Chapter 1007: Connections Woven Through Wounds
As the hidden arrow was pulled out, Luo Shu took out a bottle of medicine powder, opened the cap, and sprinkled the powder onto Shuimu Yan’s wound. She then took out a roll of gauze from her chest pocket and carefully bandaged his wound.
"Avoid water for the next few days, and you’ll be fine soon," Luo Shu looked at Shuimu Yan and instructed him.
"Thank you." Shuimu Yan expressed his gratitude. He could already feel that his wound hurt much less after the powder was applied.
"You’re welcome! Here, take this medicine powder and change it once a day," Luo Shu handed the medicine powder to Shuimu Yan, stood up, and left the Flower Moving Building with Lu Hanmo.
Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo randomly found a Qi Inn in the street and checked in. They were confident that it wouldn’t be long before Shuimu Yan would come looking for them.
Shortly after the two entered their room, a shadow flitted inside.
"Master!" The shadow approached Luo Shu.
"Well done. What about Cui Xiang?" Luo Shu asked, her gaze falling on the shadow. The shadow was Xiao Hei in transformed form. Although there were mysterious forces at play here, rendering the use of Immortal Spirit Energy impossible, the energy stored in her spatial field allowed her to remain unaffected.
She had instructed Xiao Hei to abduct Cui Xiang and wound Shuimu Yan for one sole purpose—building a connection with Shuimu Yan. Shuimu Yan was the young city lord of Shuimu City, and becoming acquainted with him would make certain matters much more convenient.
"I knocked her out and tossed her into an alley," Xiao Hei reported.
Luo Shu nodded slightly, then placed Xiao Hei back into her spatial field.
The news of Shuimu Yan’s injury immediately alarmed the City Lord, causing Shuimu City to enter lockdown mode, where everyone was subjected to inspection.
"Yan’er, how is your injury?" Shuimu Yan’s mother rushed over anxiously upon seeing him return.
"It’s fine now." Shuimu Yan replied. Though the wound still hurt a little, it wasn’t serious. This was all thanks to the pharmacist who treated him.
"As long as you’re okay! Your father has ordered a city-wide lockdown. We’ll soon find the person who hurt you." Seeing her son seemingly unharmed, Shuimu Yan’s mother sighed in relief.
Returning to his room, Shuimu Yan had just changed into fresh clothes when his father entered.
"Father!" Shuimu Yan called out.
Shuimu Gang waved his hand dismissively, "How is your wound? Why didn’t you call a pharmacist to take another look?"
"It’s nothing serious anymore." Shuimu Yan sat down with Shuimu Gang.
"What happened this time?" Shuimu Gang asked. He had only heard a rough outline of the incident.
"I was competing with Li Feiyi for Cui Xiang when a man in black appeared on stage, abducted Cui Xiang, and shot me with a hidden arrow. If it hadn’t been for a pharmacist nearby who treated my wound, I wouldn’t be in such ease now. Father, I’d like to invite that pharmacist and his friend to the City Lord’s Mansion as guests," Shuimu Yan said. He still couldn’t fathom who might have wanted him dead.
Shuimu Gang nodded thoughtfully and asked after a moment’s pause, "Who do you think might be behind this?"
Shuimu Yan shook his head, "I don’t have grudges with anyone." Although he and Li Feiyi were often at odds, he trusted that Li Feiyi wouldn’t resort to something like this. It wouldn’t benefit him at all.
Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo stepped out of their room and were about to grab breakfast when two middle-aged men dressed as servants approached.
"Excuse me, are you the ones who treated our young city lord’s injuries?" one of them asked.
Luo Shu nodded, confused, "Has something happened?" Everything was perfectly within her expectations.
"Our young city lord has instructed us to invite you and your friend to the City Lord’s Mansion as guests," the other said.
"I see." Luo Shu pondered briefly. "I think I’ll pass. Treating your young city lord was just a small favor; there’s no need to be so formal."
"Our young city lord specifically requested that we bring you back,"
"We must fulfill his orders; please understand our position,"
Luo Shu exchanged a glance with Lu Hanmo, hesitated for a moment, but eventually nodded reluctantly. "Alright, lead the way."
Shuimu Yan was lying in bed resting. After a night’s time, his wound no longer hurt at all. If not for seeing the wound while changing the medicine, he might have thought he was completely healed.
"Knock, knock, knock!" A gentle knock sounded at the door.
Promptly, a subordinate’s voice came through, "Young Master, we’ve brought the pharmacist and his friend back."
"Let them in," Shuimu Yan replied.
"Understood!" The subordinate answered and pushed the door open, leading Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo inside.
"Please take a seat." Shuimu Yan gestured with a smile toward the chairs nearby. Having been injured, his demeanor carried traces of weariness, making his movements appear more languid and charming.
Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo nodded politely and took their seats.
"Thank you so much for yesterday! If it weren’t for you, my injury wouldn’t have healed so quickly," Shuimu Yan expressed his gratitude to Luo Shu.
"It was just a small gesture; no need to make such a big deal out of it," Luo Shu replied with a light smile, shaking her head.
"That’s no excuse. I, Shuimu Yan, don’t like owing favors. Since you helped me, I must repay you," Shuimu Yan fixed his eyes on Luo Shu, his captivating gaze revealing a trace of determination.
"But I don’t need anything right now, so there’s no need for you to repay me," Luo Shu said with a smile.
Shuimu Yan furrowed his brows, "Then I’ll owe you for now. Let me know whenever you figure out what you want. Let’s be friends—I’m Shuimu Yan. What are your names?"
"I’m Luo Yu, a pharmacist, and this is my friend, Lu Mo," Luo Shu introduced the two of them.
"Nice to meet you both," Shuimu Yan smiled, "Do you have plans for now? If not, you should stay here for a while."
"Lu Mo and I are heading to Holy Light City to see the Holy Tree," Luo Shu said.
"The Light Domain of Holy Light City won’t open for a while. I need to head there as well. Why don’t you stay here for now? When I recover, we’ll go together," Shuimu Yan proposed.
"Well..." Luo Shu hesitated.
"No need to overthink—it’s decided!" Shuimu Yan concluded.
Luo Shu glanced at Lu Hanmo, "Should we stay for a while?"
After a moment of contemplation, Lu Hanmo nodded, "Alright then."
Seeing Lu Hanmo agree, Shuimu Yan’s mood lifted. "I’ll have rooms arranged for you right away."
"Much appreciated!" Luo Shu responded courteously.
Shuimu Yan shook his head with a smile, "This medicine powder of yours is really effective. My wound doesn’t hurt much anymore. Did you make it yourself?" He’d been injured before, but no pharmacist’s medicine powder had ever worked as well.
Luo Shu smiled and nodded, "I found a type of insect that’s particularly effective at treating wounds and turned it into medicine. I didn’t expect it to work this well either."
