Chapter 161: One hundred and sixty, feeling timid as one nears home

The plane descended slowly, and as Luo Shu gazed at the environment that was both familiar and foreign to her, a tinge of nostalgia rose in her heart. In her past life, she would also land here every time she returned from abroad.

This area was already under the jurisdiction of the Divine Doctor Family. To facilitate travel, an airport was purposely built behind their mountain.

"We’ve arrived, let’s get off," Luo Qianyu walked over to Luo Shu and said. Since boarding the plane, Luo Shu had appeared to be absent-minded.

"Okay!" Luo Shu snapped out of her reverie, nodded, and stood up.

The two of them disembarked from the plane and walked along a cobblestone path. Before long, they came upon a bamboo forest with a winding road that led deep into the thicket.

The closer they got to the Divine Doctor Family, the more restless Luo Shu felt in her heart. Perhaps this was what people referred to as feeling timid when approaching home.

Soon, several exquisitely constructed ancient-style courtyards appeared before them.

Gazing at her home that had barely changed from her previous life, Luo Shu’s eyes gradually began to well up with tears. Memories of her past life bubbled up like a gushing spring.

In the courtyard, a little girl with two braids, dressed in a pink Flame Robe, looking delicate and adorable, was playing and running around with two identical, handsome little boys. She accidentally fell to the ground.

"Shushu, are you okay?" the two little boys anxiously rushed over, one of them helping her up while the other gently patted the dust off her clothes.

The little girl smiled radiantly, shaking her head, "Big brother, second brother, I’m fine, let’s keep playing."

"How about we go fly kites on the back mountain?" one of the little boys suggested.

"Yes! Shushu loves flying kites the most." The little girl clapped her hands with joy.

One of the boys picked up the little girl, "Big brother will carry you."

"Let’s go, let’s fly the kites! Hahaha..." The sound of her silvery laughter echoed around them...

In a solemn and stately study, the little girl and the twin boys stood in a row facing a stern elder in formal attire who gazed seriously at the three, "I am writing a case study now. You will prescribe the medicine. Whoever makes a mistake will kneel in the ancestral hall as punishment."

The little girl exchanged a look with the two little boys, her lively starry eyes blinking at them.

The two little boys smiled and nodded in acknowledgment. Their sister was immensely talented, but having only recently started studying medicine, mistakes were inevitable. To prevent their sister from kneeling as punishment, they were happy to take the blame instead.

In the ancestral hall, candlelight flickered, and three small figures knelt in a row.

The little girl looked around, flipped her hand, took out several pastries from a space, and handed them to the boys next to her, "Big brother, second brother, eat quickly!" She had a space, so naturally, they wouldn’t go hungry, but if their grandfather found out, they would surely be in for a scolding.

"Luo Shu, what’s wrong?" Seeing Luo Shu with tear-stained cheeks, Luo Qianyu was full of surprise. Luo Shu had been acting strangely all day, especially the way she looked at this place, as if she was reminiscing about something.

Luo Shu snapped out of her memories, feeling the coolness on her face and realizing she hadn’t managed to control her emotions.

Wiping the tears from her face, Luo Shu showed a smile, "I’m fine, maybe some dust blew into my eyes." The two boys from her memories had not yet come into this world. Perhaps in this life, she would have the chance to see them born.

Luo Qianyu smiled faintly, "Let’s go in!" He naturally didn’t believe the excuse given by Luo Shu, but he didn’t want to expose her either.

The two entered the hall where two middle-aged men were playing chess. The two bore a resemblance to each other, but one had a trace of vicissitudes on his face. His eyes were calm and motionless, giving a sense that he had seen through everything.

Grandfather! The moment Luo Shu saw Luo Xiuran, the emotions that had just calmed down almost surged out of control again. She took a deep breath to stabilize her feelings.

Luo Shu’s breathing seemed to have disturbed the chess players, and both Luo Xiuran and Luo Xiuyi turned their heads to look at her simultaneously.

One was stern! The other was astonished!

"Yushuang!" A glimmer appeared in Luo Xiuyi’s otherwise dead eyes.

Luo Shu looked at Luo Xiuyi with some surprise. In her previous life, she had heard of this second great-uncle but had never met him.

Luo Qianyu spoke with a smile, "Dad! Second uncle! She is Luo Shu, my acknowledged sister."

Upon hearing the name, Luo Xiuran knew that Luo Shu was that woman’s child, and a trace of displeasure appeared on his face. However, he couldn’t understand why he didn’t feel any dislike towards Luo Shu. Logically, considering that woman had caused his younger brother such misery, he should detest her child.

He frowned, looking at Luo Shu, and meeting her slightly moist, nervous eyes holding a hint of anticipation, Luo Xiuran unexpectedly felt a touch of kinship. What was going on?
