SIGNING IN: BEING SHOWERED BY HEAVENLY BLESSINGS FOR FIVE YEARS -
Chapter 134 - 132
Chapter 134: Chapter 132
"I am just trying to say that we should all learn to be humble and show humility wherever we are. What we see are the results that someone achieves after a period of hard work. We tend to ignore the roots and where everything started from. And that’s where we will lose it."
"Just because we can buy branded clothes from malls and all big shops, we flaunt what we have, forgetting that it might be that person that we look down on so much that made that piece of clothing for us."
"Nobles tend to look down on countryside folks, peasants, the commoners and anyone that isn’t rich. But have they ever thought that for them to be nobles, it was exactly those people that made them like that?"
"Everything that the nobles eat in their food as they look down on the commoners all came from the commoners. We eat grains planted and harvested by farmers. And yet we are disgusted by them simply because they spent their majority of time in the fields and sweating."
"They are mostly darker than us, and don’t have smooth skin like us, but is that their fault? They wake up early in the morning and rest late at night. They are concerned about the crops every second of the day. And who are they farming for? Isn’t all for everyone to eat and have their fill?"
"If there weren’t any farmers right now, would we even be eating our fill? I doubt that, but we are simply too ignorant of many things and it just hurts to think about it."
"We always flaunt our riches, mock the commoners on how they don’t know how to appreciate the good food, whether seafood, white or red meat. But have we all forgotten that it’s our fishermen who we always mock that they stink of fish that are making it possible for us to enjoy abalone, clams and those wonderful salmon or tuna?"
"The laborers are busy using their hands to work hard to build, repair and do whatever is required of them. And yet we don’t appreciate it. Instead, we frown whenever we see someone wearing an overall."
"So, what if they are making more money for us? Does it mean that we should act all pompous and look down on them? Who gave us the right to do so? Just as much as they want something from us, which is our money and other benefits that we can give them, we do want them more."
"Hehe, if they weren’t there to slave their life away for us, do you think that we would have all this money to spend and waste like that?" Diamond helplessly chuckled as she said.
"Every single thing you see in life is serving a purpose in life. Just like how ants are important and so are people. Beggars might look bad, but aren’t they clearing the trash for us in some ways?"
"Those cleaning grannies and grandpas, they are busy daily sweeping our roads and picking up trash for us. If they weren’t there, can you imagine how many diseases that would afflict the community?"
The more she thought about how ignorant people tend to be when they become rich, the more infuriated she became.
The twins weren’t saying anything as they followed behind quietly as they digested what Diamond was saying.
"If all these rich people were to write their biographies, I believe that we would all be shocked to see their journey. Just like the street market we are about to reach right now; I believe that a lot of successful business people once started from there."
"They started by opening a street shop. They sell food, clothes and other items that they could find to sell. When business was good, they shifted to shops where they gradually expanded the more successful, they became."
"It’s the same as the white-collar workers. Some of them started by working for others. It took years for some, but they still left to start their own. And now they are their own bosses."
"Some were determined from school and started their business after graduating. Some suffered a lot to be where they are. They didn’t even graduate from high school, most of them were dropouts and yet they are faring well. With hard work, they made it in life and became the people that they are today."
"And then there are the privileged ones. They were born with everything and even if they don’t work, they can still splurge the family’s money and be unable to finish it."
"I am not against anyone in particular. After all, it’s not the rich people’s fault that they were born rich or they worked hard to earn the money. Just because they are rich doesn’t mean that they need to give in to the poor, too."
"The poor can still work hard, grab opportunities and make money to become rich in the future too."
"This might all sound contradictory, but should the rich give in to the poor simply because they are poor? Was it the rich people’s fault that they have money and the poor don’t?"
"What I want to say to you girls at the moment is that just be humble and treat people well. You don’t know the future. Our positions might be reversed tomorrow, and what will we do if something like that happens?"
"I don’t even want to think about it. I don’t want to become that kind of person who will trample on others just because I am rich unless there is a good reason for me to do so."
"I just want to spend my money in peace, be happy and live a worry-free life without offending anyone. Life is already difficult to live, so why should I add more troubles to it?" Diamond sighed deeply as she helplessly said.
She wasn’t just saying it to the twins, but to herself as well. Money can change people and she knew that very well.
At some point, she was at the bottom level of the chain food. She had nothing and the clothes she had were all secondhand. She envied the rich and even hated them. But was it their fault that they were rich and that she was poor?
And just because she was poor back then, was it really necessary for her former classmates to bully her like that?
Who would have known that after a few years, the tables would turn and now she was richer than all the people she knew before?
Although at times she always feels like flaunting her wealth, she has never done so. What her family and the surrounding people knew was just a fraction of it. If she was that pompous, she wouldn’t have done so.
People tend to dig their graves by the actions that they take. She didn’t want to become a good example for others.
She just wanted to make her family live in luxury, start her family with her lovers, and be happy.
"Diamond, you sound like someone with a story!" Precious said with a heavy sigh after listening to Diamond speaking for a while.
Diamond smiled faintly as she recalled the past.
"Who doesn’t have one?"
Diamond didn’t continue with the topic after that, as the three of them had finally reached the street market.
"Just browse around. If you find something that you like, tell me. I will buy it for you!" Diamond was feeling more generous, especially after making her point known to the girls.
As for how they would take it, she didn’t care about it.
She wasn’t the one who approached them first in the beginning, so she didn’t have much to lose.
"You will buy it for us?" Patience asked with disbelief as she looked at Diamond.
Diamond stopped walking and turned to look at the twins with a smile on her face.
"Um, consider this my gift. You came with me to the market, after all."
The twins looked dumbfounded at Diamond. No one except them would understand what they were feeling at that moment.
Seeing the girls’ reactions, Diamond was taken aback. She didn’t understand why they were reacting like that.
’Did I say the wrong thing?’ she couldn’t help but wonder as she looked at the girls.
"Is .... Is there something wrong?" she hesitatingly asked as she looked at them.
Precious hurriedly shook her head as she tried to calm down, sorting her thoughts out, as she didn’t want to expose much about herself.
"No, you didn’t. we weren’t expecting you to buy something for us!" Precious emotionally said with nostalgia.
Diamond still didn’t understand why they were acting like that. It wasn’t a big deal to buy someone something. Besides, the street market was much cheaper than the mall, so why overreact a lot?
"Hehe, your big sister is loaded. Just pick whatever you want. I will spoil you as my meeting gift. How about it?"
