SIGNING IN: BEING SHOWERED BY HEAVENLY BLESSINGS FOR FIVE YEARS -
Chapter 205 - 203: 2079
Chapter 205: Chapter 203: 2079
[Ding! Do you want to sign in?]
’Um. Sign in!’ Diamond instructed as she rummaged through her closet, looking for an outfit to wear for the fireworks display an hour later that night.
[Ding! You have been rewarded with A$1,000,000. The money is to be credited to your main account.]
’Oh! That’s new!’ she stopped in her tracks in surprise.
It’s been a very long time since she received any monetary reward, so it was a bit surprising.
It wasn’t that she didn’t like the reward. In fact, she loved it so much that she would be a fool to not love money for free.
{Mom! One million has been credited to your account!} As she was in the middle of thinking, Andrea informed her.
"Okay, dear."
{Should I send the money to the lucky winners now? the event just ended.} Andrea asked for permission.
"Um. Send it and make sure it’s done before the year’s end," she smilingly responded.
She didn’t want to enter 2079 with debts following her.
{I will start working on it.}
With that issue done and her daily signing reward claimed, Diamond resumed rummaging for an outfit and after a while, she finally found something appropriate.
It was a bit hot, but at the same time, the mosquitoes were singing so loudly outside that anything was capable of happening.
Diamond didn’t think that she would be bitten by them, but she didn’t want to test their patience and become a guinea pig. So, she decided to prevent any mishap from happening.
So, she picked a magenta jumpsuit from the rack and paired it with flat shoes, since she would be standing and walking for a long time.
She applied a bit of makeup, which was basically some eye shadows and lipstick, to make herself brighter.
She found a small bag, which she packed with her belongings, before leaving the bedroom. She found Kian waiting for her in the passage and the two of them happily went together downstairs.
Diamond, Kian, and Ruby were planning to go out while the adults decided to stay at home.
They didn’t want to compete with the youngsters, so the three were left to their own devices.
Ruby didn’t want to be a third wheel and a light bulb, so she set a meeting with her group of friends to enjoy the town’s firework display, which happens only once every year.
It was a popular event that every youngster loved going to, so how could they miss it?
However, as she promised her parents, Ruby would return home with Diamond and not remain by herself or her friends once everything was over.
Ruby was very determined to spend time with her friends, so she agreed.
There was no need for Ruby to pick up her friends, as the public transport would be operating throughout the night, so there wouldn’t be a shortage of any sort.
Besides, one of her friend’s family owned a car, so the girls could be brought by car if they wanted.
All they had to do was to meet at the destination and have some fun.
Diamond drove her SUV since she liked it and it felt much safer, especially at night.
On the way, the three of them talked, joked and had fun. The drive was very peaceful and no uneventful circumstances happened.
The traffic police were all over the roads, maintaining peace and order and doing their best to prevent any accidents from happening.
No one wanted to see a life being claimed, though it was always unavoidable.
The three managed to arrive before the display started, despite having parking issues. There were too many cars around, so it was difficult to find an appropriate place to park.
The moment Ruby arrived; she immediately bade the couple goodbye before rushing to meet her friends.
Diamond chuckled lightly, seeing how eager Ruby was to meet her friends.
Kian never asked about Diamond’s friends. He had this inkling that she was a lone wolf and didn’t have a lot of friends.
He didn’t want to poke the hornets’ nests by asking what he shouldn’t. besides after seeing how horrible her past friends were, he doubted if she would have any genuine friends around her.
"Let’s stroll around and find a place to watch the fireworks later!" Diamond suggested as she stretched her hand towards Kian.
The masked Kian smiled at Diamond, his eyes twinkling as he caught her hand with his.
"Um. Let’s enjoy the night!"
Diamond smiled back at Kian, though her face couldn’t be clearly seen, as she was also wearing a mask.
The couple just wanted to have a peaceful night, just the two of them. If they were to walk around without the masks, that would be deadly, and they both didn’t want it.
After locking the car, the couple walked hand in hand without caring about what those curious people always looking at them thought.
What was wrong with showing some love and enjoying yourself?
Several night stalls were opened, and they all provided a variety of snacks and some trinkets for people to buy.
As midnight was still some minutes away, Diamond urged Kian to buy her a few trinkets before rushing to a slightly less crowded place that faced the huge lake where the fireworks display would be showing.
"I am so excited!" Diamond excitedly said as she shook Kian’s arm coyly while staring ahead, waiting for the moment to arrive.
"As long as you are happy!" he dotingly said as he caressed her soft and small hand before looking ahead.
Diamond and Kian weren’t the only couples there, there were several of them standing intimately as they waited for the moment they had been waiting for, for a while now.
All of a sudden, a tall building which was Taco’s landscape and happened to be owned by the richest family in Taco started lighting up.
From the building, the countdown started and the folks already used to that happening all the time began to count alongside as well.
Diamond joined in the fun, and she was excited as a little girl.
After spending three excruciatingly lonely New Year’s, she was just so happy to be spending it with someone. And someone who cared for her sincerely.
{3 ... 2 .....1 ....0}
"Bloom!"
"Boom!"
"Happy New Year!" everyone excitedly shouted as soon as the countdown reached zero.
And the fireworks exploded in the sky, forming all sorts of wonderful creations that left everyone in awe.
"Boom!"
"Boom!"
Another one exploded again once the first one receded and a magnificent ’2079’ was projected into the night sky.
Seeing all that, Diamond leaned on Kian’s shoulder as she marveled at how nice this all was.
Although it was a pity that Sullivan wasn’t here with them, the fact that she was there with Kian was something that she sincerely enjoyed and loved.
The couple didn’t say a single thing but enjoyed the wonderful moment, as they would be separating moments soon.
While they enjoyed their moment, those who surrounded them could be heard talking, and it piqued Diamond’s curiosity, whose hearing was top-notch.
"What is your wish this year?"
"Me, hehe, I want to bring you home!"
"You, shameless!"
"Hehe, what’s so shameless about that? I will marry you grandly and prove to everyone that I am worthy."
"I just want to get a job this year. Why is it getting hard as time goes on?"
"Who knows? We only need to maintain our faith."
"Hey, are you still going for it?"
"What again?"
"You told me that in 2079, you will pursue your goddess. Are you still up for it?"
"Don’t get me started. Why should I follow that pretentious b***? I never thought that she was that bad! Thank goodness, I never got to say a word."
Hearing such juicy gossip, Diamond couldn’t help but smile amusedly as she also thought of what her New Year’s resolutions were.
’Let’s be together every year till death do us part!’ Kian wished as he looked affectionately at Diamond, whose attention was fixated elsewhere.
The new year had finally arrived, and there was so much that she wanted to achieve. A lot of people she wanted to save and help. It didn’t really matter if her name got widely known out there, as long as she returned something to society.
However, society had really done nothing for her since it was her parents who toiled hard to raise her up. However, since doing good deeds was a good thing and was also another condition she agreed on when binding the system, she might as well do it in style.
Doing charitable deeds wasn’t the only thing that could help other people. After talking with Ruby that other night, something that made her feel as if the burden on her shoulders was finally lifted, a new idea came to her.
If she were to work on that as well while dealing with the drought contingency plan, she believed that the world would be for the better.
However, for that new idea, she wasn’t in a hurry to start it. It was going to be a very difficult year and with what she had planned; she doubted if it would work out really well.
But for now, she was going to just enjoy this wonderful moment and sincerely wish that 2079 would be another blessed year just as 2078 was for her.
’Happy New Year, everyone!’
