Sleeping With The CEO -
Chapter 48: The Scream
Chapter 48: The Scream
The first time that Emily woke up, she did so only briefly.
She came awake slowly, and it was not a voluntary choice, instead, she was pulled from a very good dream, something with heat and smoke...a bonfire maybe? Or perhaps it was a warm fireplace in the dead of winter. Either way, no matter what her dream had been about, Emily was forcibly dragged from it by a light in her eyes.
At first she tried to avoid the light, but it just would not go away. If anything it got stronger with each passing moment, going from just being a nuisance, to an actual pain when her face started to heat up. Why was there so much light when it was supposed to be dark anyways? Her sleep drunk brain struggled to figure it out and Emily just gave up. She threw a hand over her face, and there was instant darkness...much better. Still stuck in the realm between sleep and waking, it was a simple thing to cross back over into the land of dreams. Sleep welcoming her back eagerly after years of shunning her.
And Emily, like a person starved and thirsty after spending days lost in the desert, lapped it up. She went back to sleep without a care in the world, for once letting the rest of the world worry about itself. Letting herself enjoy the pleasure that came with being able to sleep right through without any interruptions. The sleep was so good that in the brief time that she had been aware, she had not even noticed the arm around her waist. And she had simply dismissed the breaths against the back of her neck, her mind filing them away as just very warm air.
What felt like the blink of an eye, but was actually closer to an hour after she had first woken up, Emily was up again. And this time, she did not wake up because the sun was in her eyes. No, this time what woke Emily up was something that could not be dealt with by simply throwing an arm over her face.
This time what woke her up was her own body, her bladder making its need to be emptied known. Emily hung on for as long as she could, but her bladder was not giving up, and Emily had to make a choice. Either she stayed in bed and let her need to pee chase away all of her sleep, or she could get up, go to the bathroom and hope that by the time she was done and returned to bed, she would still be sleepy enough to pass right out when she came back.
Option two won by a landslide.
Getting up, Emily, eyes half open made her way to the bathroom. She did her business with her eyes still half open, and once she was done she washed her hands and returned to bed.
She had never felt so wonderful when she first woke up. She was going to do everything in her power to hang on to the feeling. When the alarm finally went off, she wanted to be as well rested as possible.
Lifting up the covers, Emily slipped back into bed, and got comfortable. She was almost all the way back to sleep when something shifted behind her. Something very much alive, and much bigger than her.
What?!
But before she could even begin to process that there was an arm around her waist. It had settled there like it belonged, like it had always been there and she was the one who had forgotten that its home was around her waist. But the strange arm did not just settle for laying there, it took action, and that action meant that she was pulled back against a wall of what she could only describe as solid muscle.
Wide eyed, Emily lifted the covers and looked down at herself. Sure enough she was not imagining things. There was a human arm around her waist. A very tan, very muscular arm that looked very capable of crushing her poor pelvic bones if the owner wanted to. Lowering the covers back down, Emily stared straight ahead, looking but not really seeing. Beads of sweat, made their way down her back, others flowing down the side of her head.
There was a strange man behind her. She was in bed with a strange man and she could not for the life of her remember how she had come to be in that situation.
Emily breathed, and the person behind her breathed too. Her breathing rate picked up, but the person behind her continued to breathe slow and easy. Her heart rate went from human level to giving a rabbit’s heartbeat a run for its money. The bump, bump of it coming so fast that Emily was actually worried that it might jump right out of her chest. But the heartbeat that she could feel against her back remained steady, the stranger behind her showing not even a single sign of panic. They simply carried on with their business of snuggling up to unsuspecting women named Emily. And that was exactly what it was, she was being cuddled, held in a way similar to how children held their favourite toys in their sleep. There was no actual threat coming from her sleeping companion, in fact the man’s warm presence was rather comforting, but Emily was definitely panicking. Despite being warm and comforting, she still did not know who the person in the bed with her was. She was in a room she did not recognize and there was an arm over her waist, that was more than enough reason to panic. And so, taking all of that into account, Emily did the only thing she could think to do in that moment...she screamed.
And not only did she scream, she screamed as loud as she could. As a child, she had been told that she had a scream loud enough to wake the dead, and she was now putting that to the test.
