Chapter 109: Chapter 107

Diamond just couldn’t understand why women could be bitter at times.

That woman was glaring at her that hatefully simply because a man she was with started at her?

Why would they make themselves look so sour and desperate like that?

Sometimes it was better for them to just chill and pretend as if they weren’t seeing anything than to suffer due to humiliation once they started retaliating.

That’s how she survived back then when she was latching onto her ex, who broke her heart and shattered it into pieces later.

She used to pretend as if she wasn’t seeing anything and maybe her pretentious acts finally irritated him that he never bothered but shamelessly showed his affair in front of her and many others.

And to think that she was the only one in the dark on top of that, Diamond still felt like a fool.

It was also when combing through such experiences that she vowed to never act desperate to a man. It was going to be the other way around.

They would be the ones begging for her and not her. She wasn’t going to allow a man use to her, stomp on her, or use her weakness to get whatever he wanted.

The biggest weakness that women had was their desire for luxury which they never worked for.

When a woman has everything that she wants, from wealth to fame, that desperation wouldn’t be there at all.

Of course, those who still believed that love existed and that their prince charming was waiting for them might fall into that desperation.

But for her, she was no longer a child who believed in fairy tales. Even if a man were to love her as his life depended on it, she wasn’t going to be swayed by the emotions and let go of her dreams.

She was going to make sure that she was loved by many people. That way, she wouldn’t dedicate her heart, soul, and body to one person. She once did it and it nearly ended her.

She was going to do the more the merrier and if one left, she would replace it with another. She was young, rich, and, above all, beautiful. How would it be possible for her to not find a man?

Diamond’s heels tapped the floor gracefully as she made her way to the restaurant, with all the crazy thoughts swirling in her mind.

When she reached the restaurant, she was glad when she saw that Betty was already waiting for her.

"I have already reserved the table. Please follow me," Betty informed her the second that she saw her.

Diamond nodded her head thankfully at Betty before following the professional woman.

On her way to the table, Diamond couldn’t help but scan secretly over the guests as she tried to gauge who was who and what was what.

The ladies were beautifully dressed, with the majority wearing evening dresses and only a few dressed casually.

The men had either suits or wore casual clothes as well. However, despite which kind of clothes the diners were wearing, Diamond knew that they were all branded and expensive as well.

The table that Betty had reserved for her was in a corner but with a beautiful view of the city and the sky as well.

It was a table for two and at the front and side, there were guests already seated and having a time of their life.

Diamond didn’t feel low just because she would be dining by herself but felt liberated, as she didn’t need to entertain anyone during feeding time.

She really didn’t like it much when she was disturbed when enjoying her meal. Instead of savoring the dishes, she would be forced to talk and listen to another person chattering, and mostly, it would be just sheer bullshit.

After helping her to settle down, Betty took out the menu and handed it over to Diamond.

Diamond began to look attentively at the menu to see what dishes she could order and savor for the night.

After scanning the menu, Diamond was not interested in several course dinner as that would be boring for one person. Instead, she went for the family single menu, where she could just order one meal which she could enjoy fully.

There were several options for her to choose from, so she took her time to pick.

After contemplating for a while, Diamond ended up choosing curried sausages and rice, and a bottle of Pinot Noir. Plus, a starter which she would eat as she waited for the main meal to arrive.

Betty then left after getting the order and moments later, a server came to her table with her starter, a Greek salad consisting of tossed greens, tomato, cucumber, onion, olives, and feta cheese drizzled in red wine.

Faced with such a delicacy, Diamond started to eat each bite more delicious than the previous one.

And since she was concentrating on her food, Diamond had no clue that a few tables away from her, someone was busy looking at her strangely and in a manner that would have made her suspicious.

Somewhere in Dielas.

"Tap, tap, tap."

The continuous knocking filled the room as a man drummed the desk with his left-hand fingers while he smoked, using his right hand.

"Are you not going to stop doing that? You have been at it for a while now!" another male seated opposite the smoking man asked in irritation upon seeing how the other wasn’t stopping.

"I just can’t stop myself. What can I do?" the man smoking helplessly answered as he looked at the other in the dimly lit room.

"Sullivan, what’s really bothering you? I am your manager for crying out loud!" the man asked, Sullivan who was shrouded by the darkness.

Sullivan looked at the man who was his manager for a decade and felt a headache coming.

"It’s complicated. I don’t think that you can manage it!" Sullivan responded as he looked sincerely at the man who had helped him salvage most situations, he had been through in his career.

"Sullivan! You better come clean. You didn’t impregnate some girl that I don’t know of, right?" the manager asked suspiciously, with his eyes narrowed.

Upon hearing that, Sullivan burst out into a peal of laughter as he found that accusation hilarious.

He had not dated in years seriously, though there were a few consented flings until a year ago. However, he was very cautious and even took a family planning injection to stop himself from doing the worst.

"There is no way that could happen, Frank. You know I got the injection two years ago," Sullivan quickly denied the accusation shortly after.

Frank heaved a sigh of relief as he recalled that he was the one who booked the appointment for Sullivan in the first place when he took that shot two years ago.

So, since it wasn’t that, why was Sullivan acting all mysteriously the way he had been doing for the past month?

If it wasn’t that his actions seemed more hurried on that day, Frank wouldn’t have asked.

"Then tell me why. We will help each other to come up with a solution," Frank said in a coaxing tone.

Sullivan sighed deeply as he tossed the cigarette butt in the ashtray.

"I am in love!" Sullivan confessed as he gazed deeply at Frank.

Frank, upon hearing that, rubbed his ears just to make sure that he had heard correctly and his ears weren’t playing games with him.

"You are what? Since when and with whom?" Frank threw the questions at Sullivan upon realizing that the other was serious with how clear and determined his eyes looked.

"Hehe, you don’t know her, and she isn’t from our circle," Sullivan said smilingly as he recalled that beautiful smile that always daunted him every single second.

Seeing Sullivan acting like that, Frank, who once fell in love, got married, started a family, and was still in love, understood Sullivan’s declaration. He confirmed it straight away, and that’s where the problem was.

Sullivan was popular, and he had money. Both men and women liked him. And there were so many people out there who would do anything to be with him.

He had gotten so tired of fending off schemers who were always doing their best to climb into Sullivan’s bed.

And yet from what he was insinuating, according to the manner Sullivan was acting and with how low he had been, he had this feeling that Sullivan was either having a one-sided crush or might have been dumped already.

Those two weren’t good at all, but with a crush, they might find a way to make the woman fall for Sullivan, but if it’s the other, then they were already doomed.

Frank always wanted the best for Sullivan and in all the years he had been with Sullivan, that was the first he heard that Sullivan was in love and admitting it.

It’s not like he never dated or slept around before. He did all those things and yet he had never looked so bothered by the way he was at that moment.

He didn’t want Sullivan’s emotions to affect him, as there was so much to lose if that were to happen.

And since they were tied in one boat, Frank needed to help as much as he could and help his artist get the girl of his dreams.

At least before giving up, they should do everything that they could to make miracles happen.

"It doesn’t matter which circle she is in. Tell me what you need and I will help you get her, no matter the cost."
