Chapter 318: Chapter 318 Seizing the Opportunity to Ask

"Remember what you’re saying now, don’t worry, I won’t touch you. I’m just going to give you a hot bath," Yansi took off her coat and casually placed it on the coat rack beside him. He then proceeded to remove her inner clothing.

Seeing Heyu still tensing her body, looking scared—so frightened she barely dared to move—Yansi added, "Just a pure bath. When have I ever lied to you, Pei Yansi? I always keep my word."

Hearing this, Heyu finally relaxed quite a bit.

As her clothes fell away one by one, she heard Yansi whisper in her ear, "However, I also hope you will remember what you said today. Keep your word, don’t deceive me."

Heyu nodded.

In truth, she wasn’t thinking much at all at the moment; she was only focused on how to escape his grasp. As for the future, no one could be certain.

Yansi kept observing her expression, and it seemed like he figured out what she was thinking. He let out a cold laugh to remind her, "You should know the consequences of deceiving me. I suggest you be a little more obedient."

Upon hearing his warning laced with indifference, Heyu didn’t dare to move anymore. She didn’t dare to harbor any other thoughts either.

After more than half an hour, Yansi finally finished bathing her. There were no clothes for her in the rest area, so he wrapped her entirely in his bathrobe and carried her out.

He placed her on the soft bed and then lay down beside her.

As soon as Yansi lay next to her, Heyu tensed up.

Ignoring her panic, he forcefully pulled her into his embrace from behind. As he inhaled her fragrance, his low voice said, "Stay away from him from now on. I won’t be lenient with him this time, and I hope I won’t hear you pleading for him."

Heyu didn’t speak.

In fact, she couldn’t find the words to argue with him.

She knew that she was actually frightened by today’s events, even more so than last time. After all, when she was hanging in mid-air, her only thought was that if she couldn’t get back up, she would never see her daughter again.

Her decision to go with Shen Jiangli today had been far too reckless.

"What do you want to do to him?" Heyu asked.

Yansi wrapped his arm around her slim waist and his palm lightly caressed her abdomen as he rotated it back and forth. His voice was lazy as he said, "What, do you pity him? Want to find out in advance what will happen to him?"

"No," Heyu said, "I’m afraid that your methods won’t be cruel enough and he won’t pay the price he deserves. So I want to be clear."

Yansi was stunned for a moment at her words, not expecting her to say something like that. But he was still not convinced and wanted to confirm her thoughts about Shen Jiangli, "Weren’t you still talking about six years of feelings? Can you let go of that so easily now?"

Heyu frowned.

She could tell that Yansi was jealous and angry.

His tone was starting to sound sarcastic.

But she was indeed so frightened by today’s events that she had no mood to argue with him. She conceded, "That was before, but now my heart has gone cold."

Yansi hummed in acknowledgment and held Heyu tighter, telling her, "I will deal with him. You get some rest. Don’t be scared, I’ll stay right here with you."

His voice was very tender, rich in tone, steady and pleasant to listen to, giving a strong sense of security.

In his arms, Heyu could feel his warmth. Perhaps because she was so shaken by today’s scare, she felt extremely exhausted and soon fell asleep.

Listening to the soft and prolonged breathing of the woman in his arms, Yansi glanced at her to see her sleeping peacefully, calm and beautiful.

The sunlight coming through the window fell on her face, casting a soft, white glow on her.

He felt his heart stirring, increasingly unable to let go of the tender affection he felt for her. He gently leaned down and, without any desire, kissed her forehead.

Then he carefully got out of bed so as not to disturb her and quietly left the resting room.

In the outer office, Zhao Jin was already waiting.

Pei Yansi approached and draped on his overcoat, asking, "Where is he?"

"In the garage," Zhao Jin replied. "There are bodyguards guarding the place, but it’s still not good for us to make a move. After all, he’s President Shen. His status is not ordinary, and if we lay a hand on him, it could create an uproar."

Pei Yansi pondered for a moment, then stood up and left.

Zhao Jin followed behind him.

The lighting in the garage was dim; Pei Yansi’s car was parked in a distant spot reserved for him. He saw that around his car, seven or eight bodyguards were tightly positioned.

He walked over and approached the side of the car.

The windows were tightly closed, treated with special privacy measures, so he couldn’t see Shen Jiangli from this vantage point.

Zhao Jin opened the car door for him.

He glanced at Shen Jiangli in the back seat. Even inside the car, there were two bodyguards on either side of him, guarding as if afraid he would try to escape.

When Shen Jiangli saw him approaching, he looked up indifferently, his face expressionless and without any reaction.

Pei Yansi gave a signal to the two bodyguards.

The bodyguards dispersed to the side and stepped out of the car.

And they also closed the rear door.

Pei Yansi settled into the passenger seat, with Shen Jiangli behind him. Neither could reach the other, and neither made a move.

Zhao Jin shut the car door from the outside, and the interior was silent, only the sound of their breathing could be heard.

Lit by the faint light from outside, Shen Jiangli gazed at his strikingly handsome profile, nearly perfect. Thinking that this man would spend his life by Shen Heyu’s side stirred an unpleasant feeling inside him.

Yet for some reason, when he thought of this, the face that popped into his mind was Han Manyin’s.

"Is there nothing you want to say?" Pei Yansi took the initiative to speak. As he spoke, he lit a cigarette.

The smoke filled the car, and Shen Jiangli said, "I don’t think there’s anything for me to say to President Pei. After all, no matter what I say, President Pei wouldn’t care."

Pei Yansi let out a cold laugh. He took a harsh drag from his cigarette before saying, "Knowing that, why did you still dare to behave that way towards Heyu?"

"Do you believe me if I say I just lost control for a moment?"

"Do you think I do?"

"President Pei would."

"Correct," Pei Yansi exhaled a ring of smoke, looking outside the car window, "I do believe that. Heyu mentioned that you have occasional lapses in your mental state, and you can lose control from time to time. Of course, I believe her. But it’s precisely because I believe her that you should guess where I’ll be sending you next."

When Shen Jiangli heard his last sentence, a sudden chill seized him. Normally, he wasn’t afraid of him, but times had changed, and he suddenly experienced the taste of fear.

"What are you planning to do to me?" he asked.

Pei Yansi said, "I know about Shen Fanshuang’s matter, and so does she. Everything I am doing to you today is in accordance with her wishes."
