She Asks for a Divorce Again
Chapter 320: See Her Once

Chapter 320: Chapter 320: See Her Once

Zhao Jing had no time to think; he drove his car to the outside of Shen Jiangli’s villa.

It was rare to see anyone in the villa complex, especially in the cold winter, and even more so when the year-end festivities had not yet concluded, there were even fewer pedestrians outside.

The entire villa complex was quiet and peaceful.

Perhaps it was because of this silence that the two people inside the car immediately saw Han Manyin outside.

At that moment, she was standing on the steps of the villa, craning her neck to look out, as if anxiously waiting for something.

Shen Jiangli looked at her and felt bitter; from her eyes, it was clear that the person she was waiting for was him.

He pulled the door open and got out of the car.

Han Manyin saw him at once.

City snow sealed the ground, the surroundings were covered in white, and he, dressed in a black overcoat with a properly matched suit underneath, took steps towards her.

She rushed towards him and immediately threw herself into his embrace, "Why haven’t you been answering your phone? I heard there was trouble with the company," she said in his embrace, feeling no warmth and not feeling his customary embrace in return, her heart filled instantly with an ominous premonition.

"What happened?" she asked nervously.

Shen Jiangli stared at the intense worry in her eyes, which was genuine—whether it was the anxiety for her future without him or the sincere worry for him, it was enough to strike his soul.

He said gravely, "I am leaving, before that happens, I will make arrangements for you."

Han Manyin frowned deeply upon hearing this.

Initially, at his side, she had indeed sought to climb social ranks and aimed to gain what she wanted from him.

To solidify her own status.

Even Shen Heyu had no way to humiliate her. He had once been the strong tree, a support she had always considered herself to have.

"You’re leaving?" Han Manyin could not dare to imagine what would become of her if he truly left.

Shen Jiangli seemed to know what was on her mind, saying, "I have already arranged for a way out for you, someone will come tomorrow to take you away. I know you have not really lost your memory, you can live according to the life I have prepared for you, and nobody will trouble you."

His words sounded like a farewell.

No, this was a farewell.

For some reason, Han Manyin felt a sudden sourness in her nose; at the beginning, she had only been with him for personal gain, hadn’t she? But why now did she vividly feel the sour ache at her heart?

She bit down on her lip hard, wanting to say something more, but Shen Jiangli no longer gave her the chance.

He turned away and left without even a single goodbye.

Of course, Han Manyin had not forgotten her original intention. She was with him for the benefits, so she did not foolishly follow him but instead called out to his retreating figure,

"Where are you going? How should I do it if I want to see you?"

But Shen Jiangli did not want to see anyone here again; he longed for a brand new start, a brand new life, even if that place was the madhouse, a dreadful place.

Perhaps, for him, that was the best outcome; he wouldn’t have to face Shen Heyu.

Nor would he have to face the mistakes he had made.

So he didn’t respond to her words but instead got into the car and then said to Zhao Jing, "Let’s go."

Zhao Jing looked at him through the rearview mirror, noticing the rouge tint in his eyes as if there was a shimmer of tears. She couldn’t help but ask, confused, while driving, "Why don’t you tell her?"

Although Pei Yansi punished him for this matter, dealing with him harshly, he merely imprisoned him in the madhouse, with no more chances to get close to Shen Heyu. However, he never mentioned depriving him of his rights to say goodbye to others.

Especially for people like Han Manyin, who posed no threat to Pei Yansi, he wouldn’t bother at all.

Shen Jiangli shook his head, replying, "I don’t know either. I just feel like, if I don’t see anyone, my life might be better."

Zhao Jing didn’t say anything else, struggling to find the right words to comfort him.

On the other side, Pei Yansi left and went straight back to his office.

He pushed open the door of the resting room to find Shen Heyu lying on the bed, her eyes tightly shut, her complexion pale, yet her beautiful forehead was covered with a fine layer of sweat.

Pei Yansi frowned, carefully closing the door before walking over to the bed to check her temperature with his hand.

The moment he touched her skin, he felt as if she were a blazing furnace, alarmingly hot to the touch.

He noticed Shen Heyu with her eyes still closed, slumbering deeply, but even so, her brow was furrowed tightly, as if she was not at peace even in her dreams.

Patting Shen Heyu’s cheek, he asked, "Do you feel any better? You’re very hot, do you have a fever?"

She and Shen Jiangli had spent a long time on the rooftop today.

She was exposed to a strong cold wind and was drenched in heavy snow. Catching a cold and having a fever would be nothing out of the ordinary.

Unfortunately, the Shen Heyu of the moment felt dizzy and generally unwell, her body exceptionally hot; she couldn’t take in anything Pei Yansi was saying.

She lay on the bed unresponsive.

Pei Yansi’s brows knit tighter, his worry for her surging in his heart. He quickly fetched a thermometer and placed it in her mouth.

He also personally contacted a doctor to come over.

The doctor arrived half an hour later.

The rather spacious resting room seemed cramped because of the two tall, lanky men.

Shen Heyu remained unconscious on the bed, her face growing whiter, her breathing weak. Heavily weighted, yet scorching hot.

Typical fever symptoms.

After checking Shen Heyu’s temperature and setting up an IV drip for her, the doctor turned to Pei Yansi and said, "She’s just caught a chill, which has led to the fever. After the IV drip and taking medicine on time, avoiding raw, cold, and spicy foods, she should recover in a few days."

Pei Yansi nodded, watching as the doctor left.

Once he was gone, Pei Yansi sat by the bed again, silently watching Shen Heyu’s face.

She was feverish, her body still seemingly as frail as before.

Remembering how a doctor had once mentioned that she was malnourished, Pei Yansi, to this day, still felt frustrated. The notion that Mrs. Pei is malnourished reflected poorly on him, not Shen Heyu.

As if the colossal Pei Family did not possess the means to provide sufficient nutrition for Shen Heyu.

He stayed by the bed, watching over Shen Heyu.

Time seemed to blur, and eventually, the sky outside darkened into night, spilling over like ink. The heavy night stretched boundlessly beyond the window, endless and unseen.

Pei Yan kept vigil until late into the night. His head began to throb with fatigue, and as he leaned against the back of his chair, closing his eyes for a brief respite, he suddenly felt his arm tighten.

Startled, he opened his eyes to see Shen Heyu still with her eyes shut, but her hands had clung to him. Her brows were tightly drawn, and it seemed like tears were escaping from the corners of her eyes as she spoke urgently, "Don’t leave me behind..."
