SIGNING IN: BEING SHOWERED BY HEAVENLY BLESSINGS FOR FIVE YEARS -
Chapter 182 - 180: CHRISTMAS DAY 2
Chapter 182: Chapter 180: CHRISTMAS DAY 2
"If I had known that going to a bigger city would change someone like this, I would have gone also!" a slightly chubby girl sulkily said as she looked at another girl around her age.
Unlike her chubby state, the other looked curvaceous and much taller than her. She didn’t seem to have an ounce of fat on her body at all, unlike her.
She looked prettier and her skin didn’t have any blemishes. And she also couldn’t see a sign of makeup on the other face at all.
And most of the changes happened after the other went to the city where her sister was staying.
Was the water there that good to change someone like that?
She had also seen the sister, and the other was even more fairylike, she wouldn’t even compare.
Just how were others doing it?
"Hehe, how can you say that? It’s just that my sister is overpowered!" the girl, getting complimented, shamelessly boasted as she looked at the group of girls that she was sitting with.
"Your sister is overpowered! It’s not like she is some character in a novel!"
"Hehe, if our life was a novel, it wouldn’t surprise me if she was some overpowered character. She is that mighty, trust me!"
"You ... you really aren’t joking?" the slightly chubby girl asked hesitantly as her eyes carried a glint of confusion in them.
"When did I, Ruby, ever lie to you guys?" Ruby asked her friends firmly, seeing how they weren’t believing her.
"But .... It just doesn’t make sense. How about you tell us a little about what your sister has been up to?"
That couldn’t be helped. They hadn’t seen Ruby’s sister that much but had heard about her a lot. Ruby had never stopped bragging about her elder sister, and they had always been curious about her.
They had known about Ruby for several years now, so they knew about her situation.
From nowhere, Ruby went from rags to riches and it was all because of her sister. Ruby went to the city to stay with her sister and returned even prettier and more of a fairy.
She was even driving and wearing luxurious clothes. Just how OP was this sister to change a person in such a short time?
There weren’t many times when Ruby had a chance to brag about Diamond and now that a platform had been opened for her, she began.
And the more her friends listened, the more awed they became. Ruby even had proof to confirm what she was telling them about, so everyone was very convinced.
"Is it really that expensive?"
"Um, it is. But it is worth it!" Ruby responded to the question that had been posed to her.
"If we are to save and gather enough money, will your sister sell us a bottle?" the slightly chubby girl asked nervously as she looked at Ruby with hopeful eyes.
Ruby grinned happily upon hearing that.
"She will, and since you are my friends, I can help to talk to her for you. She might give you a discount!"
"That will be great."
"When are you returning?"
Ruby didn’t hesitate, but outrightly responded to them. "Around eight there. The foundation is opening on the 10th, so Diamond needs to be in the city before then."
"And when is your university opening?"
"Um, around thirteen there."
"That’s pretty too early."
"Yes. Us, we will be going in February."
Ruby sighed enviously hearing that, but what could she do? She chose that university willingly, so she might as well suffer for a bit.
Besides, the semester will be ending in mid-May. After that, the second semester will be starting around mid-July and ending at the month end of November.
Although there wouldn’t be a lot of time to have fun and stay away from books, Ruby didn’t believe that the system was in place for no reason. Besides, the university was pretty good, which was why she picked it in the first place.
The girls began to talk more about their impending university days that were approaching and everyone was excited.
Thinking of the freedom and the fun of being adults at university, the girls just couldn’t wait.
The girls were at a famous shopping mall and in one café, which was half full. There weren’t a lot of people roaming around. It was very hot and the majority of people had returned to their home villages for the holidays as well.
The café was outside the mall, so it was easy for the girls to see the road and other shops nearby.
As they sat there having fun, all of a sudden one of them exclaimed.
"OMG! Guys, look at the sky!" she exclaimed with her mouth wide open as she looked shockingly outside.
When Ruby heard that, she also looked towards the window before a stunned expression hung on her face.
’OMG! Diamond is indeed a prophetess. It’s going to rain.’
"Is it really going to rain, guys?" one of them asked nervously.
"Looking at how the clouds are darkening all of a sudden, I have a bad feeling about this."
"Then.... Should we go home now?"
"Ah! This early. There is no way I am going now."
"That’s true. Besides, it won’t be raining for long. We might as well chill and have some fun."
"Yes. We can also roam around the mall and buy a few things."
Even Ruby was convinced and decided to not leave her friends to go home but to stay with them. There was no way it would rain the whole day.
It hadn’t rained the whole season after all.
Ruby soon forgot about the rain and resumed chatting happily with her friends.
Talking about university, she didn’t know what Diamond had planned for her, but whatever it would be, she was looking forward to it.
"Guys, so will you be staying on campus, home or renting elsewhere?" Ruby asked curiously as she looked at her friends.
The slightly chubby one sighed dejectedly as she thought of the answer.
"Since I will be going to the technical college, my parents told me to go to school from home. When will I have the freedom to go loose?" she lamented, as she thought of how her parents wanted to keep her close.
"Hahaha, you aren’t alone there. But I think that it’s cheaper. Schools are getting expensive nowadays."
"That’s true. If you rent outside, your family can’t help you with everything that you need."
"Even if it’s like that, I will still stay outside. Hehe lucky me, I don’t have relatives where I am going."
"So, how will you manage?" Ruby asked curiously as she looked at one of her friends who would be studying away from Taco just like her.
"I will find some part-time jobs to do. Internet is now advanced, getting a part-time job is pretty easy."
"That’s true. Even if you don’t find one online, you can still find others. There are so many jobs that teenagers and students could do to earn money nowadays."
"What about you, Ruby?"
"Yes. Campus, renting or staying with your sister."
The girls were curious. After all, amongst the many of them, only Ruby now seemed to be faring much better than everyone else.
Ruby shook her head helplessly as she responded. "Honestly, I don’t know. My sister is taking care of everything else and I haven’t asked her yet. But I don’t think that I will be staying at the campus. I don’t want to live there."
"Oh! Why? I think that university campuses are quite good. You get to mingle with your peers and all that."
Ruby shook her head, rejecting that idea.
"I would rather stay at home with my big sister and go to work when I am not attending school. Of course, I can hang out with my friends, but I just don’t want to fall for peer pressure," Ruby sighed as she said that. "Because we will be away from home, we tend to go loose and wild. I don’t want to do things that I will regret. So, until I know I am strong enough to be out there by myself, I would rather live with my sister or rent."
"You ... no wonder why you have always been the top student. Your thinking is just way above us. How did you even go there?"
Ruby’s friends began to tease her and Ruby cooperated well.
"Pitter-patter."
"Rat-a-tat."
"Drip-drop."
As the girls were in the middle of enjoying their snacks and beverages, all of a sudden, the rain that they had completely thrown out of their heads a while ago started falling.
"Oh! It’s really raining!" Ruby exclaimed excitedly upon seeing the real deal.
"At least it won’t be too hot anymore!"
The girls were happy and so were the other customers who didn’t believe that the rain would continue for the whole day.
Ruby took out her phone and messaged her sister.
[Sis, it’s really raining, your friend is a genius!]
However, there was no response.
Anyway, Ruby put her phone back and joined in the fun once again.
