Chapter 678: Chapter 676: WYATT, THE BUSINESSMAN 2
Wyatt felt very proud at this moment as he watched the changes on Diamond’s face.
This was the kind of expression and reaction he was looking forward to when he thought of revealing this secret of his to her.
There was no ounce of jealousy anywhere on her face. The shock was real, but the smile in those eyes was enough to make his blood boil.
Diamond reached her hand towards Wyatt and slapped it gently through to the receiver. It kind of stung but he was a man, so he could only sheepishly grin.
"You are really .... You are very good, Wyatt. I love this place," Diamond sincerely praised as her eyes sparkled while retracting her hand.
"You know .... When I arrived earlier, I was wondering to myself who this genius was to make such a place. It’s a place where I can relax and find myself spending hours. It’s a great place, honestly."
For Diamond, whose popularity was starting to make things difficult for her as she couldn’t go to a place without being recognized. This kind of café was a good place for her.
She could have some peace and quiet. That was if there weren’t any fans of hers nearby as well.
Anyway, despite the personal issues, she loved the place. She didn’t hesitate to praise and let her feelings known.
Wyatt was happy to hear such sincere thoughts and praise.
"I am glad that you like it. This is one of the establishments I own in Frin City. It’s like a haven I come to whenever I am feeling low. At least here, I don’t need to worry about being looked at and judged." Wyatt let out a sigh as he said that.
Diamond, who was listening, found herself smiling one moment and the next feeling sad.
She couldn’t help but recall that Wyatt was an illegitimate child. So, his status in the family was a bit awkward. But seriously, was that his fault?
Instead of blaming the parents, they always put pressure on the innocent. She really hated how these people acted.
Diamond, understanding herself, hesitated to respond. Sometimes when poked, she tends to talk too much.
Wyatt, on the other side, didn’t wait for her to respond but continued to speak, "I grew up with my mother and all I wished for back then was to have a full family. I didn’t think that my mother was seeing a married man. Although I saw my father now and then, I know that he existed, but it was never enough for me."
Every child longs to have a full-functioning family. As a child, he got tired of seeing his father once a month and, at times, a few times a year. It didn’t look like what normal families were like.
He used to compare his family and his friends. It started making sense when he was eight years old. Around that age, his mother started telling him to suppress his talents. He didn’t understand why, but then one day his father came to pick him up and brought him to a big house.
That was his father’s house with another woman. His mother had abandoned him and left all the rights to his father.
Growing up in such a family and understanding the fact that his mother somehow interfered in someone else’s marriage and he was born, he didn’t feel good.
Everyone was hostile towards him at the house. To live well without attracting too much attention, he remembered his mother’s last advice. From there on, he became low-key.
He never surpassed his father’s legitimate children in anything. In fact, he became a slacker.
Since everything he would do was going to be criticized, he might as well become a salted fish.
At least when he was deemed useless, the target on his back would decrease. Surely, everyone underestimated him and no longer posed as a threat.
However, that laziness changed when he was sent abroad for his studies and ended up meeting Nolan.
His ambitions and take on life were so seductive to him that he got enthralled. Before he knew it, he knew that he wanted to be with Nolan. With him by his side, he could have someone to guide him on the right path.
Of course, that was how it was in the first place, but the more he knew Nolan, the more he fell for him seriously.
He didn’t want to be someone who would drag Nolan down. He wanted to support him and become part of his everyday life.
That’s how he brought his intelligence back online and started dabbling in investments. When he earned a large sum of money, he used it to invest in Nolan’s business. That way, they would always be involved even after they were done with their studies.
Until now, he was grateful for his decision back then. Without the businesses sticking them together, who would have known what would happen after their studies were over?
However, all that couldn’t be known by his family, i.e., his stepmother and half-siblings. That would make him a huge threat. If they couldn’t touch him, they would go after the people he cared for.
For example, his irresponsible mother married twice after leaving him to his father. That woman was lacking love, and she was busy chasing after that. How could he blame her?
Nolan, his good friend and the man he vowed to spend the rest of his life with, though he was carrying a torch for someone else. He didn’t want him to be targeted by his family.
To protect the people he loved, he took on a career that his family looked down upon, but he loved it.
Traveling all over the world and showing that to the people who support him was a thrilling thing.
While others saw him as wasting time and having nothing to do, only he knew what he would be doing in those countries. One day, he was going to reveal himself to his family.
"Hehe, I am not interested in the family business, you know. It’s frustrating, and yet these people would always be looking at me with eagle eyes. Do they think that I want to be locked in such a prison?"
