Chapter 183: Chapter 181: CHRISTMAS DAY 3

On the other side of Taco, Belinda and Richard were sitting and playing cards with their friends in an old building that had been in the community for over thirty years.

The building was a community building where the elderly and the youngsters of that particular neighborhood could hang out and have fun.

That was the neighborhood where the couple raised their children in, so they were pretty fond of the place.

To celebrate the wonderful day, they went to meet up with their friends they used to get along with pretty well.

And there they were, playing games at a round table and having so much fun.

"Pitter-patter."

"Rat-a-tat."

"Drip-drop."

The rain suddenly started raining, and the sound could be heard. With how the building was roofed with metal sheets, the rain even sounded very heavy and frightening.

"Oh! It’s really raining!" Belinda exclaimed in surprise upon hearing the rain falling.

"Heh! Ma Diamond, what are you talking about? Did you know that it will rain today?"

Belinda’s expression looked funny as the questions were thrown at her.

"You can say so. My daughter told me to prepare an umbrella, but I didn’t believe her." She could only helplessly say this as she recalled how they didn’t believe Diamond’s words back then.

"Oh! Your daughter must be capable!"

"She is doing her best."

"Hah, don’t worry about the rain. Soon it will be stopping. Where can it go?"

Although it was raining, none of them believed that there would be heavy rains or the rain would continue to pour, so they got back to playing their cards once more.

But when the roof started sounding as if it was being hammered, drummed, and smashed, the women and men playing all stopped and looked at each other in horror.

"Is it really going to be heavy rains?" one of them asked in despair.

At that moment, "drip-drop," from nowhere, droplets of water started dropping and all of them went straight onto the floors.

Looking up to the roof, the several elders could only see the shining water glimmering on the metal sheets and they all knew that it was coming.

"If we continue staying in here, the roof might even end up falling on us."

"What should we do?"

"If we go out now, we might suffer again."

"Yes, the rain sounds very heavy. What should we do?"

As Belinda and Richard listened to their friends’ worries, they both regretted it.

Only if they had listened and prepared beforehand. Wouldn’t they be in a better situation right now?

Or maybe they should have done exactly what Diamond did, stay at home and didn’t bother to go out. With how heavy it was raining; it was even riskier to drive.

What were they going to do?

"Call Ruby and ask where she is. If she is still outside, then we call Diamond and hear from her what we should do," Richard instructed his wife upon seeing how blank she looked at what was happening.

When she heard that, Belinda hurriedly began to make her move.

She took her phone and called Ruby. Fortunately, the little girl answered her phone quickly and shortly Belinda could hear the drumming as the rain sounded heavier on Ruby’s side.

"Darling, you ... are you still outside?" Belinda asked worriedly as her hands trembled at the thought of her daughter being stuck in the rain.

[Huh, we are at the mall. It seems that we can’t go anywhere with this rain,] Ruby sounded dejected on the other side.

"Badum-badum," Belinda’s heart began to beat wildly as she thought of the danger her baby might face by being outside at a time like this.

"No matter what you do, don’t dare go anywhere in this kind of weather. Do you hear me?" she stated sternly as her hands trembled.

[I won’t be going, anyway. I guess just like others we can only wait.]

"That’s good. Keep in touch with me, you hear me?"

[Yes, Ma, I will.]

"Have you talked to your sister yet?"

[I am afraid not. I don’t know what she is up to, but I haven’t been able to reach her for a while now. Maybe she is sleeping.]

"I hope so. Okay, I will try to get in touch with Diamond. Just stay put there!"

[Sure Ma.]

After sternly instructing Ruby, Belinda hung up the call with a heavy heart.

"I hope that Diamond is at home. I don’t want anything happening to all of us!" Belinda prayed as her shaky hands dialed her eldest’s number.

"Ring. Ring. Ring."

The phone kept on ringing, but there wasn’t an answer.

Belinda tried calling ten times, and yet there wasn’t anyone responding. Seeing that, she didn’t know what to do. She could only look at her husband with teary eyes.

Richard hugged his wife as he brought her closer in his embrace.

They had moved to a much better room with a roof that wasn’t much leaking. Outside, no one could see anything as the rain continued falling heavily.

