Lu Yi smiled without denial. He would soon find out the true purpose of meeting him today.

"Miss Shen, what do you mean by that? I did a good deed in letting you confirm that your daughter is safe, then you just follow my orders obediently, and that’s it. How did it become ill-intended in your eyes?"

Chen Wenzhou smiled, Shen Heyu was smart; she indeed noticed that something was off about the whole situation, but she realized it too late.

"I certainly don’t think President Chen is a man of good heart, and if you had any conscience, you wouldn’t lay a finger on such a small child," Shen Heyu coldly gazed at Chen Wenzhou, her heart growing more anxious as his smile widened.

Hidden under the table, her hand stealthily took out her cellphone, and after pondering for a moment, Shen Heyu finally sent a message.

After the message was sent, Chen Wenzhou casually called out Shen Heyu’s name.

"Miss Shen, I must say you’re quite clever. You guessed right; I did have another purpose for coming to see you today. As for what that purpose is, you’ll know tomorrow."

"But I hope that by tomorrow, no matter what happens, you’ll remain rational and calm. After all, your daughter is still in my hands. If you don’t behave, she’ll be in danger."

"You bastard!" Shen Heyu cursed through gritted teeth as she looked at him. That’s when she finally realized something was amiss, as she began to feel dizzy.

Shen Heyu looked in horror at the glass of soda water on the table that she had taken a sip from, her pupils dilating as she stared at Chen Wenzhou.

"There’s something added to this water."

"Correct, Miss Shen, you’ve finally noticed. I’ve been waiting a long time for you to realize this."

"Well, I’ll tell you. The reason I asked you out today was precisely to drug you. After you fell for it, I planned to lure Lu Yi out, divert his attention in any way, and drug him too."

"When you both are drugged and thrown into a room together, things will surely heat up. If Pei Yansi knows about this, he’d surely be devastated and give up any thoughts of getting back together with you. What do you think of my plan?"

Watching Shen Heyu fall onto the couch, Chen Wenzhou smiled faintly. So what if he was despicable and shameless? As long as he achieved his goal, it was all that mattered.

"This way, my affair with Shen Heyu will be set in stone. Even by tomorrow, the person she’ll hate will only be you, with no clue about my behind-the-scenes scheming."

Lu Yi emerged. He had heard every word of the exchange between Shen Heyu and Chen Wenzhou. Thankfully, before Shen Heyu passed out, Lu Yi had clarified everything with her, ensuring she wouldn’t suspect him upon waking up.

Chen Wenzhou frowned impatiently upon seeing Lu Yi appear.

"Didn’t I tell you to come down half an hour later? It’s been only five or six minutes and here you are, making an appearance. In theory, you should take at least half an hour to get here from your home."
