Chapter 289 - 287: UNIVERSAL LAW FIRM 2

Chapter 289: Chapter 287: UNIVERSAL LAW FIRM 2

Meanwhile, inside the firm’s building and in the conference room, ten people, including men and women, were sitting anxiously on their seats as they waited for the new owner of the firm.

Who would have known that the previous owner who had remained faceless in the ten years the firm was opened decided to share his shares?

And to make things interesting, the new owner was someone everyone was very aware of. A very special client they received in 2078, who was very generous and well-liked.

Because Diamond wasn’t hard to please and didn’t make things difficult for the lawyers, everyone liked her a lot. Besides, she didn’t delay with her payments. Rather, she more or so paid in advance. And who didn’t love clients like that?

But who would have guessed that she turned out to be the new boss suddenly like that?

However, that was also good. After all, with how good she was to them before and her other employees, wouldn’t that transfer to them as well?

With that thought in everyone’s mind, they became more relaxed.

As they sat there chatting about this and that, a call was received from the reception and the contents were short and concise, "She is here!"

With that news relayed, those who were standing hurriedly sat in their respective chairs as they prepared themselves for the arrival of their boss.

On the other hand, Diamond, who overheard the call made by the receptionist when she passed by the reception a while ago, chuckled as she found the actions to be very cute.

She couldn’t help but recall when she was a worker for someone else as well back then. Whenever the boss arrived, the receptionist would call to warn the rest so that by the time the boss passed by, everyone would look hard working.

It was an action which had saved a lot of people from getting fired. However, seeing that, Diamond didn’t think for a second that the staff weren’t hardworking or being lazy.

If they weren’t, wouldn’t the firm have gone under already?

It wasn’t like employees weren’t allowed to relax. Relaxing at times was helpful to the mind. As long as the work gets done in time and with all the love, Diamond doesn’t care about much.

However, if they took advantage of that and became lazy, that wouldn’t sit well with her. And that would call for punishments. And she hated punishing people a lot.

She would rather be a happy fairy than an evil witch feared by people.

It didn’t take long before she arrived at the conference room. As someone who had used the room a lot of times before, she knew exactly where it was.

Besides, Daniel, the man who called her earlier, came to pick her up, so she had a mascot to send her all the way.

When they arrived, the door was opened and Diamond walked in.

As soon as she entered, the ten people inside all stood on their feet, and Diamond bowed her head slightly towards them in greeting.

Diamond took the upper chair and sat. With her sitting, everyone else followed.

"Thank you for coming on such short notice. I won’t take too much of your time. I have other appointments to attend. So, let’s get this done quickly!" she said with a smile before urging Daniel, who was holding a thick file.

Because she was here for the transfer, then the thick file must be holding the documents she was going to sign.

Daniel didn’t dilly-dally, but hurriedly placed the file in front of Diamond and politely explained what was required of her.

Diamond looked at the thick file and sighed helplessly before she started flipping right through it.

’It can’t be. She is going to read the whole thing now!’

’She is too naïve!’

’That can take hours.’

However, seeing all that happening was Nancy and Garnet. The two remained silent, curious to see how long she would take this time to finish reading everything.

So, when Diamond flipped the last page, five minutes later before stretching her neck, everyone looked dumbfounded, as it didn’t make sense at all.

Although they had an inkling that Diamond’s action meant that she was done reading, they just couldn’t accept it. Apart from flipping pages speedily, when had she even read a single thing?

Unfortunately for them, Diamond was currently cursing at the person who made it his or her duty to write so many words, adding so many clauses and paragraphs. Was it done to confuse others?

Why not write something simple that people can understand rather than being too verbose and picking complicated words?

Nevertheless, Diamond still flipped the right pages where she had to sign and left her signatures there.

She passed the same documents to both Nancy and Kiara. With Nancy being her second in command and Kiara her personal lawyer, who would be taking a crucial role at the firm once everything was settled?

As soon as the documents were signed, Diamond took her copy but passed it to Kiara to deal with while the other copy remained with the firm.

"With all this done, I called you all here to inform you of something very important!" with a smile on her face, she said as she looked at everyone in the room.

"The young lady behind me in the black suit is named Kiara Summers and from now on, she will be my personal lawyer. She will be in charge of my cases, so pass everything to her later. She is ...."

Without closing her mouth for several minutes, Diamond introduced Kiara to the management.

At the end of it, she added, "When you see her and Nancy, you are seeing me. So, give her the respect that she deserves. And also, she is knowledgeable about a lot of things. If there is something that you don’t understand, then go to her."

"And lastly, the firm will be changing its name. As much as I love the current name, I want it to present me. So, from now on, or at least until the name change passes, the firm will be called Hope Law Firm. Our job, apart from earning money, we will be there to give people hope and make them realize their dreams."

"We will discuss this more in the future once I settle some personal issues. So, for the moment, you keep on doing what you have been doing. And once I am done with my issues, we can sit down and discuss the firm’s agenda in detail."

"For those who think that they can’t work with me, the HR is open and will kindly accept your resignation letters. In the meantime, before sharing my agenda with you, I will do a sweep through the firm. If some know that, they would be found wanting and committed, whether a small or big crime, confessing to Kiara soon might save you. However, if you remain silent and I catch you myself, trust me, it won’t end well."

"So, ladies and gentlemen, think deeply about this and it goes to everyone else who isn’t here right now. I will give you one week to come and confess your crimes. If you haven’t confessed until then, then I guess we can only wait to see what will happen!"

Those were the words she said to the management before she left the firm with a gentle smile on her face, returning greetings on her way out.

And those who were part of the meeting, seeing this side of hers, shuddered as they recalled how icy she had been in the conference room.

People were indeed two-faced, but how many faces did their new boss have?

Only time will tell.
