Chapter 201: Chapter 199: UNTITLED

[Ding! Do you want to sign in?]

’Sign in!’

[Ding! You have been rewarded with a Lindwens Manor. You can retrieve the keys and deeds from the inventory.]

Diamond was left in a daze even after the system vanished for a while.

’What did I just receive?’

It still felt like a dream to her. She felt as if a joke was being played on her. And that was more so when she recalled this specific manor that she had been rewarded with.

Was it really the same thing, or maybe the names were quite similar?

"Andrea, project everything about Lindwens Manor to me, right now!" she urgently ordered upon seeing how she would only drive herself crazy without getting the answers that she needed.

{Sure, coming in five!} Andrea responded.

Diamond knitted her brows as she pondered what was really going on while she waited for Andrea to project the information for her.

Moments later, a virtual screen appeared in the middle of the room and Andrea began to narrate to Diamond.

{Lindwens Manor is found in Dielas and it has a history that dates back three and a half centuries ago. It was built by an aristocratic family, the Lindwens, and has been in their possession until now.}

{According to some redacted information not known to the public, the manor was last lived in a century ago, after strange sightings started happening. In other words, the manor became haunted and whoever tried buying it from the Lindwens, something always happened to them.}

{So, for a century, no one could live there and it hasn’t been opened to the public as well. The manor is built on an expansive piece of land and consists of numerous courtyards and halls. It is built on top of the mountain and whoever owns the manor also owns the mountain.}

Diamond couldn’t help but take a deep breath as she listened to all that. Of all houses, why did she receive a haunted one?

But knowing the system, it would never do anything that would harm her. Was that place really haunted or just hiding something? She couldn’t help but wonder.

"Okay. How much is the manor currently priced at the market?" she asked curiously.

{If it was before, it would have been worth billions, but the Lindwens took every single valuable asset when they left the manor. So, the manor is priced at one hundred and fifty million on the market right now.}

"Oh!" she exclaimed as a smile blossomed on her face. "Does this mean that I just earned big right now?"

{That might be the case!}

"Hahaha, perfect! Can you infiltrate the manor system if it has one?"

{The system is outdated but I can work with it!}

"Perfect. Upgrade the system to the fullest and make sure that no one trespass there. At the same time, try and see if you can make your babies do something there. I don’t want to hire human labor at the moment but wouldn’t mind some robots maintaining the place. Can you, do it?"

{It’s easy as pie. My babies don’t have much to do, so they are ready at any time."

{Good, use all my resources at your disposal. Get whatever is needed. When I go to Dielas next time, I want to go to the manor!"

Diamond was so excited just thinking about it.

{I won’t let you down, mom!}

Diamond slept peacefully that morning.

After waking up several hours later, she was more refreshed than ever. After her daily routine, Diamond excitedly made her way downstairs, where she found everyone gathered already.

Ruby was in the kitchen helping their mother with breakfast, while her father was with Kian discussing something.

After exchanging greetings, Diamond sat in the living room as she listened with a smile to the two men speaking.

Ten minutes later, everyone went to the dining room, where they had breakfast.

Ruby washed the dishes when they were done before leaving with Belinda and Richard. Since they had so much to do about the garage and saloon, the three didn’t want to be idle.

At home, only Kian and Diamond were remaining.

"Let’s go out for a date!" Diamond suggested.

She was too bored to stay at home, so she just wanted to go out.

Kian agreed as he also wanted to spend more time with Diamond and go on dates with her. Staying at home was good, but he didn’t want to feel as if he was being suppressed, afraid of being seen by her parents.

"Where should we go?" Kian asked as the two were in the car.

"Um. There is a nearby forest somewhere around here. I have been curious about it and would like to check it out!" Diamond calmly responded while looking at Kian.

Kian nodded his head, not minding where he would go. After all, what matters is that he would be with her.

"I don’t mind. Wherever you want to go, we will go!"

Upon hearing that, Diamond was happy. Kian knew how to listen to her; she just didn’t know what Sullivan would be like. After all, the two didn’t get to know each other well before they rolled in the sheets.

The couple happily drove to the forest where they spent several hours surrounded by nature and knowing each other more.

By the time the couple returned to the villa, if people were there, they could see that something had changed between them.

Diamond couldn’t help but be happy, especially knowing the progress between her and Kian.

When they returned, Belinda, Richard, and Ruby hadn’t returned yet. The couple would have cuddled and watched a movie or two, but Kian received an urgent call he needed to take.

Seeing that, Diamond also excused herself and went to her bedroom. She didn’t know how long Kian would take, but she also didn’t want to spend her time being idle when she could do something.

Diamond didn’t stay inside her bedroom but vanished into the space where she started harvesting some ripe crops that she had neglected for the past few days.

Later that evening, everyone was at home and Diamond was helping her mother this time to prepare dinner.

As they cooked food, the mother and daughter talked happily. Diamond listened attentively as her mother talked about all the ideas she had regarding the saloon.

Seeing her like that, Diamond was at ease and very happy that the light in her mother’s eyes was finally back.

An hour later, everyone once again gathered in the dining room where they ate their meal with gusto, with cheerful smiles on their faces.

After the heartfelt meal, Ruby cleaned the dishes while the rest were in the living room watching the news.

Diamond sat there anxiously as she prayed inwardly that everyone would accept the news she was about to share once Ruby joined them.

Ruby finished doing her dishes and came to join everyone, her eyes also shifting to the TV.

At that moment, the weather report segment started showing and Diamond nervously watched as the pretty lady reporting commented on how hot the following days were predicted to be.

She didn’t forget to mention how there won’t be any expected rainfall for that week.

While seeing that, she sensed a burning gaze on her and when she looked around to find who was looking at her like that; she noticed that Kian was the one looking at her.

Diamond helplessly shrugged her shoulders before shifting her attention to the TV once again.

"Ah! With how hot it is, if it were years ago, I would have thought that we were about to be hit by a drought!" Belinda sighed dejectedly after the news ended.

"That’s true. I can’t help but recall that eighteen years ago, was it in 2060 or was it 61, the rain was as stingy as it is now. And we suffered for three years straight before things went back to normal!" Richard sentimentally recalled the time when life was tough on them and everyone else.

Hearing that, Belinda couldn’t help but smile wryly. "Those times were truly bad. Diamond was seven years old, and I conceived Ruby during those times. It was indeed one of the toughest times we ever experienced. I don’t want to suffer like that ever again!"

"Don’t worry, nothing like that will ever happen!" Richard promised his wife as he held it affectionately.

Belinda looked at her husband with love and trust in her eyes, reassuring the man that she would always believe him.

Nevertheless, she didn’t do that for long as she shifted her attention to her daughter, whom she just recalled was knowledgeable about many things.

The last time she was able to predict the rain on Christmas day, wouldn’t she be able to see whether there might be a drought hitting them anytime soon, too?

"Darling!" so she didn’t hesitate but immediately called out to her daughter before she forgot about it.

"Mom!" Diamond puzzlingly answered her mother, wondering what her mother wanted to talk to her about.

Seeing the direction where the topic her mother had started was going, she had been looking for an opening to breach the sad and bad news to them.

However, now, with what her mother was doing, she couldn’t help but ponder if she would have to delay conveying the message.
