Chapter 157: Chapter 155

"This place looks great!" Diamond marveled as she looked at the several paintings hanging on the wall.

Although she wasn’t knowledgeable about what was really going on with the paintings, that didn’t stop her from appreciating the artistic drawings.

Who didn’t like seeing good things?

"Hehe, I told you that you will enjoy it!" Clarissa cheerfully boasted as she walked by Diamond’s side.

Diamond turned to face Clarissa and grinned at her. "You never lie. I know."

The two of them didn’t continue to appreciate the paintings as they walked towards the group of ladies that were gathering together.

It was an art exhibition, but how could it start without an opening remark?

And before that happens, the guests usually gather around, have a chat and then take a look at what interests them.

"Just follow my lead. I will introduce you to a few friends of mine and some of the elders that I am acquainted with," Clarissa informed Diamond as they walked.

Upon hearing that, Diamond felt very warm. She was glad that she met someone like Clarissa, who was willing to show her around and introduce her to more people.

When it comes to making connections, it would be much easier to have someone else help you smoothen the process.

"Thanks, dear," Diamond sincerely said.

"Hehe, this is what I should do. Besides, I am planning on taking you around as long as you are there!"

"Then I guess next year will be a hectic one!" Diamond said teasingly.

"But one that you will enjoy!"

"I hope so."

It wasn’t long before the two of them reached the gathering ladies.

"Well, well, well. Who do we have here?"

Diamond knew it. There would be drama as long as rich and famous people gathered. Just who was this troublesome person drawing attention to them the second they arrived?

Clarissa scowled upon seeing the person causing trouble. Of all places to meet, she just had to meet that vixen. Just how unfortunate was she to meet her first?

"It’s not like your eyes are for decoration. Can’t you see?" Clarissa scolded.

She wasn’t one to tolerate shrewish people and especially those that wanted to cause trouble with her.

"You .....!" the perpetrator, who was wearing an extravagant and colorful bouffant dress with short sleeves, was frustrated as she angrily pointed her manicured finger towards Clarissa.

Diamond watched with awe as Clarissa defeated someone in just a few seconds with a simple sentence.

’Is this girl that weak?’ she wondered helplessly.

"Girls, come on! Can’t you both see where you are?"

Diamond watched as a slightly older woman reproached both Clarissa and the lady in a bouffant dress.

Clarissa humped as she looked provocatively at the bouffant-dressed young lady before shifting her gaze towards the intermediator.

"Sister Lucy. It’s her who started it. I was minding my own business and bringing my guest over, but it seems that she doesn’t take the host seriously. Otherwise, why would she try to provoke others in such a setting?" Clarissa aggrievedly explained herself to the woman whom Diamond now knew to be Lucy.

Lucy helplessly shook her head as she listened to Clarissa’s explanation. Who didn’t know about Clarissa?

She was one of the most direct young ladies she had ever seen. It didn’t matter where she was. As long as she was poked, she wasn’t one to back down easily.

"Okay. I understand you. Just ignore her. I heard that Madam Sawyer is looking for you. Go and introduce her to your friend before coming back!" Lucy said in a pacifying tone, urging Clarissa to go.

The lady in a bouffant dress glared at Clarissa before scowling as she made herself scarce.

Upon seeing the other leaving, Clarissa showed a triumphant smile as she looked at Diamond as if she was seeking approval.

Diamond flashed a grin at Clarissa, making the younger girl smile brighter.

"Okay, sister Lucy. I will find Madam Sawyer and show her my friend," Clarissa obediently agreed after seeing her enemy leaving.

Diamond looked appreciatively at Lucy and gave her a nod before following Clarissa, who could wait already to meet Madam Sawyer.

From what she had heard, Diamond could tell that this Madam Sawyer held a high position. She was probably the host of the exhibition, and Diamond was curious about her.

It was people like Madam Sawyer who knew the way of life. They were also rich, had a wide network of people, and above all, she could seduce them and turn them into her loyal customers.

