SIGNING IN: BEING SHOWERED BY HEAVENLY BLESSINGS FOR FIVE YEARS -
Chapter 161 - 159
Chapter 161: Chapter 159
Diamond was quite surprised when she learned of Clarissa’s background. She came from a literacy family also known as a scholar family.
The family had been involved in grooming thousands of great leaders throughout the centuries.
It was their reputation, and the hoarded riches from generations, that made them very reputable and famous.
At the moment, Clarissa’s mother was a well-known professor at Frin International University. Her father was a research scientist and was very busy throughout the year.
It was only in her generation that they steered away from the family tradition and started venturing into other industries.
Her older brother was running a business, though it was basically more on providing online education to students. It was quite popular, and he was earning a lot of money through it.
Her elder sister became a gynecologist, and she was famous in her area. The third born was another sister who recently graduated and now working at a law firm.
Lastly, it was she who took a completely different path than her siblings and went into fashion.
Not only was she into fashion, but she had somehow become a socialite in the process, and the spotlight was very addictive.
Madam Sawyer was Clarissa’s aunt by marriage. She married her father’s younger brother, who unfortunately passed away a decade ago. Leaving Madam Sawyer childless and a widow.
Madam Sawyer never remarried but continued her husband’s legacy.
Her husband was an avid art fan and his love of promoting art to the world was a legacy that Madam Sawyer, a former painter who hurt her hand during the car accident that took her husband’s life away, continued.
The two families were more like neighbors and they had been living together harmoniously for a very long time.
Besides, Madam Sawyer was a nice person to be around, so Clarissa especially liked the woman more.
When Diamond saw the villas next to each other. She was amazed by how creative and imaginative the architecture was.
Although the villas looked smaller than her Cherry Court villa, she could see that a lot of effort was put into building every single house she saw.
Madam Sawyer’s dinner party was an event that was literally held every year. So, she was always well prepared for it.
There were one hundred guests invited to the party, and Diamond was surprised to see new faces that she had not seen earlier at the gallery.
Luckily, there were Richard and Clarissa by her side who were very eager to provide her with information.
"Some people were invited to only the exhibition or the dinner party. While others were invited to both. It’s not everyone that loves having fun the whole day," Clarissa answered Diamond’s inquiries she had not voiced out.
When Diamond heard that, she found the approach to be quite good. That would solve a lot of problems and keep everyone engaged or at least interested in the event.
"That actually solves a lot of problems. I will consider doing it like that in the future," Diamond said with admiration as she looked at the many people walking with smiles on their faces.
"Hehe, when you hold an event, don’t forget to invite me. It won’t matter where I am. I will come for you, darling!" Richard whispered against her ear while glancing at Clarissa provocatively.
Clarissa just hmphed, no longer taking Richard’s antics to heart. After battling for a while, she started to realize that Richard just loved trouble. As long as she ignores him, he will stop targeting him.
And surely, upon seeing Clarissa no longer responding, he quickly lost interest.
"I will invite you, don’t worry!" Diamond readily accepted.
She had never hosted anything in her life. She used to have no real friends before, but now that was different.
She couldn’t wait to host something and invite all the people she had befriended to witness her majesty, or at least accompany her on such a beautiful day.
Her birthday was two months away, so maybe she should start thinking about where to host her birthday party.
She wanted it to be grand, memorable and a day people would never forget.
The three of them entered the villa under the wham ushering of the maids dressed in black and white.
Since Clarissa was Madam Sawyer’s niece, Diamond and Richard didn’t need to move around like headless chickens.
Instead, Clarissa took the two of them to a guest room that had been specifically set aside for her in the villa.
Since Madam Sawyer was mostly by herself since she didn’t have kids to accompany her, Clarissa had a room in the villa. That way, she could accompany her whenever she could.
Diamond admired the room and found whoever designed the room’s taste to be quite acceptable.
