Chapter 1004: One thousand and two, Shuize Country

"Mm!" Lu Hanmo nodded.

"This mission is very dangerous. You mustn’t go. Our sect has sent disciples there before, but none ever returned," Fang Qing said, hoping they would change their minds.

"We’ve already decided," Lu Hanmo responded. Like Shushu, once he made up his mind, he wouldn’t change it.

"But that place is basically a point of no return! Going there is as good as throwing your lives away, don’t you understand?" Fang Qing tried persuading them anxiously. She truly didn’t want them to get into trouble.

"Senior Sister Fang, you don’t need to persuade us further. I won’t change my mind," Luo Shu stepped forward and said firmly.

Fang Qing looked at the two of them, frustrated and helpless, "Can’t you be a little less stubborn? That place is extremely dangerous. Once there, you’ll become powerless mortals, unable to even defend yourselves."

"We know, Senior Sister Fang. Don’t worry, we’ll complete the mission as quickly as possible and return safely," Luo Shu said, feeling a faint touch of gratitude seeing Fang Qing so concerned about them.

Fang Qing took several deep breaths to suppress her anger, "Why are you so headstrong? Why can’t you listen to my advice for once!"

"Thank you, Senior Sister Fang!" Luo Shu sincerely expressed her gratitude.

After calming her emotions, Fang Qing glared at Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo, "Fine, fine, I won’t waste my breath on you two stubborn mules anymore. Just be safe and come back in one piece, alright? I can tell now, even if I talk myself hoarse, you two aren’t going to budge."

She took out a storage bag and handed it to Luo Shu, "Take this. You might need it when you get there."

Luo Shu scanned it with her Divine Sense, finding gold coins inside.

"The common currency in that place is gold coins," Fang Qing explained. In the Immortal Realm, aside from that area, there were other mortal cities too, and they used gold coins.

"Thank you, Senior Sister Fang!" Luo Shu smiled gratefully, storing the bag away. She then took out two bottles of elixirs and handed them to Fang Qing, "These are a Level Eight Healing Pill and the Immortal Beauty Pill; you might have use for them."

Fang Qing frowned at the sight of the elixirs, "What are you doing? Such precious pills—how could I possibly accept them?"

"I made them myself. Just take them, Senior Sister Fang," Luo Shu insisted, pressing the bottles into Fang Qing’s hands.

"You made them yourself? You’re a Level Eight Immortal Alchemist?" Fang Qing widened her eyes in shock, staring at Luo Shu in disbelief. She had heard rumors that Luo Shu might be an Immortal Alchemist but hadn’t expected it to be true.

"Mm!" Luo Shu nodded slightly. Lin Jue already knew she was an alchemist, so there was no need to hide it further.

Fang Qing rolled her eyes in exasperation, "Fine, then I won’t hold back. So, when are you setting off?"

"Tomorrow morning. Since we’ve decided, the sooner the better," Luo Shu replied.

"I’ll come see you off tomorrow. Make sure you return as soon as possible," Fang Qing said.

"Senior Sister Fang, there’s no need to see us off. We’ll be leaving very early," Luo Shu said. She didn’t like the feeling of saying goodbye.

"Alright. Let me give you my communication talisman imprint," Fang Qing took out her talisman. She knew the talismans might not work in that place, but having some means of contact was better than none.

Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo also took out their communication talismans and exchanged imprints with Fang Qing.

At dawn, Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo left Liangyi Sect, ascending their flying ship toward their destination. They didn’t know what awaited them ahead, but since the decision was made, they would have no regrets.

The flying ship sped through the sky. Even at its fastest speed, Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo spent three full months aboard before reaching their destination.

As they gently landed the ship, Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo stepped out and stored it away. Ahead lay the territory known as "Shuize Country." Once inside, there would be no more Immortal Spirit Energy.

However, Luo Shu wasn’t concerned about this issue. Her Plum Blossom Space would remain usable even without Immortal Spirit Energy. This was one of the reasons she was determined to come here; if they truly encountered problems beyond their abilities to resolve, she and Lu Hanmo could retreat into the space.

After altering their appearances, Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo each carried a bundle on their backs and headed toward Shuize Country.

Upon entering Shuize Country’s territory, their cultivation was instantly bound by a mysterious and special force.

Both felt their bodies grow heavier, their steps no longer light and agile as before.

After traveling for two days and nights, the pair finally saw a city before them. The city’s towering walls were constructed entirely from black stones, emitting the same mysterious force.

At the city gates, a guard blocked their path.

"Who are you?" The guard scrutinized Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo.

"Officer, we’re from Huoxi Country, here to meet our friend," Lu Hanmo replied, disguised as a weathered middle-aged man. The Jade Slip had indicated that both Huoxi Country and Shuize Country lacked Immortal Spirit Energy and maintained mutual exchanges.

"Two gold coins," the guard extended his hand.

"Old woman, hand the money to the officer," Lu Hanmo turned to Luo Shu, his face filled with feigned reluctance.

"Sigh!" Luo Shu, dressed as a middle-aged woman, sighed dramatically, rummaging through her pocket for a long time before producing a handkerchief. Slowly unfolding it revealed only three gold coins.

She glanced at the guard, then at the coins in her hand, her face full of hesitation. After a long pause, she finally seemed to make up her mind, handing over two coins to the guard.

The guard took the coins and sneered, "Go in."

"Thank you, officer!" Lu Hanmo expressed gratitude, pulling the reluctant Luo Shu—still staring longingly at the coins in the guard’s hand—into the city.

"Cheapskates!" The guard weighed the coins in his hand disdainfully before pocketing them.

Once inside the city, Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo saw that, apart from all buildings being constructed from black bricks, the place wasn’t much different from other cities.

After surveying their surroundings, they entered a tea house. Inns, restaurants, and tea houses were always the best places to gather information. With more people, there was naturally more news.

The tea house attendant glanced at their attire and made no move to greet them. He had seen plenty of such people; even if they came to the tea house, they’d only order a pot of tea and a couple of buns, unable to afford anything more.

"Waiter, bring us a pot of tea," Luo Shu said to the attendant.

The attendant sneered, fetching a pot of tea and slamming it onto their table, "Your tea." He only hoped they would drink quickly and leave.
