Chapter 348: Chapter 345: MEETING HIS FRIENDS 2
While Sullivan does so, Diamond is busy with other things. Looking at the table with snacks since dinner hadn’t been sent yet, she decided to help herself.
It’s been more than thirty minutes since she and Sullivan arrived.
At first, she was nervous, after all, she was going to meet with the people who knew Sullivan better than her. And the possibility of these people making things difficult for her, though it would be foolish to do so was high.
Every friend wished for the best for his or her friend depending on how genuine the friend was. They all carry expectations and what they want to see from the other friend. And that include the girlfriend or boyfriend, so the matter was very important.
Getting recognition and validation sometimes means a lot. Though lately, she wasn’t doing so anymore.
After getting her life destroyed because of a friend, Diamond is no longer required to get any validation from anyone. Even when she told her parents about her choice of falling in love, she didn’t negotiate with them but simply told them as it was.
Nevertheless, it didn’t hurt to get some brownie points, after all, she didn’t live in a world where she had to be alone. People surrounded her and had to co-exist with them harmoniously as much as possible.
"We got acquainted through my brother ...."
However, Diamond wasn’t expecting Sullivan to really tell it as it is, though he omitted the part where the three of them were in a relationship.
Sullivan’s confession made her feel puzzled and enter a state of confusion momentarily. That shortly vanished as the gasps of awe erupted in the room moments later.
Looking smilingly at the group of friends she had met a while ago, Diamond found them to be very friendly at least on the surface since it was difficult to truly understand a person.
"Your brother is truly wonderful!" sighing enviously, another friend, by the name Ian said as he looked at Sullivan and then Diamond.
Diamond heard that, her eyes narrowed for a moment as she felt that Ian’s words didn’t come out right and yet at the same time, they sounded just perfect. What was she implying?
Unfortunately, she was not a mind reader. However, letting the matter go without adding her two cents, wasn’t something that she was capable of doing.
"Um, he is a great guy. They both are!" her words confusing but pleasing to Sullivan’s ears.
Hearing that, the gang burst into a hearty laughter and the atmosphere became especially bright.
They continued to talk about random topics and shortly dinner started getting served.
Diamond proved to them and showed them who she was.
Linda clenched her fists beneath the table as she looked smilingly as Sullivan added this and that to Diamond’s plate where food was disappearing quickly as if some invisible ghosts were aiding her.
"You must love your food really well?" Linda said smilingly, her gaze on Diamond, and her expression harmless.
Diamond raised her eyes which were sparkling taking Linda aback as she wasn’t expecting that.
"Hehe, I love my food more than I love him!" Diamond responded as she gave Sullivan a quick glance before turning to Linda.
Linda grimaced upon hearing that, after all, she wasn’t expecting Diamond to respond that way.
"Haha, then it must be difficult for you, friend!" Linda’s tensed muscles relaxed a bit as she looked at Sullivan. However, his response made her dig her nails into her palm drawing blood.
"As long as I can monopolize a little part of her heart then I am satisfied." His soft gaze on Diamond expressed his love for her.
Ian seeing that, his gaze briefly stopped on Linda before he raised a glass of wine to his lips hiding a smirk on his face.
"At least you know where you are standing!" another friend, Chris responded with a sigh as he seemed to be lost in thoughts.
"Let’s eat before the food gets cold!" seeing that the mood was about to be spoiled by unnecessary topics, Peter urged.
With that, the six people in the room resumed their dining, with small chatter dropping now and then.
After dinner, which was more enjoyable for Diamond who ignored the suffocating pressure in the room, the table was cleared a fresh round of drinks and snacks were brought in.
"So, Diamond, what do you do for a living?" Peter asked as he swirled the glass of wine in hand.
Diamond looked up to Peter who sat relaxedly and didn’t seem to be much of a talker and smiled as she picked a fresh glass of champagne from the table.
"Me ... I dabble in a lot of things but my major business is farming. I own a farm and sell fresh produce and delicious meat!" with a smile on her face, she responded.
Not expecting such an answer, Linda gawked as she sized the other a lot as it didn’t make sense.
"I don’t do much of the fieldwork, after all, there would be no point in hiring others. Apart from that, I am into investing. Can’t get out of it. It makes a lot more compared to the farm. I guess you all understand what I am talking about!" with a light chuckle escaping her lips, she nonchalantly responded, ignoring Linda’s scorching gaze on her.
"It must be tough, for you to deal with all of this at such a young age?" Ian said as he looked at her, his gaze inquisitive.
Diamond shook her head with a smile on her face and said, "Nope. It is at such young ages like ours that we should do everything we can. As we grow older, we tend to get tired. How can we earn when we are like that?" shaking her head with a sigh at the thought of getting older.
Linda hearing such remarks, her fists clenched once again as she gritted her teeth hatefully. Was she trying to imply that she was old? She couldn’t help but conclude.