Diamond took the time before dinner and started to freshen up. She took out some of her toiletries from her storage ring and used them to do some touches, though it wasn’t necessary.
After refreshing herself, she exited the bathroom and joined the two people quarreling like kids and siblings as well.
"Richard! Can you stop quarrelling with Clarissa? You have a six-year age gap for crying out loud!" Diamond helplessly reprimanded Richard.
"Darling, you .... She is the one that doesn’t stop!" Richard said, unwilling to give up easily.
Clarissa humped at Richard, turning her head away to ignore Richard.
Seeing them like that, she was even curious to know what was really going on between the two.
"If you continue ignoring each other like this. I will stop our friendship here!" Diamond said threateningly as she sat on the ottoman chair glaring at the two.
Upon hearing that, the two adults both looked at her in shock.
"Darling! You can’t do that to me!" Richard cried exaggeratedly as he came to sit down next to her.
"Try me and see!" Diamond said, showing her unyielding stance.
Clarissa looked at Diamond fidgetingly but didn’t dare open her mouth to tell Diamond what was really going on between the two of them.
"Will you confess or not?" Diamond glared at the two, hoping that they would air out their grievances and solve whatever problems there were.
"Fine. I will tell you!"
"No, I will tell you!"
And just like that, another round of quarrelling started again.
By the time the three of them joined the others, Diamond was still stuck between the two. After what she heard, should she cry or laugh?
It was simply hilarious, and she wished she had never been curious to know the reason why those two were acting like Tom and Jerry in the first place.
But when she saw how the two of them were finally getting along with each other, teasing each other and laughing at a joke or two, she decided to pretend as if she had never heard anything.
Actually, there wasn’t anything much to the dinner party. Everyone got seated at their respective and designated tables.
After that, wine was served and while driving and savoring the first few rounds of champagne, Madam Sawyer addressed her guests.
She basically expressed her gratitude to everyone who attended and how happy she was that everyone accompanied her on such a day.
Understanding Madam Sawyer’s unfortunate life, Diamond could relate to the reason why she was grateful for people to just come to her house and eat her food without bringing any gifts.
She was one of those people who didn’t bring a gift. Fortunately for her, she contributed to the exhibition, otherwise she would have been a freeloader.
After the wonderful speech, Madam Sawyer let everyone do as they pleased. In other words, those who were hungry could go to the buffet area and serve whatever they wanted and eat.
Those who wanted to mingle and just enjoy could also do that. And lastly, those who wanted to go home were allowed to do so, though Diamond doubted that anyone would be so tactless to do so.
If someone was so bold to do that, Diamond didn’t doubt that the person would be on everyone’s blacklist.
Even if you are not enjoying it, it was considered rude to just leave a function when it was in the middle. Just like how offensive it was for a student to leave while a class was being held.
Imagine how others would perceive you.
After walking around for the whole day, Diamond was indeed hungry. So, she was grateful when she saw Madam Sawyer finishing her speech.
With the freedom to go and fill the plates, Diamond dragged her two friends to the buffet area and started an exciting round of filling the plate.
"Darling, you .... Can you finish all that?" Richard asked worriedly as he looked at Diamond’s plate.
Diamond looked at the plate that was a quarter of what her normal plate would be like before glaring at Richard.
"Do you want me to drop dead because of hunger?" she asked irritably at him.
"Richard, after spending time with big sister. You will understand that my sister has a great appetite. Besides, she won’t get fat, so brush aside your thoughts!" Clarissa told Richard.
She once shared a meal with Diamond and Ruby. So, she understood how Diamond was a food lover. Unlike Richard, who had just met her for the first time that day.
Upon hearing that, Richard felt as if he had been hit by an arrow in his heart.
Clarissa still knew Diamond better than him. How could he be friends with her when they were both competing for the same person?
However, when he was busy thinking like that, he had no idea that a new competitor was about to enter the picture.
"Big sister, Diamond. It’s you!" a melodious and excited female voice happily called out.
