Chapter 1003 - 1001, Special Grade Mission
Chapter 1003: 1001, Special Grade Mission
As their feet stepped down, a powerful force surged once again, more than twice as strong as the force from the previous level of the staircase.
The two of them released their Divine Senses to resist the force, but it was too overwhelming. Their Divine Senses, along with their bodies, were pushed outward.
At the moment they were about to hit the ground, Lu Hanmo quickly reached out to wrap his arm around Luo Shu’s waist, using his body as a cushion.
"Bang!" Lu Hanmo landed heavily on the ground. The impact between his back and the floor made him let out a muffled grunt of pain.
"Hanmo." Luo Shu hurriedly climbed off of Lu Hanmo, looking at him with concern.
"I’m fine." Lu Hanmo smiled and shook his head, sitting up from the ground. That solid blow was undoubtedly painful, but given his current level of cultivation, it naturally wouldn’t cause any real harm.
Luo Shu also remembered that they were cultivators, smiled, and shot a sidelong glance at Lu Hanmo before standing up again to look at the staircase behind them. "Oh? The staircase has disappeared."
"It seems we can only stop here for now." Lu Hanmo sat cross-legged and briefly sensed the surrounding Immortal Spirit Energy. "The Immortal Spirit Energy here is quite dense. Let’s cultivate for a while before heading back down."
Luo Shu sat down beside Lu Hanmo. "Since we’ve reached this level, we should be able to cultivate with the Yin Yang Stone for three or four months."
"Mm!" Lu Hanmo nodded his head lightly, his gaze fixed on the spot where the staircase had originally been. Next time, they would definitely climb to the top of the tower.
"After we finish cultivating with the Yin Yang Stone and return, we have to see the top of the tower no matter what." Luo Shu stared at the vanished staircase, her eyes full of determination. She absolutely couldn’t accept defeat!
In the plaza beside the Cultivation Tower, disciples had gathered, raising their heads to watch the tower. The sixty-eighth floor of the Cultivation Tower was currently flickering with red dots. This phenomenon only occurred when someone was cultivating inside.
"Who went up there? They must be incredible to get to the sixty-eighth floor."
"It’s Junior Brother Lu and Junior Sister Luo. We just saw them ascend earlier."
"No wonder. Only they could reach that high." Upon hearing that the ones ascending were Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo, the disciples didn’t find it surprising. Yesterday, Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo had already displayed their astounding abilities.
Since it wasn’t surprising, the disciples quickly dispersed in all directions.
More disciples entered the Cultivation Tower to cultivate themselves, wanting to challenge their limits and see if they could surpass their previous records.
When the disciples reported that Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo had reached the sixty-eighth floor, Lin Jue and Elder Mu exchanged a smile.
"Perhaps we could have Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo attempt that mission," Elder Mu suggested.
Lin Jue frowned slightly. "Let me think about it." Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo were indeed the most suitable candidates, but having two such exceptional disciples wasn’t easy to come by. Did he really want to send them on such a risky endeavor?
"No one else could complete it. Success requires steadiness, calmness, and the heart of a true powerhouse," Elder Mu said. He understood Lin Jue’s concerns, but accomplishing that mission would also greatly benefit Lu Hanmo and Luo Shu.
After deliberating for a moment, Lin Jue said, "I’ll ask for their opinions before deciding." The mission carried absolute danger but, if accomplished, would yield tremendous rewards.
As soon as Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo stepped out of the Cultivation Tower, a disciple informed them that the sect leader wished to see them.
Upon arriving at the main peak, they were immediately led to the reception hall.
After waiting for a short while, the sound of footsteps echoed from outside.
Seeing Lin Jue enter the reception hall, Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo stood up. "Sect Leader!"
"Please, take a seat!" Lin Jue smiled at them before walking to the main seat and sitting down.
Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo followed suit, watching Lin Jue, waiting for him to speak. Since he had called them here, he surely had something important to say.
"I called you here today to discuss something and ask for your opinions," Lin Jue began.
"Please go ahead, Sect Leader," Lu Hanmo replied.
"I have a Special Grade Mission here. If you’re interested, you can give it a try." As he spoke, he took out a Jade Slip and handed it to Lu Hanmo.
Lu Hanmo accepted the Jade Slip and used his Divine Sense to scan it before handing it to Luo Shu.
Luo Shu took the Jade Slip and examined it with her Divine Sense. The Jade Slip described a certain location in the Earth Realm devoid of Immortal Spirit Energy. A mysterious force was present there, rendering anyone who entered unable to use Immortal Spiritual Power, essentially turning them into ordinary mortals.
The mission was to locate and retrieve a Star Origin Fruit from that place. The Star Origin Fruit was an Enlightenment Fruit, capable of elevating one’s State of Mind and making future cultivation smoother, without bottlenecks. However, up to now, none of the disciples sent by various sects had ever returned.
"This mission is extremely dangerous. Whether or not to accept it is entirely up to you." Lin Jue’s expression was grave as he regarded the pair. He himself was full of inner conflict.
Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo exchanged a glance and then nodded in unison. "We’ll go." They knew the danger was immense, but they were different from the others in the Immortal Realm; they originated from the Mortal Realm. Moreover, to become stronger, they couldn’t be overly cautious and hesitant. Most importantly, the Star Origin Fruit would benefit not only them but also their babies significantly.
"Since you’ve decided to go, I want to give you just one piece of advice: you must return safely!" This was a difficult decision for him as well.
"We definitely will," Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo replied firmly.
"Let’s go outside. I’ll give you a flying ship," Lin Jue said, standing. From here to that location was a long journey; without a flying ship, walking would take years—possibly even a decade or longer.
Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo stood up and followed Lin Jue outside.
Lin Jue summoned a flying ship with a wave of his hand. "I haven’t yet refined this ship. Once you refine it, you’ll be able to use it."
"Thank you, Sect Leader!" Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo expressed their gratitude.
"No need for thanks. Just come back safely." Lin Jue looked at Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo, his eyes full of conflicting emotions.
After refining the flying ship, Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo bade Lin Jue goodbye and returned to their residence. Since they had decided on their course, they didn’t want to waste time; they planned to set off early the next morning.
"Knock knock knock!" A series of urgent knocks sounded at the door.
Lu Hanmo stepped forward to open the door, revealing Fang Qing standing outside.
"Junior Brother Lu, have you decided to accept that mission?" Fang Qing asked anxiously. As soon as she heard about this, she had rushed over, intending to dissuade them from undertaking the mission.
