SIGNING IN: BEING SHOWERED BY HEAVENLY BLESSINGS FOR FIVE YEARS -
Chapter 160 - 158
Chapter 160: Chapter 158
Richard’s tone did not faze Clarissa. She knew him at least better than others. Besides, even if he were to try to scare her, she wasn’t one to readily succumb to fear. And she had something that he didn’t have. So, she didn’t believe that he would continue to act rudely as he was.
"Heh, I befriended her first. So be nice to me if you want to stick close to her!" Clarissa said without any fear as she looked at him with an, ’what can you do to me?’ look.
Upon hearing that, Richard turned his head and faced Clarissa with a hostile gaze.
"That won’t work on me, Richard. Trust me!" Clarissa didn’t tremble with fear, but actually scoffed at Richard’s antics. "And just like she said, if she doesn’t want to be found, you won’t find her. She wasn’t joking about it."
Upon hearing the second part as he intentionally ignored the first part, his brows furrowed, obviously not happy with what he had just heard.
"What do you mean by that?"
"Hehe, if you are curious. How about you do me a favor?" Clarissa wasn’t one to let such a good opportunity slip through her fingers.
Richard knew that Clarissa had the upper hand on this one. And since he was the one desperate in the case, he decided to concede just once. In the future, he would find a way to get a payback for everything.
He wasn’t one to forget debts and favors.
"Tell me what you want. I still need to ride the car with Diamond!"
TWO HOURS LATER
Garden View Villa Complex
’I am back in this place again!’ Diamond sighed as she drove through a familiar street.
It was quite surprising that the dinner party was being held in a complex where she owns a villa, too.
When she saw that, Diamond was thrilled. She had not seen the whole complex before, since she was only concerned with where her house was.
But with the excuse of attending a dinner party, she could check the inner ring and see what kind of people lived there.
She was also curious about how huge the villas were. After all, the Garden View complex was one of the best complexes in Frin.
Sitting next to her was a leech she couldn’t get rid of, but considering how the leech was cooperative and fun to be with, Diamond decided to accept her face.
"Dear, have you ever been to this place before?" Richard asked curiously as he looked at Diamond.
Diamond didn’t turn her head to look at Richard but still answered, "Um, I own a villa in the middle ring," truthfully, without hiding anything.
"OMG! You .... Aren’t you a hidden bigshot?" Richard exclaimed once again exaggeratedly, something that Diamond was seeing a bit more lately.
As long as they were alone, Richard didn’t act like a straight man at all. It was as if he was too comfortable around her that he was slipping his real self in front of her.
Hearing him, Diamond was starting to suspect that Richard might not be as straight as she thought he was after all.
"Um, I am one. Are you in awe of me now?" Diamond asked sarcastically as she shifted her gaze to the front.
"Darling. You awed me from the second I set my eyes on you!" Richard retorted shamelessly, giving Diamond another wave of headache.
Diamond followed Clarissa’s car while ignoring the chatty Richard and shortly she was parking next to Clarissa’s.
"This is a parking spot that was made for the masters and mistresses to play. It also serves its purposes on special occasions like this!" Richard explained to Diamond, though Diamond had not asked anything yet.
Diamond looked at Richard gratefully. After all, apart from him being too chatty at times, he was quite knowledgeable.
"Thanks, dear, for the information!" after labeling Richard to be a sister of some sort, Diamond no longer felt pressurized with the endearments that he had been throwing at her ever since they got into the car together.
"It’s what I should do!" he shamelessly accepted the praise, rendering her speechless.
The two exited the car, and Richard offered his hand to Diamond. Seeing what he was up to, Diamond didn’t reject his advances and accepted him.
When Clarissa got out of the car, she was quite surprised when she saw how close those two had become in such a short time.
Since when were they so close to the extent of walking arm in arm?
She couldn’t help but wonder. However, with that provocative glace Richard was giving her when Diamond was busy looking at the other side, she knew that it was going to be a crazy night.
Was this Richard the same one that she knew or they had been swapped?
Diamond walked arm in arm with Richard, who provided her with information regarding the inner circle as if he were a resident there.
After being with him, Diamond learnt that Richard wasn’t from Frin. He had only come to Frin with the painting that happened to belong to his sister.
Since it was from his sister, it was one of the reasons why Diamond easily got the painting. It was only when the exhibition ended that she learnt that a lot of people wanted to take the painting.
But with Richard present, his word was final, so Madam Sawyer transferred the painting to her.
Of course, she didn’t pay a single cent for it as Richard shamelessly offered it for free under the condition that they would become friends.
Richard wasn’t actually a bad person apart from his shamelessness, that knew no boundaries. She later found out that Richard was acting like that towards her only.
She saw him interacting with others, even Madam Sawyer included, but he wasn’t so sunny the way he was with her.
She didn’t know what he saw in her, but she could tell that he truly liked her and it wasn’t in a romantic manner. She was relieved about that since she really didn’t want to lose someone unique and adventurous like him because of lame feelings.
Besides, after making a few deductions, Diamond felt strongly that Richard was gay. She didn’t discriminate, nor was she homophobic. She accepted people as they were.
In the same way, she wanted people to accept her when they learned that she was into bigamy or polyandry. She didn’t want anyone to judge her the way Rita did. So even though Richard seemed more to be on the other side, she found him more relatable.
So, she liked him.
In fact, it could be said that among all the people she had befriended, Richard was the most intriguing one. And a friend that made her feel at ease.
As for what people would think of her and his relationship, seeing them like that, she didn’t care.
And he seemed to be enjoying the attention that they were both drawing, too.
"You guys. Can you even see that I am also here?" a frustrated Clarissa complained as she followed behind.
Diamond chuckled softly upon hearing Clarissa’s complaint. On the other side, Richard decided to provoke Clarissa to another level.
When it came to those two, honestly, Diamond didn’t understand what kind of beef they had with each other.
Every time they locked gaze; she could see them battling thousands of battles before they were reluctant to give up.
She just couldn’t understand why they couldn’t get along with each other at all. Or was that how friendship starts?
Hers with Richard started on a rocky patch, after all.
"Who made me have a pair of eyes only? How can I see what is behind me?" Richard mocked childishly, without giving Clarissa a face.
"Pfttt~" Diamond couldn’t help but laugh after hearing that.
Since when did Richard have such a sharp tongue?
"Richard! Heh, you will find me one day. And when you do, I will teach you a lesson you will never forget!" Clarissa fumingly said as she flared at Richard.
Richard rolled his eyes at Clarissa before urging Diamond to walk faster.
Diamond, seeing that the two might end up fighting for real, turned her head to look back at Clarissa.
Seeing her so angry like that, she still wanted to laugh, but she knew that she would only aggravate Clarissa.
Just like Richard, Clarissa also had a sharp tongue and if she were to leave those two to battle it out, she didn’t know what outcome she would be looking at.
’I am sorry. I will make it up to you!’ Diamond mouthed at Clarissa.
When Clarissa saw that, her depressed expression completely vanished before she skipped happily to catch up with Diamond and Richard.
When Richard saw a happy Clarissa, he rolled his eyes once again and decided to ignore her.
’I don’t see her!’ he chanted the mantra as he pulled Diamond with her.
The dinner party was being held at Madam Sawyer’s villa. Just like Clarissa, Madam Sawyer also lived in the Garden View complex.
Their families were loaded and also had a rich background.
