Chapter 612: Chapter 610: MEETING OF THE PARENTS 2
Diamond raised her head upon hearing footsteps approaching. When she saw who had just walked in, a smile blossomed on her face as she wiped away the tears streaming down her cheeks.
Rising on her feet, she happily called out, "Mother and father! Welcome back!"
At hearing their daughter’s enthusiastic welcome, the couple smiled at her as they responded, "Dear. How was your day?"
"It couldn’t be any better. And yours?" she asked as she approached them.
"It was all fine. Thanks for asking."
Diamond beamed at her parents as she took the bags from them before leading them to the sofas where the two sat down and Diamond sat on the carpet again.
Once everyone was seated, Diamond made the introductions.
"Mom and Dad, meet Auntie Grace. The one I told you about," Diamond smilingly introduced. "Auntie Grace, meet my parents."
She didn’t know if these people would click, but whatever happened, they might end up being in-laws. That is, if fate allows it.
The three were all adults, so they quickly got acquainted with each other in front of Diamond.
"Hello, sister. I hope that you didn’t find it difficult to come here!" Ma Perry said politely with a smile on her face as she looked at this possible in-law of hers.
Auntie Grace had never expected Diamond’s parents to look so young and be this humble. She liked them the moment she saw them. She was very enthusiastic.
"Haha, it wasn’t tough. I am sorry for coming like this!"
"Don’t stress yourself that much. It’s good to visit each other. I just hope that this daughter of mine hasn’t caused any problems," Ma Perry wryly said, as it never escaped her thoughts of the reason why Grace was here.
Grace beamed as she squinted. "How could that be? I liked your daughter on the first day I saw her. That will never stop!"
Ma Perry felt relieved hearing that. She couldn’t help but look at the other kindly.
Since Ma and Pa Perry had just arrived, it wasn’t wise for them to just remain seated there. So, they excused themselves to change clothes since dinner would be ready in a moment.
With them gone, Auntie Grace and Diamond remained.
"Your parents are good-looking. I now see where you got your beauty!" Auntie Grace praised sincerely while looking at Diamond dotingly.
Diamond, who was sitting cross-legged on the carpet, with the long shirt she was wearing exposing her thighs, making that tattoo on her leg very vivid, chuckled heartily as she squinted like a cat. She loved being praised, after all. And with her possible mother-in-law complimenting her parents, she was in a better mood.
"It’s family traits. You will be surprised when you see the others!" she couldn’t help but bring her sisters into the mix.
Ruby was beautiful, and the two of them looked more alike. And then there was Garnet she made in the Perry’s image. There was no doubt that she was their sibling. No one would know that she wasn’t a real person at all.
Auntie Grace smiled but didn’t say anything. Staying with Diamond was truly enjoyable, especially when knowing what she liked the most.
"Oh, thank you for believing, for every tear and every dream ....."
Suddenly, Diamond’s phone started ringing. She didn’t put her earbuds on, and in the presence of Auntie Grace, she couldn’t blatantly instruct Andrea to answer for her.
So, she could only rise to her feet begrudgingly and walk to where her phone was, wondering who was calling her at such a time.
When she saw the caller, a smile blossomed on her face as she picked up the call, "Hello dear!" her voice sounded very pleasing to the ears and it made Auntie Grace panic.
She didn’t know who Diamond was speaking to, but she had an inkling that it must be a guy, especially when she listened to the conversation. She couldn’t help but worry about her son.
"Oh~ tomorrow I can’t. I need to drop by the foundation. How about on the 22? I will show you the farm. You haven’t been there, right?"
Diamond listened to the other person for a while before answering. "Sure. You can come and pick me up then. I have things I need to talk to you about."
She talked for a while before hanging up.
Once the call ended, she saw a message popping on the screen.
{Mother, you received an important message from the higher-ups of the super abilities’ organization. Do you want to get back to them?}
When she saw that, her eyes narrowed, wondering what these people wanted from her. However, since this organization was what held the country from collapsing and it wouldn’t hurt to associate with them, she decided to have a chat.
However, before that, she needed to wait for her parents to come down.
As she was thinking about that, the couple appeared, making life easier for her.
"Mom and Dad, you entertain the guest. I have an important call to make!" she informed the two and, without waiting for their response, skipped away, leaving the two rooted on the spot with stunned expressions.
With Diamond gone, the two could only go and join the guests with smiles on their faces.
Auntie Grace was a chatty person, and her interactive skills were perfected. So rather than making things awkward with Diamond gone, she actually led the conversation.
"In-law, I hope that you don’t mind, but can you share a bit about Diamond? I hope that this isn’t much?"
When Ma Perry heard that, the first thing that came to mind was ’She was thick-skinned.’
Only a thick-skinned person can like Diamond in such a bizarre manner. No wonder why they clicked. Just see how she was calling her in-law easily when the children hadn’t progressed anywhere yet.
However, this kind of in-law, she liked so much.
At least she wasn’t pretentious. Anyone who loved her daughters the same she does, that person was a good sister to her.
As a mother, she wanted her daughter to be with a man she loved and who loved her back. And since she refused to dedicate herself to one man, something that they all accepted, then having in-laws who accept this kind of relationship would be of greater importance.
As a mother, all she wanted was to see her children happy and living well.
To do so and achieve such, she must do her duties as a mother. And it all starts by making sure that the in-law will definitely fall harder for her daughter.
That way, whatever happens in the future, her daughter wouldn’t suffer. Not like she would suffer, but who was certain of the future?
She could only cast a bait.
