Chapter 1009: 1007, Heart Fluttering

Luo Shu sat down on the chair and opened the book to read.

After reading for a while, Luo Shu closed the book. Although each book mentioned the Holy Tree, it only described it in a few lines, merely stating that the Holy Tree was in Holy Light City and had the ability to strengthen the body and cleanse the spirit. None of the books included any illustrations of the Holy Tree.

The jade slip Lin Jue had given them only mentioned that there were Star Origin Fruits in Shuize Country. None of the cultivators who traveled to Shuize Country to find the Star Origin Fruits had ever returned, so the exact location of the Star Origin Fruit Tree wasn’t documented in the jade slip.

"Did you find anything useful?" Luo Shu asked as she looked at Lu Hanmo.

"No, the content recorded is pretty much the same," Lu Hanmo replied as he finished the last book and closed it.

"It seems we’ll have to investigate on our own," Luo Shu said. Some of the effects attributed to the Holy Tree were also present in the Star Origin Fruit, which made her sixty to seventy percent certain that the tree they were looking for was indeed the Holy Tree.

Leaving the study, Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo didn’t return to their rooms but instead strolled around the courtyard.

The back courtyard of the City Lord’s Mansion was spacious. Between each yard, there were artificial hills and lotus ponds. In the lotus ponds swam pitch-black fish that were different from any they had seen before. Moreover, the fish exuded a mysterious power.

The two arrived at the Lake Heart Pavilion in the center of the pond and sat down on the chairs inside.

Shuimu Ye and Mrs. Shui stayed in Shuimu Yan’s courtyard for a while before leaving and heading toward their own courtyard. As they passed by the lotus pond, Shuimu Ye noticed Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo sitting in the Lake Heart Pavilion enjoying the scenery.

She turned to Mrs. Shui and said, "Mother, you go ahead. I’ll go chat with them."

Mrs. Shui glanced at the two figures in the pavilion. "Alright, but treat them well." After all, they had helped Yaenyaen, and she couldn’t afford to neglect them.

"Don’t worry, Mother," Shuimu Ye said with a playful smile and walked toward the Lake Heart Pavilion.

Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo saw Shuimu Ye approaching and stopped their conversation, nodding at her in greeting.

"Hello, I’m Shuimu Yan’s younger sister, Shuimu Ye," Shuimu Ye said as she walked up and sat down on a chair.

"Hello!" Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo greeted her with a smile.

"I heard from my brother that your medical skills are exceptional. I’ve been studying medical texts lately; could you teach me?" Shuimu Ye asked as she looked at Luo Shu. When she caught sight of Luo Shu’s bright, star-like eyes, her heart skipped a beat for no apparent reason.

Luo Shu nodded, "Miss Shuimu, if you have any questions, feel free to come to me anytime."

"Thank you very much!" Shuimu Ye said cheerfully.

"You’re welcome!" Luo Shu replied with a smile.

Seeing Luo Shu’s smile, Shuimu Ye felt her heart flutter erratically. Was she falling for her? Impossible—they had just met.

She turned to look at the scenery outside the pavilion, trying to calm her heartbeat. "Let me have someone bring you a pot of tea," she said. She didn’t dare to look at Luo Shu’s eyes again, afraid she might lose herself in them.

"No need. We’re just sitting for a short while and will leave soon," Luo Shu said, shaking her head. She had sensed Shuimu Ye’s erratic heartbeat and suspected she might have feelings for Hanmo.

Shuimu Ye glanced at the maid next to her. "Xiao Yu, bring a pot of tea and some snacks." She didn’t want their conversation to end so quickly.

"Yes, Miss!" Xiao Yu responded, then turned to leave.

"I heard from my brother that you’re planning to go to Holy Light City?" Shuimu Ye asked, glancing at Luo Shu before shifting her gaze to Lu Hanmo.

"We’re hoping to catch a glimpse of the Holy Tree’s magnificence. Neither Lu Mo nor I have seen the Holy Tree before," Luo Shu replied with anticipation.

"You’ve never seen it?" Shuimu Ye said, surprised.

When Luo Shu nodded, she continued, "I’ve seen it once. That Holy Tree is massive, with golden leaves, and it bears some Holy Fruits. When the Light Domain in Holy Light City opens, everyone who visits can taste the water infused with Holy Fruit Juice." Thinking of the Holy Water, Shuimu Ye grew excited—it made her skin smoother and whiter.

Xiao Yu returned with tea and snacks. She removed them from the tray and placed them on the table one by one.

"Holy Water?" Luo Shu asked, slightly surprised.

Shuimu Ye nodded. "When the Light Domain opens, three Holy Fruits fall automatically from the Holy Tree. The Holy Son of Holy Light City then prepares juice from those three Holy Fruits and mixes it with water for everyone to enjoy. Drinking it makes you feel incredibly energized." Moreover, it even made skin smooth and radiant.

"That makes visiting even more worthwhile. Miss Shuimu, do you know if there are other trees besides the Holy Tree that are similar to it?" Luo Shu asked. Based on Shuimu Ye’s description, she was now certain the Holy Tree wasn’t the Star Origin Fruit Tree.

"Yes, there are other trees near the Holy Tree. One of them is called the Star Origin Fruit Tree, along with the Cold Marrow Branch Tree and Soul-Reviving Demon Fruit Tree," Shuimu Ye said.

Luo Shu’s eyes lit up instantly. As long as the Star Origin Fruit Tree was there, that was all that mattered.

"Holy Light City is also the most prosperous city in Shuize Country," Shuimu Ye said, meeting Luo Shu’s bright gaze, though she quickly looked away in a panic.

"I’ve heard about it before, but I’ve never had the time to visit. This time, I finally managed to make time," Luo Shu said as she lifted the teacup in front of her and took a sip.

"My brother says we’ll set out once his injuries heal enough," Shuimu Ye said with a smile. The idea of traveling with "them" made her feel less likely to be bored. She was looking forward to the journey.

Shuimu Gang returned to his room, exhausted, and sat down by the chair.

"Didn’t catch anyone, did you?" Mrs. Shui walked up to Shuimu Gang and helped him take off his outer robe.

"We’ve searched all day and night without finding even a shred of a clue," Shuimu Gang said, frustrated. He couldn’t let the person who had hurt his son go unpunished; he was determined to turn Shuimu City upside down if needed.

Mrs. Shui gently patted Shuimu Gang’s shoulder, then walked to the table to pour him a cup of water. She handed it to him and said, "Don’t overwork yourself. I visited Yaenyaen today; his injuries have mostly healed, thanks to the pharmacist who treated him. His medical skills are really impressive. Yaenyaen has already invited the pharmacist and ’his’ friend to stay at the mansion for the next few days."

"You’ve met them?" Seeing his wife nod, Shuimu Gang asked further, "What’s your impression of them?" His wife’s judgment of people had always been accurate.

"Dignified and remarkable," Mrs. Shui replied. That was her first impression of Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo. Truth be told, Luo Yu didn’t quite seem like a pharmacist to her.
