’re being too modest! Please, come sit in my office," the hospital director invited with a laugh. He was eager to forge a closer relationship with Luo Shu. He had heard she was on good terms with the Prefect and the Guard.

"Director, I’m very sorry! I can’t accommodate that this time; I’ve already promised to treat another injured person. Maybe next time," Luo Shu said with an apologetic smile.

"Is that so? Well then, okay! You must come next time!" the hospital director said, his face full of expectation.

"I will. Please take good care of this worker on my behalf; I must take my leave now, as the patient’s family is waiting for me." Luo Shu shook hands with the director and deputy director once again and left the ward with Wei Xiao. She was worried that if she stayed any longer, she would be trapped in the hospital unable to leave.

"Little Divine Doctor, please treat me."

"Little Divine Doctor! When will you have time?"

"Little Divine Doctor..."

After squeezing through the crowded masses, Luo Shu took a long breath of relief and hurried toward her car.

The injured worker, Li Ahfu, lived in Lingang Village. When Luo Shu’s car arrived at the entrance of the village, it immediately caught the attention of the villagers. In this era, owning a bicycle was enough to walk with one’s head held high, let alone a car.

There were many people in Lingang Village, and the houses were built close together. Because there had been rain over the past few days, the roads were a bit muddy, making it impossible for the car to drive in.

Luo Shu and Wei Xiao got out of the car, asked the surrounding villagers, and quickly received the address of Li Ahfu’s home, with one of the villagers enthusiastically leading the way.

With the New Year approaching and nothing much to do in the fields, the villagers spent their days chatting, playing cards, and enjoying the rare leisure days in the year.

Hearing the commotion outside, Li Ahfu’s wife walked out of the house. Seeing Luo Shu coming over, her face lit up with surprise, and she quickly stepped forward, "Little Divine Doctor, please come in." She thought that Luo Shu was only speaking casually and didn’t take her seriously, but to her surprise, she really came.

"Take me to see the injured, please," Luo Shu said.

"Of course!" Li Ahfu’s wife promptly led the way.

Li Ahfu’s house wasn’t very large, with only three tiled rooms.

In the courtyard, several chickens and ducks were scrambling for food, and a big yellow dog started barking at them as soon as they entered.

"No barking!" the old man sitting at the door basking in the sun scolded, and the big yellow dog immediately shrank its body and obediently lay on the ground.

"You’re here!" The old man knocked on his pipe and walked up with a beaming smile.

Luo Shu nodded with a faint smile, not wanting to talk much with him. It wasn’t that she looked down upon him; rather, it was his way of handling things that she found somewhat disagreeable.

Li Ahfu and his wife lived in the westernmost room. As they entered, they saw the room was divided into two parts: an inner and an outer. Li Ahfu and his wife lived in the outer room, while inside lived Li Ahfu’s second brother, Li Ahshui, and his wife.

The room’s furnishings were very simple; apart from a bed, there was only a five-drawer cabinet. Of course, even if there were more, there’d be no space to place them.

Luo Shu walked down the narrow path that only one person could pass and arrived beside the bed.

Li Ahfu, hearing footsteps, sat up on the bed, and upon seeing Luo Shu entering, he paused, "Boss, what brings you here?"

"I came to check on your injury." Luo Shu walked to the bed, asking Li Ahfu’s wife to roll up his trouser leg.

After a careful examination, Luo Shu took out a jar of ointment and handed it to Li Ahfu’s wife, "Apply it once in the morning and once at night, and the broken bone will heal in a week." The effects of her ointment were somewhat similar to the legendary Black Jade Intermittent Ointment.

"Thank you, Little Divine Doctor! Thank you! You are truly a living Bodhisattva!" Li Ahfu’s wife cried out in thanks. If her husband’s leg could heal, her future would have support to rely on.

"Boss, when my leg heals, I’ll go work on the construction site. I’ll work hard and won’t cause you any more trouble," Li Ahfu said, looking at Luo Shu with guilt. For her to come personally as the boss and treat his injury, how could he not be moved? Nowadays, it might be hard to find one hundred dogs, but easy to find one hundred people. Just a shout, and you could hire a hundred. That’s why he was even more moved!

Luo Shu smiled, took out two hundred from her pocket, and handed it to Li Ahfu, "Take this money and eat more nutritious food; it’s good for your leg."

"No! I can’t take it," Li Ahfu hurriedly pushed the money back. The accident was his fault, how could he have the audacity to take the money? Besides, it was more than his wage.

"Just take it, get well soon; we’re leaving now." Luo Shu stuffed the money into Li Ahfu’s hand and turned to leave.

Li Ahfu’s sister-in-law was squatting at the doorway eavesdropping. Hearing Luo Shu give money to Li Ahfu, her eyes lit up, and she walked towards her mother-in-law’s room. No matter the amount, money was money, and once it was in her mother-in-law’s hands, she’d have a share.

After sending Wei Xiao back to the construction site, Luo Shu went to the town’s sales point. It was still early, so she planned to buy some stuff to visit Aunt Chen and others the next morning.

Entering the sales point, Luo Shu had a brief look around. There weren’t many types of goods, and most required coupons for purchase. She wasn’t short on coupons, but the choices were indeed very limited.

After thinking it over, Luo Shu headed to the canned goods counter. Canned food had a long shelf life; she could eat it during the New Year or serve it to guests.

A sales clerk was squatting there, organizing the canned goods in the boxes to be placed on the shelves. During the holidays, canned foods were the best-sellers at the sales point.

Luo Shu went up and picked out two boxes of meat jelly and two bottles of orange canned food.

Just as she was about to go to the counter to check out, the clerk squatting on the ground sorting the goods stood up holding a few cans, coming face to face with Luo Shu.

Luo Shu, seeing the person opposite her, raised her eyebrows in surprise. She had not expected to encounter her here.
