Chapter 125: One hundred twenty-four, family affection
In a certain town in Cloud City where Lu Hanmo was distributing antidotes, he suddenly felt a tickle in his nose and sneezed. Could he have caught a cold?
"Instructor! All the medicines have been distributed," a young man ran over to Lu Hanmo and reported.
Lu Hanmo nodded, "Let’s move on to the next town."
Although Cloud City was not a major city in Yan Country, the combined number of its towns and villages amounted to several thousand. To distribute the antidote to all of them would take at least about a week’s time.
Furthermore, this would require assistance from various Public Security Offices, town governments, and village committees to ensure not a single person in the entire Cloud City was missed.
After returning to her room, Luo Shu soon fell asleep. By the time she woke up again, the sky outside had already darkened.
"Luo Shu, are you awake?" The deep and pleasant voice of Luo Qianyu came from outside the door.
"I’m awake!" Luo Shu replied.
"Then come out for dinner, it’s ready. I’ll wait for you in the living room."
A smile of happiness crept across Luo Shu’s face, "Okay, I’ll be right there!" In that instant, she felt as if she had returned to her past life when her father would also often come to wake her up for meals.
After freshening up quickly and arriving in the living room, she saw that the dining table was already laden with dishes. A wave of profound happiness filled Luo Shu; it had been so long since she had eaten food prepared by her father.
In her previous life, her father would only cook on her mother’s birthday or their birthdays.
In the Divine Doctor Family, culinary skills were a compulsory lesson for everyone, so they were all masters of cooking. However, they were usually too busy cultivating and researching medicine to have time to cook.
"Try my cooking and see how it tastes," Luo Qianyu walked in from the outside, handing Luo Shu her bowl and chopsticks.
"I can tell it’s delicious just by looking at it." Luo Shu smiled as she took the bowl and chopsticks. Once Luo Qianyu sat down opposite her, she began to eat.
Eating with a contented expression, the familiar flavors spread in Luo Shu’s mouth, and she couldn’t help but let out a joyful smile. If possible, she really wished she could stay with her father forever. And her grandfather, she missed him too! She wondered if there would ever be a chance to see him again. Would he be as kind to her as her father was?
And her mother, she must be studying at Jinchen right now. She really wanted to see what her young mother looked like.
Thinking this, Luo Shu couldn’t help but laugh. Was she being too greedy?
"Are you thinking about something fun? Can you share it so we can enjoy it together?" Seeing the smile on Luo Shu’s face, Luo Qianyu asked with a laugh. The more time he spent with Luo Shu, the fonder he grew of her. But his affection was without any romantic element, purely a brotherly love for a sister.
"I just feel very lucky all of a sudden!" Luo Shu swallowed the food in her mouth and looked at Luo Qianyu with a beaming smile.
"Why do I feel this way?" Luo Qianyu raised an eyebrow and asked.
"Because I have you, this handsome guy, cooking for me," Luo Shu said and couldn’t help but laugh. In her past life, she often joked around with her father in a similar manner, without much concern for formality. Though they were father and daughter, more often, they were like friends who could talk about anything.
Sometimes, her father would even join in on the mischief, but the outcome would always be the same: they ended up being scolded by her mother. She had it easier and would just receive a few critical words. Her father had it worse, often getting kicked out of bed or sent to sleep in the guest room.
Luo Qianyu shook his head with a smile, a helpless expression on his face, "You! Aren’t you afraid that Lu Hanmo will get jealous when he finds out?" He could see that Luo Shu’s affections for him were akin to those for a family member. So interacting with her was comfortable and didn’t require much consideration.
"He wouldn’t be jealous of you at all," Luo Shu stated confidently. Lu Hanmo knew about their relationship; how could he possibly be jealous of her own father? If she knew that Lu Hanmo had once been jealous of his own self, she probably wouldn’t think this way.
"That’s not always the case. Sometimes a man’s heart can be very small, especially in front of a woman he cares about," Luo Qianyu commented as he picked up a piece of sweet and sour pork rib and placed it in Luo Shu’s bowl.
At that moment, a flash of a graceful silhouette crossed his mind. Although he had only seen her briefly, she had left an indelible mark on his heart.
He wasn’t a man prone to emotional whims, and he had seen many outstanding women, yet none had ever rippled his heart. But this time, he encountered two: one was Luo Shu, and the other was her. The difference was that his feelings for Luo Shu were purely familial, while for her, it was true affection.
"Big Brother Luo, eat this," Luo Shu said as she picked up a piece of yam and placed it into Luo Qianyu’s bowl. She remembered her father’s fondness for yams. In her space, she still grew the yams he had planted himself. With no seasonal changes and the nourishment of spiritual energy, the yams in her space tasted even better than those bought outside.
Luo Qianyu nodded with a smile, took a bite of the yam in his bowl, and after some thought, said, "Luo Shu, you know about my identity, right?"
"I know!" Luo Shu nodded. How could she not know about his identity?
"So when are you free? I’d like to invite you to my house as a guest," Luo Qianyu revealed his intention.
"To your house as a guest?" Luo Shu’s eyes instantly lit up. Could she really go to the Divine Doctor Family’s house as a guest?
"My father has heard about you and wants to meet you," Luo Qianyu revealed frankly, not intending to hide this from Luo Shu. He didn’t want to force her; it all depended on her willingness.
"Your father... he knows about me too?" Luo Shu was astonished. Currently, she was just an ordinary country girl; how could his grandfather know about her?
"Yes! To be honest, the reason I came to find you is because of this. Of course, if you don’t want to go, I won’t force you," Luo Qianyu said.
"I’d like to go, so when shall we go?" Of course, she wanted to go. That was her home in her past life, after all. Now that she had the opportunity to visit, how could she be unwilling?
"You really want to go? Aren’t you afraid that we might harm you?" Luo Qianyu looked at Luo Shu, somewhat puzzled. She didn’t seem impulsive, so did she really have no apprehensions about them?
"I trust that you won’t harm me," Luo Shu smiled confidently. They were her dearest ones; how could she possibly doubt them? Even though she was no longer their relative in this life, she still trusted them the most.