Within a short period, there were already dams that had been formed and one could imagine the terror that those people living in shacks and poor roofed houses were experiencing right now.

Richard didn’t bother to say anything but reassured his wife that everything would be okay, though he wasn’t sure about that.

They all could simply just hope that the heavens weren’t angry and that no one would suffer because of this rain.

Back to Diamond. The other didn’t know how long she had been in the Golden space but all she knew was that she was making progress.

She had concocted one pill after the other and she failed miserably for a long time.

When she was about to give up, that was when she managed to concoct five low-grade pills that disintegrated upon being touched.

"Alas, this is expected. How could I dare concoct pills without a flame?" she lamented.

Diamond was trying her luck. She didn’t have the alchemy flames that were required to use in concocting pills, nor did she have the cauldron.

As a result, she used some iron pots she purchased previously with the strong fire she made. And since it wasn’t suitable, it was only failure after failure.

"I guess I can only wait until I have the resources to be willful!" Diamond accepted her defeat as she stood up.

He dusted the non-existent dust from her clothes, though she was stinky from all the sweating.

Diamond got rid of the pots and the dredges from the pill-making before taking another bath.

After the bath, she got rid of the clothes she was wearing, as she no longer felt that they could be worn. They stank so much she couldn’t bear wearing them again.

After entering her bedroom, she went to the closet where she ended up picking a jumpsuit to wear.

[Mother, you have several missed calls from your parents and Ruby.]

"Oh! Did something happen?" she asked curiously as she made her way towards her phone.

[It’s been raiding heavily for a couple of hours now.] Andrea said, informing her of what was happening when she was in the space.

When she heard that, she exclaimed worriedly. "OMG! Andrea, where are they right now?"

She didn’t want anything happening to those three. With how heavy the rain sounded; it wouldn’t be shocking if several houses got carried away. It was as if the rain was here to plunder and punish.

For a rainfall that was coming and going, ushering the era of drought, it sounded as if it was there for vengeance.

[Ruby is at **** shopping mall and your parents are at **** community building.]

"My parents are where?" she couldn’t believe what she just heard.

The building was so old that anything could happen to it.

’I need to go and bring them safely home, but how do I do that? I can’t even drive with how bad the weather is. I will end up dying first before I even rescue them.’

"Andrea, how long will the rain last?"

[Midnight!]

"What the ....? You aren’t tripping, are you?"

[I never_]

"Yes, you never joke or play. Damn!" Diamond was completely pissed off as she thought of this.

Would she allow her sister and parents to be out there, which wasn’t safe just like that?

She found herself melting to the floor.

’I should have worked harder!’ she blamed herself.

Only if she had convinced them to not go out. Only if she was strong enough to go and fetch them home.

It was at a moment like this that Diamond, for the first time, understood the importance of getting strong.

But what was the use of that now? It’s not like she could change anything. She didn’t even have the capital to do so.

’How will I save them? I can’t give up now. I mustn’t!’ Diamond cheered herself as she tried standing up.

’Although there is nothing that I can’t do personally, I can let Andrea do the hard work for me. If I can’t control the car perfectly, can’t Andrea do it well?’

Driving when it was raining wasn’t recommended at all. The risks of getting into accidents were very high.

Visions would be impaired, and the roads would be slippery, making it difficult for drivers to drive properly.

But Andrea wasn’t a human being. He was an A.I. and capable of doing what she couldn’t do herself.

There was an extra car at home she purchased back then since her parents and Ruby were using the other two.

As long as she let Andrea drive her and take her to pick up her parents, she didn’t believe that it wouldn’t work.

Thinking up to that point, Diamond felt motivated and invigorated.

’Let’s do this!’ she cheered herself.

"An_" Diamond was about to call Andrea when she stopped mid-sentence, her mouth wide open as if an egg had been thrown inside.

[Ding! It has been detected that the host had performed a great act of filial piety towards her family and everyone was touched.]

[Ding! The host’s action of entertaining others and making her family proud and happy had been recognized.]

[Ding! ...]

’What the heck is going on?’ that’s all she could think of as the system’s notifications kept on pouring in.
