Chapter 1034: One thousand and thirty-two, suffer in silence
The black-robed elder saw the cooperation of the crowd and smiled with satisfaction. His powerful Divine Sense spread out rapidly, scanning everyone’s storage rings. Whenever he discovered something valuable, he would unapologetically transfer it into his own ring.
Faced with the shameless actions of the black-robed elder, the people present could only swallow their anger. After all, this world was one where strength dictated everything. Since their strength was inferior to his, they had no choice but to endure silently.
The black-robed elder’s Divine Sense swept across everyone’s rings one by one, and soon reached Luo Shu and her companions. Seeing the contents of their rings, he sneered disdainfully. Loose cultivators were indeed just loose cultivators—there wasn’t a single decent treasure among them. However, their strength was quite impressive, which likely meant all their valuable resources had already been consumed in cultivation.
After scanning everyone’s storage rings thoroughly, the black-robed elder withdrew his Divine Sense with satisfaction. Although he hadn’t found Heavenly Water, the harvest this time was still decent.
Looking at the crowd, the black-robed elder said in a deep voice, "If anyone knows the whereabouts of Heavenly Water, inform me. If the information proves accurate, I’ll reward you." Heavenly Water was immensely beneficial for cultivation, and he was reluctant to give up so easily. However, he had already investigated the rings on the ship and found no traces of Heavenly Water. Even if someone possessed a Small World-type magical treasure, there should’ve been at least a faint aura left on them. Yet, he hadn’t sensed any such presence among the passengers. Could it be that the person who took Heavenly Water wasn’t actually on board the Immortal Ship?
The more the black-robed elder thought about it, the more plausible this seemed. Whoever outmaneuvered him must be at least as strong as him, possibly someone also drawn to this void to seek opportunities. For cultivators at the Divine King Realm, tearing through the interface to enter the void wasn’t too difficult.
Elder Li from Great Mahayana Island glanced at Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo, his lips moving slightly, yet he decided not to speak. He could use the black-robed elder’s hand to kill Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo, thus resolving his personal grievance. But doing so would also mean their secrets would fall into the elder’s possession. If the sect discovered his actions, there would undoubtedly be repercussions for him.
Glancing at the crowd once more, the black-robed elder handed a talisman to the steward nearby and said, "Notify me immediately if there’s any discovery."
"Understood!" The steward accepted the talisman and nodded in response.
The black-robed elder swept his gaze over the crowd one last time before leaping into the air and swiftly leaving the area protected by the ship’s Formation Prohibition.
Only after the elder disappeared into the distance did everyone’s tightly strained nerves begin to relax.
"What a shameless scoundrel! He took my Fiery Extreme Star Crystal!"
"My Jade Twin Rings were stolen as well."
"You think that’s bad? The amount of things I’ve lost is staggering. Just thinking about it makes my heart ache."
"Enough complaining, everyone. If he changes his mind and comes back, we’ll be in big trouble."
Upon hearing this, the crowd nervously glanced in the direction the black-robed elder had left, then dispersed one by one to their rooms. Their best option was to focus on cultivation—perhaps one day they could become as powerful as him.
"Let’s head to the tavern for some drinks," Xiao Yao suggested, needing to vent his anger. His Ink Fire Purple Cloud Crystal and Green Nether Fruit had also been taken away. That shameless old bastard!
"Let’s go!" Yun Han was equally frustrated. A drink might help improve his mood.
Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo exchanged a glance, a faint smile appearing on their lips before they followed Yun Han and Xiao Yao ahead.
As the four reached the entrance to the third floor of the Immortal Ship, they were stopped.
"Loose cultivators must pay one hundred Medium Grade Immortal Crystals to enter the third floor," said the person blocking them.
"It wasn’t like this before!" Xiao Yao, already fuming, roared in frustration upon hearing the demand.
The man shrank back in fear after Xiao Yao’s outburst. "This rule was issued recently. We’re simply following orders."
"Let’s just go inside." Yun Han handed four hundred Medium Grade Immortal Crystals to the guard, pulling Xiao Yao forward and into the third floor. Yun Han knew Xiao Yao was upset, but making a scene on the ship wouldn’t do them any good. Even the two stewards on deck earlier possessed cultivation far superior to theirs.
The four of them entered a tavern and found a place to sit down.
"Bring us ten jugs of wine!" Xiao Yao called loudly to the attendant.
"All right, coming right up!" the attendant replied cheerfully.
In no time, the wine was served.
Xiao Yao grabbed a jug and chugged several large gulps, his frustration easing slightly in the process. "That old bastard shamelessly robbed me! Once I raise my cultivation, I’m definitely going to teach him a lesson!"
"Funny, I was thinking the same thing. Make sure you take me along when the time comes," Luo Shu said with a playful smile.
Xiao Yao laughed and nodded, then downed another large swig. "Now I feel much better." He was the type to get angry quickly but calm down just as fast.
"Here, take this." Lu Hanmo placed a storage ring on the table in front of Xiao Yao and Yun Han.
"What are you doing?" Yun Han and Xiao Yao stared at the ring in surprise and then back at Lu Hanmo in confusion.
Yun Han hesitated briefly before scanning the storage ring with his Divine Sense. His eyes widened in shock. "How is this even possible?!" When had Lu Hanmo taken these things? There hadn’t been the slightest hint of it! The gap between their abilities was only growing clearer to Yun Han now. It looked like he needed to work harder in the future.
"Keep it for now—divide it up once we’re back," Lu Hanmo advised.
Yun Han nodded with a smile and stashed the ring away. "Thanks! For now, let’s keep it a secret from Xiao Yao. Otherwise, he might get too excited and let it slip to others."
"What is it?" Xiao Yao asked curiously, noticing Yun Han had already pocketed the ring.
"I’ll show you once we’re back," Yun Han said, feigning mystery with a grin.
Xiao Yao shot Yun Han a half-hearted glare before lifting his jug with a laugh. "Drink up! Drink up! Drown our sorrows in wine!"
Luo Shu, Lu Hanmo, and Yun Han also picked up their jugs and clinked them heavily against Xiao Yao’s. "Cheers!"
"Already drinking, are you?" Ye Lifeng smiled as he walked over to join them, plopping down in a seat beside Luo Shu and the others.
Xiao Yao grabbed another jug and handed it to Ye Lifeng. "You seem in good spirits. Don’t tell me that old bastard didn’t rob you of anything?"
"Of course he did! I was just brooding about it earlier." Ye Lifeng took the jug, raised it to his lips, and took a hearty swig. "But I heard something good, and my mood brightened again."
"What good news?" everyone asked in unison.
