Chapter 144 - 143, Spirit Stone
Chapter 144: 143, Spirit Stone
Luo Shu carefully examined the bronze coffin and quickly noticed a black spot in the eye of the dragon depicted on it. Clearly, this was the mechanism to unlock the bronze coffin.
"Brother, step back a little," Luo Shu said to Luo Qianyu, who was trying to push the coffin lid open. Although they had defense talismans on them, the bronze coffin was no ordinary object, and it was better to be cautious.
"I’ll do it," Luo Qianyu stepped forward and said.
"Alright," Luo Shu smiled and nodded, retreating to the side.
Luo Qianyu crouched down, examined the mechanism, and pressed it. As it slowly depressed, there was a "boom!" and the lid of the coffin began to move.
Luo Shu and Luo Qianyu watched the bronze coffin warily, but to their surprise, aside from a strong surge of spiritual energy, the danger they had anticipated did not materialize.
"Luo Shu, let me check first!" Luo Qianyu said. This was not a time to be careless.
Luo Shu smiled and nodded. She had complete trust in her.
Luo Qianyu gave a slight smile, leaned over to look inside the coffin, and saw, "There’s just a small wooden box inside."
Luo Shu stepped forward to see into the coffin as well, and observed that apart from an inconspicuous small wooden box in the corner, it was empty. However, spiritual energy was continuously seeping out of the wooden box, indicating that whatever was inside was not simple.
She took out a talisman and threw it cautiously into the bronze coffin. Seeing that there were no formations or traps, Luo Shu asked Luo Qianyu to retrieve the small wooden box.
They opened the small wooden box with great care and found six small white stones and an old, somewhat tattered sheepskin scroll.
Luo Shu picked up one of the small stones and immediately felt a thick spiritual energy, "Could this be the legendary Spirit Stone?" She once heard from her grandfather that ancient martial arts families were not the most powerful entities in this world.
There were others in the world, inaccessible to them, known as True Cultivators. And those True Cultivators cultivated using these very Spirit Stones. Bian Que, who had given their ancestors the Plum Blossom Space, was said to have been a True Cultivator.
Luo Qianyu picked up the sheepskin scroll and unfolded it, only to see it filled with ancient characters, which made him frown. These characters were older than any he had ever encountered; he couldn’t understand them at all.
"Luo Shu, can you understand these characters?" Luo Qianyu passed the sheepskin scroll to Luo Shu.
Luo Shu glanced at the characters on the scroll and shook her head. She had never seen this script before.
"You keep this," Luo Qianyu placed the sheepskin scroll into Luo Shu’s hands, looking at the Spirit Stones inside the wooden box, "I’ll take one, the rest are for you." Without Luo Shu, they couldn’t have obtained these.
"We’ll split them equally." She would have agreed if it were a stranger, but there was nothing she wouldn’t give to her own family.
Luo Qianyu curled his lips and ruffled Luo Shu’s hair, "Then I’ll take two." He felt very fortunate to have such a sister. Once he got out, he definitely had to look into Luo Shu’s relationship with their second uncle. Although he was puzzled about the Plum Blossom Space, he felt that Luo Shu must be related to their Divine Doctor Family. Even if she wasn’t, in his heart, she would always be his sister.
Luo Shu didn’t refuse further and put the remaining Spirit Stones and the sheepskin scroll into her own space, glanced at the sealed exit, and shook her head with a helpless smile, "Now we have another problem, how are we going to get out of here?"
Luo Qianyu looked around and walked to one side, "If we have no other choice, we’ll just have to dig our way out." He had tools for digging in his space, he just didn’t know how deep underground they were currently.
"That’s actually a good idea, haha..." Luo Shu couldn’t help but start laughing.
Luo Qianyu touched his nose awkwardly, also feeling that his idea was a bit rotten, "Let’s keep looking to see if there are any other mechanisms."
"Okay!" Luo Shu laughed and nodded, squatting down again to search near the bronze coffin. Her only regret now was that she couldn’t understand the text on the sheepskin scroll; perhaps it contained a way out.
Looking again towards where they had come from, she suddenly had an idea, her eyes lighting up, "I have an idea!"
"What is it?" Luo Qianyu asked, poking his head out from the coffin.
"The snakes we saw earlier." Since the snakes were able to leave so suddenly, perhaps they knew the way out.
Luo Qianyu jumped out of the coffin, "Let’s give it a try." He had guessed that the abrupt departure of the snakes was related to Luo Shu, and it seemed he was right.
Luo Shu nodded and communicated with Xiao Qing using her consciousness, "Xiao Qing, have the snakes show us the way out."
Xiao Qing was staring at the small wooden box filled with Spirit Stones with bright eyes. Hearing Luo Shu, he said, "Master, I know the way out, I’ll lead you. But could you give me one more Spirit Stone?"
