Chapter 355: Chapter 352: A WAVERING HEART

Fortunately, she had believed what he had said. This will give him time to check what is going on before he can conclude anything bad.

With Diamond with him, Sullivan hooked his arm around hers and led her outside.

As his mind was on the text messages and the phone, which continued to vibrate, probably with more messages pouring in, he didn’t see how beautiful Diamond looked at that moment and how she was sulking at not being complimented in the process.

However, she was a good girl, and good girls at times didn’t cause trouble.

The drive to the hotel where the banquet was to be held was quite interesting, with Sullivan telling her about the kind of people that she might meet at the banquet later.

With him providing her with some information, her sulkiness completely vanished as she appreciated his effort in helping her.

When they arrived at the hotel, it was around 5 pm, just thirty minutes before the banquet starts officially.

"Dear, I won’t be able to bring you inside. I hope you understand!" Sullivan apologetically said as he looked at Diamond.

The hotel would be full of reporters waiting to find anything on such a day, especially after catching the news of the banquet. Besides, it was at hotels where all the drama happened. And as much as he loves her, he wasn’t ready yet to have a scandal. And that was more so with the messages he had been receiving.

Something in him seemed to be shaking, and that feeling was quite dangerous. He needed to confirm something first before he became rash about anything.

Diamond looked understandingly at him and nodded. "It’s fine. I can manage."

Sullivan sighed with relief upon hearing that. "I will make it up to you in the future."

"Hehe, we have all the time in the world. I will hold you accountable!" Diamond lightly chuckled as she said that.

Sullivan smiled, hearing her saying that. "we have that indeed!" sounding a bit mysterious.

The couple bid each farewell before Diamond alighted from the car, attracting the attention of many in the process.

Diamond waved at Sullivan with an affectionate smile before she started walking away.

Sullivan looked at Diamond, who looked pretty damn good now that he was looking closely at her.

Since when they took the gown, she didn’t wear it but rather used her eyes to do so. He didn’t see how she looked once it was on her.

He had been preoccupied with his thoughts before when she joined him at home and on the way; he was busy with giving her some information. As a result, he didn’t look at her closely.

However, now that she was walking away with so many people looking at her like that, his heart ached as if someone were clenching and squeezing it.

He didn’t like it when others looked at her in such a way, especially when he knew that there was nothing that he could say to stop her from getting and receiving much attention from others.

As he looked as her silhouette got further away from him, his phone started ringing, forcing him to retract his gaze from Diamond to his phone.

When he looked at the screen, ’Unknown Caller’ was shown there. Whoever was calling him had hidden his or her number.

If it were other times, he would have rejected the call, but considering that the person had contacted him earlier, as he drove his car forward, he answered the call.

"Hello, this is Sullivan speaking. How may I help you?" he politely responded, his heart thumping anxiously as the grip on the steering wheel was tight, which tightened further the second he heard the voice of the caller, striking certain chords in his heart. [Sulli, it’s been a while!]

And that second, he knew that his life was about to go crazy.

Meanwhile, on Diamond’s side, she had no clue what dilemma Sullivan was facing as at that moment; she was smiling as she nodded politely to the people who were greeting her.

A person should have courtesy. When greeted, the least one can do is return the greeting. It wasn’t like she was being asked to communicate further, after all.

Ring. Ring.

As she made her way to the part of the hotel where the banquet hall was, her phone started ringing.

"Dear, who is calling?" Diamond asked in a low voice.

{Vivian. Should I answer?}

"Um. Thank you."

{You are welcome!} Andrea said before connecting Diamond to the call.

"Hello, Vivian!" Diamond answered enthusiastically since she now knew who had called.

[Hello, Diamond. Have you arrived?]

"Um, I am on my way to the elevator. Are you there already?" she responded, telling Vivian of her location.

[That’s good then. I will wait for you near the elevator.]

"Sure. See you in a bit."

[Um,] and the call ended.

With the call finished, Diamond shortly reached the elevator. While waiting for the elevator to arrive, a group of people arrived and looking at the way they were dressed, they seemed to be going to the same place as her.

Diamond, as a courtesy after locking gaze with two of the five, nodded smilingly at them as a greeting before minding her business.

Moments later, the elevator reached the ground floor and three people exited the elevator, giving room for the seven of them to enter the elevator.

Diamond was the first to enter, and she naturally hit the fifth-floor button and the other six didn’t pick another floor, which solidified the fact that they were indeed going to the same floor as her.

"I am curious who else we will see there!"

"Knowing her, it won’t be surprising to see some unexpected people there."

"That’s why I love coming to her banquets. She knows how to shock people!"

"And it’s possible to see some flies attending, making one wonder just how enormous their luck is for them to be invited!"

"Haha, I still remember the last banquet I attended. Two ladies ended up being gold diggers who had relied on capricious means to get themselves invited!" a lady in orange snorted as her gaze involuntarily swayed towards Diamond who was on her phone checking something.

The lady in red smiled coldly, her gaze flickering for a second before responding, "We just need to watch the drama. Without drama, how can these banquets be nice?"

"That’s true!"

It wasn’t long before the elevator stopped on the fifth floor, prompting the passengers to alight.

Since Diamond was the first one to enter, the other six could only get off before her first before she could do so.

When it was her turn, she spotted Vivian standing a short distance away, surrounded by the six ladies she had unfortunately been in the same elevator with earlier.

’It’s a small world, indeed!’ she lamented as she picked up her pace.
