SIGNING IN: BEING SHOWERED BY HEAVENLY BLESSINGS FOR FIVE YEARS -
Chapter 158 - 156
Chapter 158: Chapter 156
"Clarissa, this friend of yours, what does she do?"
"Which family does she come from?"
"Girl, what kind of cosmetics do you use?"
"I have never seen you before. I am curious about your background!"
Questions started pouring the second Madam Sawyer left the group.
Clarissa could only helplessly look at Diamond and then the older ladies that she knew she couldn’t offend.
Although her tongue was sharp, she wasn’t one to exchange words with the elderly. Her mother would kill her if she learned that she had disrespected an elder, despite what was in the wrong.
She just hoped their eagerness wouldn’t offend Diamond.
Diamond found the situation very funny and entertaining. She didn’t feel offended by how direct the ladies’ inquiries were, but she was actually excited.
Seeing how they were asking, she could tell that they were just curious about her and having rich madams curious about her, she felt honored.
This was another way for her to expand her network and, since no one had touched her bottom line yet, she decided to satisfy their curiosity.
"It’s my pleasure to meet you, madams. As you must have heard earlier, my name is Diamond and my family, you have never heard of it. We are a very ordinary family just dabbing in several businesses," Diamond shamelessly lied as she looked at the four ladies with a smile.
Of course, the ladies could tell that Diamond didn’t want to divulge what her family did. After all, they would be fools if they were to believe that her family was ordinary.
With the way she was dressed, her clothes were probably worth more than what they were wearing.
However, they didn’t dare refute it. After all, they had all met for the first time and weren’t liable to pry sensitive information from her.
"I am twenty-five years old, soon to turn twenty-six and I don’t use a lot of cosmetics actually but a special one made by a researcher friend of mine. It’s quite good for the skin and anyone can use it. You won’t have any allegories by using it," Diamond calmly explained and didn’t get embarrassed as she advertised her other business.
"There is something like that? What is the product called? Can we buy it in the shops?"
"You look pretty young for your age. We should sit down and discuss your secrets!"
"I just want to know how we can access the cream you are talking about."
"Also, is it that good?"
Hearing more questions thrown at her again, Diamond felt happier inside. She had made them curious, and they had taken the bait.
"Of course, the cream is legit, and I have been using it for a year now and nothing has happened to me so far."
"It’s not easily accessible as the ingredients used according to my friend are hard to come by. So only a few quantities can be sold every month and they are a bit pricey too."
"If you want them, I can deliver them to you, but that should be tomorrow. I will be out of the city by Wednesday," Diamond told the ladies with a smile on her face.
Clarissa was stunned by this news. She had never bothered to ask the last time they met. So, hearing that Diamond had such wonderful cream with her, she regretted not asking earlier.
What if these ladies take everything from her, leaving her with nothing?
"You .... You are not teasing us, right?" the other lady asked solemnly as she looked at Diamond.
"Ladies, I will never joke about a woman’s beauty. Besides, you don’t have to worry about me scamming you. I will never stoop that low!" Diamond vowed.
Why should she con people out of a few thousand when her bank accounts had billions of dollars lying there?
"Hehe, we wouldn’t think like that."
"That’s true. If you have them. Can we have just one in the meantime? You know that we need to test first."
"Okay. I am fine with that. We can ...." With business confirmed, Diamond began to enthusiastically go into deeper details.
Unfortunately, her conversation with the ladies was cut short as Madam Sawyer appeared on the stage to officially start the exhibition.
Although it was later than everyone thought, everyone was excited and looking forward to bringing home a piece or two.
With the exhibition starting, Clarissa pulled Diamond away from the ladies and dragged her all over.
Diamond didn’t get tired as she found joy in meeting new people. Clarissa dedicated herself to introducing Diamond to several people, and Diamond was eager to be introduced.
Fortunately, she had brought her customized name cards with her number and name on the other side.
There was no sign of the company she belonged to. With so many companies under her, which name should she use?
Besides, she wanted these people to talk to her and befriend her instead of being attracted to her by what she owns.
Apart from chatting with everyone, Diamond also took her time to appreciate the paintings.
After checking the gallery for over an hour, appreciating every single piece of art she came across, one of them attracted her the most.
She couldn’t help but stand in front of the huge painting by herself. Even Clarissa was nowhere to be found, which wasn’t bad, as that allowed her to have a breather and enjoy the beautiful sight in peace.
It was a landscape painting and since she was interested in it, Diamond asked Andrea what kind of painting it was. So, she got some wonderful information regarding it.
According to Andrea, it was a representational landscape painting. It looked very realistic, as she could see how the artist tried to capture the essence of nature, as the name said.
In the painting, she saw a flowing river, very blue and filled with life. The fish could be seen here and there, but the ones jumping made Diamond want to eat some fish as she looked at them.
There was a waterfall that was supplying the river and those beautiful rockeries made Diamond imagine what it would be like to be in such a place.
She had never been to a waterfall before. She had seen it in movies and documentaries, but being in the presence of one, she would be lying if she claimed that she had seen it.
Beautiful trees were showing a lot of green and with just a glance, Diamond could see life emitting from the painting.
She didn’t know which place the artist saw to be inspired like that, but she felt touched.
And when she thought of how the beautiful land would be scotched by the sun due to the drought, her mood plummeted.
"I thought that you were enjoying the painting. What is bothering you again?" a raspy male voice sounded from her side.
Diamond, who had been concentrating on what was in front of her, was startled upon finding out that someone had approached her without her knowing.
She sized up the male that just disturbed her alone moment with a glare. "And what do you care?"
The man was obviously not expecting such a response. He couldn’t help but chuckle softly, finding the situation to be very unexpected.
"I am sorry for intruding. I didn’t mean to. So, I hope that you will forgive me!" without answering the rude question, the man apologized sincerely as he looked at Diamond.
Diamond felt embarrassed when the man responded to her like that. She was caught off guard and ended up saying something like that.
It even became worse when the man lowered himself to apologize. She could tell that he wanted to maintain peace, and that move of his warmed her.
She raised her hand and scratched her nose shyly.
"Um, no problem. I forgive you and I am sorry as well."
Diamond didn’t want to be perceived as a rude person, since she wasn’t really like that, or so she thought.
The man smiled softly at her, finding her actions very cute.
"Then I guess we can now talk peacefully!"
"Um, let’s do that. I am Diamond, by the way," Diamond introduced herself the second she started feeling at ease with the man’s approachable ways.
"I am Richard, and it’s nice meeting you, Diamond," Richard smilingly said as he stretched his hand towards hers.
Diamond extended her hand towards Richard. The two shook hands for a second before parting ways.
’It’s unfortunate. I don’t feel anything,’ she lamented as she maintained a smile on her face.
Richard was good-looking and had ways with words. Diamond had a weakness for handsome men. It was one of the reasons why she ended up with Kian and Sullivan.
However, before hooking up with handsome men, the spark, physical attraction and sexual tension should be there at the first meeting.
She didn’t have time to wait and let things ferment. Who knows how long that would take?
It wasn’t everyone who had that kind of patience.