"Don’t be nervous. Madam Sawyer is a good person. She is also the host for today’s exhibition and the owner of the gallery," Clarissa explained as she maneuvered her way through the crowd.

"I can tell she is a capable person!" Diamond complimented as she looked around.

"Hehe, I will tell you more in detail later," Clarissa promised, as she winked at Diamond.

Diamond shook her head lightly as she found Clarissa to be more daring than she was before.

After passing through a few groups of people, Clarissa suddenly tugged at Diamond’s hand.

"There she is!" Clarissa pointed with her chin in a certain direction.

Diamond looked in that direction and easily found the person that they were looking for.

"Let’s go!" Clarissa urged once again.

Diamond followed and after walking a short distance, the two were standing in front of Madam Sawyer, who was looking at Clarissa with a kind smile on her face.

"Clarissa, you are finally here!" Madam Sawyer softly said, with a doting smile on her face.

Looking at Madam Sawyer, Diamond could tell that these two were acquainted and obviously much closer than she expected.

Clarissa shyly smiled at Madam Sawyer and responded. "Um, I am here now. Sorry for keeping you waiting, Aunty."

Upon hearing that, Diamond finally got the answer that she wanted.

’They are really close!’

Madam Sawyer’s gaze shifted from Clarissa before landing on Diamond, who was standing quietly with a soft smile on her face.

"Is this your guest? The one you invited?" Madam Sawyer asked curiously as she sized Diamond.

Upon hearing that, Clarissa happily pulled Diamond towards her and said to Madam Sawyer.

"Aunt, this is a friend of mine. She is older than me. Don’t be deceived by her appearance. Her name is Diamond, and she is one of the good ones," Clarissa introduced Diamond, but her way of doing so sounded very weird in Diamond’s ears.

’Just what exactly is this kid talking about?’

Upon hearing her niece’s weird introduction. One that she was used to as her niece’s antics were hardly understandable. She smiled warmly at Diamond.

She had spotted this girl the very second; she walked into the gallery. Something about her just called out to her. She didn’t know what it was exactly, but she knew that she wanted to get to know her.

Not only was she dressed in that brand that even she couldn’t afford, but that jewelry was one of a kind.

Her confidence, beauty and calmness made her want to know her more.

"It’s nice to meet you, Diamond. You can call me Madam Sawyer, just like everybody else!" Madam Sawyer introduced herself to Diamond without waiting for Clarissa to finish.

Diamond was taken aback by Madam Sawyer’s enthusiasm. She was expecting her to remain calm and wait for Clarissa to be done before talking to her.

Seeing how welcoming she was, Diamond was also relieved as she could properly just be herself and not maintain a false bravado in other people’s territories.

"It’s a pleasure to meet you, Madam Sawyer. Please take care of me!" Diamond politely said with a smile.

Since the other had welcomed her warmly on the surface, since it was impossible to judge what a person thinks, she returned the favor.

"Hehe, just feel at home. If there is nothing that you don’t understand, just let Clarissa help you," Madam Sawyer said as she pointed at Clarissa with her chin.

Clarissa stuck her tongue playfully at her aunt before looking at Diamond.

"Big sis, just leave it to me!" Clarissa once again promised.

"I will and thank you," Diamond said in gratification as she looked at the pair.

Madam Sawyer was very satisfied with Diamond. Not only was she calm, beautiful, and composed. But she also had manners and didn’t seem to be the kind that loved seeking trouble.

"You are welcome."

Diamond wanted to chat more with Madam Sawyer, but before she could open her mouth to say something, someone came and whispered something in Madam Sawyer’s ears.

After that, the lady excused herself, leaving the two of them with four older women who were looking at Diamond as if they were looking at a fat sheep.

’What are they up to now?’

Diamond simply hoped that no one would cause trouble for her. If she was provoked, she wouldn’t hesitate to attack. And for her, it won’t matter where she was.

She vowed the moment she got bound to the system that she was not going to let herself suffer again.

And no one was going to make her go through any suffering again.

No one!
