Chapter 159: Chapter 157

It was the same as thinking of love after marriage. What makes people so confident that would happen?

What if only hell waits for the loveless couple? Who would save them from that?

"The pleasure is all mine as well," Diamond responded with a smile.

Richard didn’t continue to look at Diamond but shifted his focus back to the painting and Diamond did the same.

"What do you think about it?" Richard asked as his gaze remained on the painting on the wall.

"It’s beautiful!" Diamond didn’t know many words to praise art, so she said what came to mind and what she really felt when she first saw it.

"It’s indeed pretty and refreshing," Richard said in acknowledgement as he turned to look at Diamond.

"Such beautiful scenery can only be captured here. With how the climate is right now, I doubt if we can actually witness such a beautiful scene!" Diamond sighed sadly as she recalled what made her upset earlier.

When Richard heard that, he couldn’t help but look at Diamond with surprise in his eyes.

"Was that what you were thinking earlier when I arrived?" he asked hesitantly, as he wasn’t sure that something like that would make a beautiful lady angry like that.

Upon hearing that question, Diamond chuckled embarrassingly as she found the reasons for being upset to be absurd.

"I am afraid it was like that. I just felt sad upon thinking like that."

Hearing her confirming, Richard found himself breaking into soft laughter.

"Hehe, you are one of a kind and I think that I am starting to like you more," he said with a chuckle as he looked at Diamond with an appreciative gaze.

"Oh!" raising her eyebrows in wonder she exclaimed before asking. "So, all this while you didn’t like me?" in a playful manner.

"How can you say something like that? Don’t slander me!" Richard denied the allegation exaggeratedly, making Diamond laugh this time around.

"How can you be so dramatic?" Diamond teared up after experiencing Richard’s antics.

Richard smiled with relief at seeing how happy Diamond was. She was less tense than she was before.

He could tell that she was indeed troubled about this climate change business and she was one of the few he knew who would be so sincere about something that most people take for granted.

"I am glad to see you happy!" he sincerely said as he looked at her.

Diamond didn’t say anything but looked at Richard with a sincere smile as well.

There was a brief silence as the two just looked at the painting without any words being shared.

"I can see that you love that painting. Fortunately for you, I know the artist and if you want it, you can go home with it!" after a while, Richard spoke up.

When Diamond heard that, her ears perked up as she turned to look at Richard with query.

"What are you up to again?" she asked suspiciously as she looked at him.

Richard was baffled upon being questioned like that.

"I don’t mean anything. I am just informing you," he answered helplessly.

"Oh! And you are not saying this to get some benefits from me?" Diamond corked her brows as she asked that with a mischievous smile on her face.

Seeing her like that, Richard sensed danger immediately and hurriedly waved his hands.

"Diamond, trust me. I am being honest and I don’t think about you in that way at all!" he hurriedly explained himself, afraid of making the person he had taken a liking to misunderstand him.

Upon hearing that, Diamond’s curiosity peaked.

"And who might you be interested in?" she slyly asked as she took a few steps closer to him.

Richard took a few steps back, evading Diamond’s directness. That was starting to scare him.

"You ... if you are curious, then become my friend!" he stuttered shyly as he said that.

Diamond placed her hand on her mouth as she stifled her laughter. How could a man be so cute like this?

"You .... Why are you laughing?"

"How can I not when you are acting like this? Must I really become your friend to know?" Diamond asked curiously as a smile continued to hang on her face.

Richard hurriedly nodded his head.

"Um. Only my friends get to know that about myself."

"Why don’t you then add the painting too? Maybe I can take your deal and become your friend!" Diamond teasingly suggested.

She was curious to see what kind of tricks Richard was playing. He didn’t seem to be brain-damaged. So, he was normal and not crazy.

The man was around seven to eight centimeters taller than her. He had a nice build that could be seen through the suit he was wearing. Above all, he carried himself in a manner that rich kids did.

In other words, he was the kind that wouldn’t lack friends and that got her wondering what he was up to trying to con her into befriending him.

"Are you for real? You can befriend me if I add the painting too?"

"Yes. Why not? After all, it’s you showing how important our relationship is to each other. You won’t go empty-handed too. I have a lot of wonderful things with me that you will definitely love!" Diamond said playfully.

Anyone who would hear her wouldn’t take her seriously. After all, who had made friends in such a manner?

"Deal. You won’t go back on your word, will you?" Richard asked as he looked at her suspiciously.

"I never go back on my word!"

And just like that, a friendship that bloomed in a way no one ever expected was formed. And it all started with a ridiculous bet.

By the time the exhibition ended, Diamond whistled joyfully as she walked towards the car with the gallery staff walking behind her, holding her priceless treasure. Something that she had gained after the torture of looking at paintings for nearly half a day.

"Are you leaving me behind already?"

And it wasn’t surprising that she wasn’t alone in enjoying the wonderful moment, as someone whom she never thought would be her tail or her friend from the first meeting was currently following her.

Diamond stopped in her tracks and turned her head to look at the back before glaring at the person whining at her.

"Richard, you are an adult. Besides, didn’t you come here with your own car?" Diamond chided the grown-up adult who had been sticking to her since the landscape painting viewing incident.

"I don’t want to go to the party in it. Since we are friends, let’s bond!" Richard shamelessly said as he caught up to her.

Seeing him like that, Diamond regretted it. The cute and easily embarrassed person she was with before vanished the second she agreed to become friends.

If she had known that she had gotten scammed, she would have rejected it despite her desire to own the painting.

"Hehe. Don’t even think about it. We made a pact and anyone that would break it would suffer the wrath of the heavens!" Richard stated as he corked his brows, obviously annoying and provoking her with his words.

"Humph! If you continue like that. Are you not afraid that after the party you will never find me?" Diamond scoffed as she looked angrily at Richard.

"My young missus. Even if you hide in a hole thousands of miles underground, I swear that I, Richard, would find you no matter what!" Richard boastfully said.

Upon hearing his words, Diamond became more dumbfounded. Just what kind of hilarious rich friend did she make?

Clarissa was talking with Madam Sawyer earlier, so by the time she caught up with Diamond, she arrived when Richard was declaring to Diamond how he could find her no matter where she hides.

Hearing that, Clarissa stifled her laughter as she found everything that had happened so far to be not only ridiculous but unexpected.

Who would have thought that she would come across the eccentric Young Master Richard whose ways were unique to the rest?

If it wasn’t for his love of keeping a low profile, a lot of people would have swarmed to him already.

The reason why she knew Richard was due to her aunt, Madam Sawyer. Her aunt had a close relationship with Richard’s family. And that was one of the reasons why Richard was attending the exhibition and the dinner party despite not being someone from Frin.

What she didn’t expect was to see Richard approaching Diamond and the two clicking after that.

Who would have guessed that Diamond’s charm was that great to make the infamous Richard act like a child towards her?

She couldn’t even save Diamond from Richard’s antics, so the only thing she could do was wait and see the drama.

"Heh. Don’t cry if you fail to find me!" Diamond scoffed at Richard before making her way again towards the car.

Richard smiled slyly as he watched Diamond angrily making her way towards the electric sports car that caught his eye the second, he saw it.

"Ms. Clarissa, do you have something to say to me?" without turning to look at Clarissa, the smiling Richard suddenly coldly asked.
