SIGNING IN: BEING SHOWERED BY HEAVENLY BLESSINGS FOR FIVE YEARS -
Chapter 171 - 169
Chapter 171: Chapter 169
Strawford City
"Pi di, pa da," the sound of footsteps filled the room, which was beautifully decorated.
From the majestic and lifelike paintings hanging on the wall, the ceramic vases placed in several visible corners and spaces and the glass wall that made up half of the room.
Anyone could tell that not only the room but the house as a whole was on another level. Whoever was living in that house was obviously loaded and people that others needed to keep a lookout on.
At that moment, the person walking didn’t stop in the room but passed through as she walked towards another room.
Inside the other room, black sectional sofas, black carpet, a mini-table and a huge screen TV were in the room.
Lying on the other side of the sofa were two young girls holding their phones as if their life depended on it.
When the incoming person walked in, she came across the girls busy on their phones, giggling at one point and frowning at the other.
The TV was switched off and she could tell that the two had not switched it in the first place.
"Girls! What are you up to? I have been looking for you for a while!" the woman asked curiously as she walked towards the sofa where the girls were lying.
Upon hearing that, the girls raised their heads as they looked at the woman before they both smiled.
"Mother! You are awake!" one of the girls with red hair exclaimed happily upon seeing the woman.
The woman who was called mother sat on the other side of the sofa and looked at her daughters dotingly, "Precious and Patience. What are the two of you up to so early in the mounting?"
When the girls heard that, they stuck their tongues at their mother.
Patience, being the wild one as always, was the first to respond. "Mom, we are checking Diamond’s page. She is doing pretty well for someone who created an account, three to four days ago!"
The twins’ mother looked at her girls and began to regret ever allowing the girls to follow that stranger back to her home.
Just what exactly did she feed them for her naughty girls to become so dedicated to her?
"Don’t you know how to talk about other things?" Anita pouted sulkily upon seeing how her daughters were more concerned with someone else and not her.
"Come on, mom! Don’t tell me that you are jealous?" Precious stuck her tongue at her mother upon seeing how childish she was acting.
Anita shrugged her shoulders as she showed a helpless expression. "How can I not be jealous at a time like this?"
"Hehe, didn’t we return home to you?"
"Hehe, don’t act as if you wanted to come back home. If we hadn’t threatened you, I think you would have followed her to her hometown!" Anita laughed at the thought of that.
"Haha, she knows us well!" Patience whispered to Precious.
"I heard you!" Anita called out to her kids, who were acting as if she wasn’t around.
The room was filled with laughter as the mother and daughters teased each other relentlessly.
While they were busy playing around, another person entered the room dressed in a black suit, making him look very handsome and refined.
Upon sensing that someone else had entered the room, the three females all stopped what they were doing and looked at the person that just entered.
"Mother, good morning!" the man had just walked in and greeted Anita with a smile on his face.
When Anita saw him, a smile blossomed on her face.
"Dean, dear, what are you doing here today?" Anita asked in surprise.
She wasn’t expecting to see her son so early in the morning at the main house. Dean was always busy with work and with her husband delegating some of the work to him, he was a busy person.
Dean didn’t get offended when his mother asked about that. He knew perfectly well why she was surprised. It was rare for him to come to the main house, especially in the mornings.
Most of the time, he would come during weekends and if he found time, once in a while during the week, but around dinner.
Dean found a space on the sofa and settled there.
"I just received a report and decided to come and share it with you," he calmly responded as his gaze shifted to the twins, who were making funny faces at him.
Seeing them like that, a smile hung on his lips. They were very active and childish as always, but he liked them that way.
They were the family’s princesses and were born to be spoiled and pampered.
"Brother! Didn’t you see us?" Patience pouted as she asked Dean with a wronged expression on her face.
Precious seeing her sister acting shamelessly again, she simply buried her head in her mother’s ample chest. She didn’t want to see this shameless person at all.
Dean laughed out loud upon hearing that.
As always, his sisters were the best.
Anita had to stop the girl’s antics before she went even further to cause trouble.
"You stop. You know your brother is busy!" Anita chided Patience.
Patience scowled her face sulkily at Dean before looking away, though her lips curled as she did so.
"Son, what is it? Is it that urgent?" Anita asked her son as soon as Patience stopped causing trouble.
Dean helplessly shook and nodded his head as he recalled how bizarre the report that he received was.
"Who is it about?" Anita asked further upon seeing her son’s reaction.
Dean looked at the twins first before he answered his mother. "It’s about Diamond."
"What about, big sister?" upon hearing a familiar name, Patience, who was pretending to play dead, intervened again.
"You, keep quiet!" Anita chided Patience once again.
Patience looked at Precious with an aggrieved look, trying to make Precious feel pity for her, but Precious looked away and refused to let Patience have her way.
In the end, Patience was forced to keep her mouth shut as she listened anxiously to what her brother had found on Diamond.
"I have used all channels I can but I can’t seem to find anything. Everything about her family and herself, it’s like she is a ghost. The little that we found can’t even be used to compare with the person that she is portraying."
"Are you saying that there might be a conspiracy and that she is hiding something?"
"I think that she must come from a powerful family or she has someone powerful backing her. And whoever that person is, he or she must be a powerful hacker with good computing skills."
Anita was quite surprised when she heard that.
"Are you saying that we can’t get anything?"
"I am afraid so. I guess if we want to know more, the only way to do that is to get close to her. But I also think that’s only when she allows you to do so," Dean helplessly said as he recalled how frustrated the P.I. he sent was when giving him a report.
Upon hearing that, Anita didn’t know what to think anymore. She turned to look at the girls, who were both silent and listening attentively, and an idea struck her.
"Girls, did you find anything when you were with her?" Anita asked.
As the twins’ mother, she knew the reason why her daughters followed Diamond in the first place. But instead of saying something upon return, the girls were either on their phones boasting about how good Diamond was or talking about how fun it was to work at the foundation.
When the twins heard that, they both looked at their mother knowingly.
"Mother, honestly, we have no clue regarding what she does exactly. But what we can tell you is that there is indeed something fishy about her. She ....."
Precious began to narrate what she had seen or suspected as she stayed with Diamond.
"So, you are saying that the foundation that she runs, she owns the building that is eleven stories and supposedly worth hundreds of millions. And the house she lives in is in one of the best villa complexes and worth a lot, too?"
"Yes. We just know that she is loaded, but as for what she does and how she earns that money. We are clueless."
"We could even fish for information from her younger sister as well. Whatever she does, she knows how to hide herself well."
When the twins thought of how useless it was for them back then, they felt very embarrassed, especially with how they boasted about how they were good at fishing for whatever they wanted.
"So, what do you think about her? Is she good or bad?" Anita asked her girls.
Since they had stayed with Diamond, she needed to know her girls’ opinions. Those two were picky, and it was usually very difficult for them to befriend others.
So as long as they liked her, it meant that her character was good otherwise. There was no way that anyone could tame Patience when she dislikes the other.
Upon getting that question, the girls started showing their mother and brother what it meant to shoot one’s foot.
’And when I act jealous, how could they complain when they are busy boosting someone else’s daughter like this?’
She just couldn’t understand what charm Diamond gave her daughters.
Were they really her daughters or someone switched them?
