Chapter 110: One Hundred and Nine, Arrest People
Luo Shu had just stepped out of Qin Che’s house when she saw Chen Zhihe leading two security officers towards this direction.
"Big Brother Chen, why have you come here?" Luo Shu glanced at the two security officers behind Chen Zhihe and asked.
"We’re here to make an arrest. What are you doing here?" Chen Zhihe was also very surprised to see Luo Shu. Although her home wasn’t far from here, if she did go out, she shouldn’t be heading this way.
"Make an arrest?" Luo Shu frowned and glanced at Qin Che’s home, harboring some unpleasant guesses in her heart.
"Yes, there have been several knife-point robberies in the town recently, and we’re here to capture the suspect." Chen Zhihe gestured to the two security officers behind him to rush in and make the arrest. For over half a month, he had been nearly exhausted by this case, and now he finally had a lead.
"Is it Qin Che?" Luo Shu frowned and asked, already certain of the answer. Qin Che, alone and taking care of his sick father, didn’t even have food at home. If he didn’t find a way to get money, they probably would’ve starved to death.
"You know Qin Che?" Chen Zhihe was astonished. No wonder she had just come out of Qin Che’s house.
Luo Shu nodded slightly, "I just treated his father. Big Brother Chen, has Qin Che hurt anyone?" She needed to understand the severity of the case.
"No, it’s just that the victims were robbed of some money, but the amount wasn’t much, just a few dollars." Chen Zhihe said. His mind was quick, and since Luo Shu asked this question, she surely wanted to save Qin Che.
There was a commotion in the yard, and Luo Shu turned her head to look. She saw Qin Che being escorted out by the two security officers.
Seeing Luo Shu standing at the gate, a flicker of guilt and an apology crossed Qin Che’s eyes, more so than nervousness. He really didn’t want Luo Shu to see this scene. If he had a choice, he wouldn’t have wanted to do such a thing, but he couldn’t just watch his father die of illness.
"Big Brother Chen, I remember that the criminal law states that anyone under the age of 14 is not criminally responsible for any conduct. And if the person is between 14 and 18 years old and commits a crime, he should be punished more leniently or have their punishment reduced. Is that right?" Luo Shu asked.
"That’s right!" Chen Zhihe nodded. With Luo Shu’s current connections, even if Qin Che was over 18, it would be easy for her to protect him. With that in mind, why wouldn’t he do her a favor and earn some good will?
Luo Shu turned to look at Qin Che, "Qin Che, how old are you now?"
"I just turned fifteen." Qin Che replied.
Luo Shu smiled and looked at Chen Zhihe, "Big Brother Chen, I’ll compensate for the victims’ losses. Could you please handle the follow-up? Is that alright?"
"No problem! Leave it to me!" Chen Zhihe assured her with a laugh, patting his chest, and waved to the two security officers holding Qin Che, "Let him go, and let’s pull out!"
The security officers looked at Luo Shu in surprise and released Qin Che. They had seen Luo Shu before but didn’t expect that with just a few words from her, their chief would release the prisoner.
"Then I’ll be going now," Chen Zhihe said with a smile.
"Okay! I’ll treat you to a meal when I have time," Luo Shu said, smiling and waving to Chen Zhihe.
Until Chen Zhihe and his men had walked far away, Qin Che still couldn’t believe he had been released like that. When the two security officers rushed into his home, he knew his actions had been exposed. He wasn’t worried about himself; his concern was who would feed his father and take care of him if he got caught. So at that moment, he thought of many things, including the idea of running away.
"It’s alright now, go back and take care of your father. I should be going back as well," Luo Shu said to Qin Che with a smile. After interacting with Qin Che, she felt that he was inherently not a bad person, which is why she was willing to help him.
"Thank you! I won’t let you down," Qin Che said earnestly, looking at Luo Shu.
Luo Shu curved her lips into a smile and started walking towards her home.
Just as she pushed open the courtyard gate, she saw Luo Zheng cleaning the courtyard, "Xiao Zheng. " The day after Luo Shan returned to Luo Family Village, Luo Zheng had come back to the village worried about her after school each day.
"Big Sister!" Holding a broom, Luo Zheng came over with a smile.
"How is Second Sister doing now?" Luo Shu asked. Although she didn’t agree with Luo Shan’s decision, Luo Shan was still the original host’s younger sister, connected to her by unbreakable blood ties.
"She’s already started working, right here at the village collective. The person in charge found her a light job with a good salary, forty dollars a month," Luo Zheng said happily. Compared to his big sister, he was more worried about Second Sister. That was why he had followed her back to the village, fearing that she would be bullied by their father.
"Hmm," Luo Shu nodded. That was all the help she could offer Luo Shan for now. As for the future, it was up to her to fend for herself.
After hesitating, Luo Zheng spoke up, "Big Sister, Second Sister said she won’t come back again and asked me to thank you for looking after her." He had tried to persuade Second Sister, but she was stubbornly unwilling to listen, and there was nothing he could do.
"I know!" Luo Shu said indifferently with a nod. In fact, she had known that Luo Shan wouldn’t come back when she decided to move away. That’s why she had arranged a stable job for her through her godmother.
