Chapter 1002: One thousand, Cultivation Tower
"Daddy, how about raising some Immortal Spirit Beasts here? Then my sister and I can ride them everywhere," the little brother suggested. The places they could play at were far too limited now.
Lu Hanmo reached out and ruffled the little brother’s hair. "Daddy will catch some Immortal Spirit Beasts for you in a few days," he said with a smile. They had been confined in this space for too long and must be quite bored.
Luo Shu kissed the little sister’s forehead guiltily. "Once Mom finishes refining the Level Eight Immortal Breath Talisman, she’ll take you both out to play," she promised. It would take a long time to convert all the spiritual power in their bodies into Immortal Spiritual Power. But once they had the talisman, they could simulate Immortal Spiritual Power and wouldn’t be exposed as outsiders from the Immortal Realm.
"I believe Mom will succeed very soon!" The little sister leaned forward and kissed Luo Shu on the cheek. "Mom, keep it up!"
"Alright!" Luo Shu smiled and kissed her little daughter back. "How about Mom and Dad take you for a flight around here on our Flying Swords?" The space was too small to fly freely; a few steps and the boundaries were reached. But here, they could soar through vast skies.
"Yay!" Both the little brother and sister cheered joyfully.
The golden rays of the morning sun spilled into the room, wrapping their bodies in warmth.
Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo freshened up briefly and stepped out of the house.
"Good morning, Junior Brother Lu, Junior Sister Luo!" Fang Qing greeted them cheerfully as they emerged.
"Good morning, Senior Sister Fang!" Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo responded warmly.
"Let me show you around the sect," Fang Qing offered. She had been waiting there for them.
"Thank you for the trouble, Senior Sister Fang!" Luo Shu smiled. Although this was also Liangyi Sect, it was vastly different from the one in the Sea Realm.
"Let’s start with the Mission Hall," Fang Qing suggested, taking the lead. "The Mission Hall is where the sect posts its tasks. Once you complete a task, you earn points, which can be exchanged for cultivation time with the Yin Yang Stone. Does your Liangyi Sect in the Sea Realm have Yin Yang Stones too?"
Luo Shu nodded. "The Liangyi Sect in the Sea Realm is the same," she replied. She had heard about exchanging missions for points but had never been to the Mission Hall in the Sea Realm.
"Our Mission Hall offers a wide variety of tasks, including sect missions and even assignments from Star City," Fang Qing explained.
"Star City missions... Does the sect really accept them?" Luo Shu asked, surprised.
"Yes, in the Earth Realm, all sects operate that way," Fang Qing confirmed with a nod.
The Mission Hall wasn’t far, and the three of them reached it within ten minutes.
Inside, the hall was bustling with disciples, most of them Outer Sect Disciples. These disciples typically relied on tasks from the hall to earn cultivation resources.
"Tasks here are divided into four rankings. Third-Rank tasks are generally easy and not dangerous, but the rewards are small. Second-Rank tasks are slightly harder but still manageable. First-Rank tasks are quite challenging and usually require team efforts to complete. The rewards and points for these are significant. Then there are Special Grade tasks, which few dare to take on. They’re incredibly difficult and could cost you your life," Fang Qing explained, pointing at the Formation Display Screen.
Luo Shu glanced at the tasks displayed on the screen and found that most involved searching for Immortal Spirit Grass and gathering materials. "Senior Sister Fang, can we visit the Cultivation Tower?" she asked. Compared to the missions, she was more intrigued by the tower.
"Sure!" Fang Qing agreed readily. "I’ve reached the forty-second floor myself, but I think both of you could go much higher—at least past the fiftieth floor. So far, the highest anyone has reached is fifty-six floors, and no one has broken through that limit yet."
They arrived at the Cultivation Tower, and Fang Qing guided Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo inside.
"Each stairway here exerts a pushing force. The higher you go, the greater the resistance becomes," Fang Qing explained.
Luo Shu nodded. "Alright, let’s go up," she said. She had faced similar challenges before.
The three began climbing the stairs, passing by many disciples training within the tower.
The first forty floors posed no challenge, but as they reached the forty-third floor, Fang Qing’s expression turned grim, and every step became increasingly arduous.
By the time she struggled up to the forty-fourth floor, Fang Qing was utterly exhausted and gasping for breath. "Go on... I can’t make it any further," she admitted, satisfied with her progress nonetheless.
"Alright," Luo Shu agreed, continuing upward with Lu Hanmo. The stairway posed no challenge to them. Compared to the resistance of the Yin Yang Stone, the pressure here was relatively weak. They wondered, though, how the higher levels would compare.
As they ascended past the fiftieth floor, they encountered fewer and fewer disciples until none remained.
Lin Jue stood on the Observation Deck overlooking the Martial Arts Arena, observing the training disciples below—a habit he indulged in when not cultivating.
Footsteps approached from behind. "Sect Master!"
Lin Jue nodded slightly and pointed to a disciple below. "His strength is growing rapidly."
"That’s Yuan Hao. He just returned from completing a mission outside," Elder Mu replied. He visited the arena daily and kept close tabs on the disciples.
"Cultivate him well. He has great potential to stand independently in the future," Lin Jue remarked. His judgment was always precise.
"Understood!" Elder Mu responded.
"What are Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo up to now?" Lin Jue inquired with a chuckle.
"They’ve gone to the Cultivation Tower," Elder Mu replied.
Lin Jue laughed. "Those two never stop. I wonder if they’ll surprise me again this time."
At that moment, Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo had reached the sixty-eighth floor of the tower. Having practiced the Divine Sense Technique, the stairway’s resistance posed little challenge to them.
"Just four more floors to go. Let’s keep pushing," Luo Shu said determinedly, holding Lu Hanmo’s hand as they climbed toward the sixty-ninth floor. Reaching the top of the tower would grant them half a year of cultivation time with the Yin Yang Stone, and their curiosity about the peak drove them onward.
As soon as they stepped onto the sixty-ninth floor’s staircase, an immense pressure, dozens of times stronger than before, crashed down on them, nearly knocking them back. For the first time, they truly understood the might of the stairway’s resistance.
Stabilizing themselves, they clasped each other’s hands tightly and resolutely took the next step forward.
