Sleeping With The CEO
Chapter 168: Walk Of Shame

Chapter 168: Walk Of Shame

Five minutes before her alarm was supposed to go off, Emily woke up.

She would have loved to say that she was awakened by something like the sun in her eyes, or by breath against her cheek. But that would have been a lie. What woke her up, was the call of nature. She needed to pee, and she needed to pee fast. Her bladder felt ready to burst. And so, rather than laying in bed and enjoying the miracle that was being able to sleep without a single nightmare nipping at her heels. Emily had to go and relieve herself. Not only did she have to go, she had to go as soon as possible. Normally, it was an easy thing to pee. She just got out of bed, headed to the bathroom, and then relieved herself. But that morning things were different. For one, Emily was not alone in bed, and the fact that she was sharing with someone was making all of the difference. For it seemed that Derek Haven. CEO, her always aloof boss, was a sleep cuddler.

And not just any sleep cuddler, but a clingy one too. He was holding Emily so tight that she felt as though if he applied a bit more pressure, then she would burst.

It was not a good feeling at all. But somehow she really wanted to just stay there and not go anywhere. It was a pity that she could not.

She needed to find a way out of Derek’s clutches, and then make a mad dash to the bathroom. But that was easier said than done. After managing to free her arm, Emily reached over and grabbed her phone. She dismissed the alarm, before it could ring. Then she went back to her efforts of trying to get free.

After a bit of wriggling around, she managed to free her other arm. And then, with an undignified backward scoot, she was able to free herself from Derek’s hold completely. And once she was away from him, Emily sat up and looked over. Oh, she found herself frozen at the sight that greeted her. Derek Haven was a handsome man. That was a well-known fact. But there was something about seeing him asleep, that really brought that point home.

He looked, for lack of a better word, peaceful. And not just peaceful, but remarkably young too. His features were less severe.

The tight expression that always seemed to be on his face at work was completely gone.

He looked super hot. Not just the refular hot, but the type of good looking that was only found in the movies. Even with the beard. And somehow, Derek had manahed to work it so that, even in sleep. He not only looked handsome, but unbelievably huggable as well. Emily wanted nothing more than to lay back down and burrow closer to him. To let herself sink into slumber again. But nature called. Her bladder was pressing insistently against her. And Emily, even though she wanted to go back to sleep, she forced herself to resist. She knew that it would not be wise.

She would not be one of those people who made a memorable experience in another person’s home, by peeing on their bed. She had not peed on herself since she was a kid, and she was not about to start. Emily forced herself out of the bed. Then she made her way across the bedroom and into the bathroom. The room was still as massive as it had been the night before, but Emily barely paid any attention to that.

She just focused on handling her business, and then once that was done, she splashed some water on her face to wake herself up some more.

When she made it back to the bedroom, Derek was still fast asleep. His hands outstretched towards the side of the bed where Emily had slept, unconsciously searching for her, even in slumber. It would have been so easy to just slip under the covers again and join him. But it was not to be. The two of them could never be discovered. And part of keeping up that facade fell on Emily. So instead of going back to sleep like she wanted, she quietly gathered her things, and made her way out of the penthouse.

She left quietly. No note, no message, no nothing. All traces of her presence there, disappearing with her the moment that she walked out the door. It was only once Emily was walking the streets that something occurred to her. Did it count as a walk of shame, if all that they had done was sleep? She shrugged. Either way, whether it was a walk of shame or not, she did not care. She now had solid evidence that Derek Haven, for whatever reason, was the cure to her sleeping problems. And seeing how when she had left him, he had still been fast asleep. Emily also knew that she too was responsible for curing Derek’s own sleeping problems.

After years of suffering, the two of them had somehow stumbled upon a solution. Unable to help herself, Emily smiled brightly as she walked, the smile widening each time somebody made eye contact and hastily looked away. ’I went to sleep last night and I did not have a single nightmare,’ She wanted to shout.

But she kept that to herself, settling for just unnerving some people with a too wide smile.

Being that the city never really slept, it was not hard for her to get a ride back to her apartment. And when she got there, Emily got ready for work with a bounce in her step. In a few hours, she would be seeing Derek again. And she was excited to see how getting a good night’s rest would affect his mood. Judging by the way that she was whistling to herself. Emily was pretty sure that he too would be having trouble controlling his inner joy.

They had done it.

Sleep at last. Sleep at last.
