Chapter 65: SPECIAL Chapter 1

"Wow!" she exclaimed excitedly, as she looked at the majestic buildings that couldn’t be found in her hometown, but only in big cities.

Being born and raised in a small town named Taco, Diamond had always dreamt of a brighter future. A future where she would move into a big city, have a nice job, earn lots of money, and provide her family with a good life.

If she couldn’t get a good job that would make her earn a lot of money, she was going to find alternatives.

She had seen how other women relied on men to get what they wanted and she didn’t find that very shameful.

After all, a girl needs to do what she has to do to survive in a cruel world.

Since others were doing it and succeeding, why would she fail when she was at least average in appearance?

Being eighteen years old, Diamond already had her future planned out for her. Although her family wasn’t aware of the whole picture.

How she was spoiled when growing up. Even her little sister, who was a genius, something that she wouldn’t be able to compare with even if she grew several heads, wasn’t as pampered as her.

She was born into a family of two. With her being the eldest and her little sister Ruby, the youngest. Diamond was never good with her studies; however, her parents did their part to make sure that she learned everything from tutors to extra lessons.

After working so hard, she was barely able to pass her high school final exams and managed to get a place at one of the universities in one of the major cities of Athary, called Srad.

On that day, she was entering the city for the first time for the interviews for the admissions were done online. Since school was about to start, she and her mother had come to the city together.

As it was her first time, her mother was worried so much about her getting lost that she just couldn’t leave her side.

Diamond was jubilant as she kept on admiring the tall buildings. She wished one day to enter inside one and see what was really going on there.

She had a curious mind and one that craved to know and learn more.

"Do you still remember everything that I told you earlier?" as Diamond enjoyed the view, her mother, who was seated with her in the taxi, asked her.

Diamond turned from the window to face her mother with a smile on her face and answered. "Yes, don’t worry, Mom. I might be ignorant of other things, but this one, I committed to memory," giggling as she recalled what her mother had warned her about.

Belinda Diamond’s mother heaved a sigh of relief upon hearing that. Her daughter was indeed different, but she was someone who didn’t lie when it came to something important.

As a mother who knew her daughter’s strengths and weaknesses very well, she was very proud that her daughter was enrolled at a university in a big city. But at the same time, she was worried that the baby she had spoiled so much wouldn’t be living with them anymore.

How was she going to survive now, that there wasn’t anyone to do chores for her? What if she was bullied?

Although they had spoiled Diamond, she was too innocent to fight any bullies and that got everyone worried.

However, when she thought of how Diamond needed to grow, and how she and her husband wouldn’t be able to protect her forever. She steeled her heart.

The two of them finally reached the school, Hillside University, where Diamond would be studying for the next four years.

Despite the university being not part of the top three universities in Srad, it was still one of the best when compared to other universities.

Since Diamond didn’t know anyone in Srad, Belinda had encouraged her daughter to apply for a dorm stay. That would allow her to make some friends and also be in a safe place that would make the whole family feel at ease.

Besides, the dorms were much cheaper compared to renting a room outside. And since their family wasn’t rich, it was better to save while they invested more in education that could change a person’s life.

When they arrived, it wasn’t just them alone. Several parents came with their children as well.

And that was especially so for the freshmen who were still not used to the school grounds.

Following the rest, Diamond and Belinda managed to register in time. Soon after, they were given the keys to the dorm where Diamond would be living for that semester.

Diamond was very excited as the feeling of staying with three more people who weren’t her young sister thrilled her so much.

And she was looking forward to making new friends and seeing the world.

However, as she walked to the living areas, she began to face reality. As every step that she took; and with every student that she met or passed by, she could see the difference between them.

’I look so poor!’ she lamented as she looked at the new clothes that her parents had painstakingly purchased for her.

Although they did their best to buy her new clothes, they were still cheaper and of lower quality than the clothes that people in cities would have.

And that was her first blow as her self-confidence was slowly plummeting and her mother walking beside her wasn’t even aware of it.

They soon reached the dormitory where Diamond would be staying and, looking at the three-story building, Diamond once again started getting emotional.

After living in a bungalow-type house for eighteen years of her life, it was going to be her first time staying in a three-storied house.

Filled with excitement, Diamond completely threw away her insecurities regarding her outlook and eagerly dragged her cheap suitcase into the building while her mother tagged behind her with the rest of the bags.

Seeing her daughter happy like that, Belinda was finally at ease.

Diamond’s happiness was of utter importance and the rest would follow.

Since she was happy and excited about everything, it meant that she would be living well in the future

And as long as she worked and studied hard, Belinda believed that her daughter’s life would be changed forever.

But little did Belinda know that Diamond’s life was going to change and in a completely different direction than she had thought of from the beginning.

As the little girl and innocent daughter, she knew and raised wasn’t exactly who she portrayed herself to be.

They were in for some drama.
