Back in the office, Pei Yansi carried Shen Heyu into the separate rest room.

Not much filled the rest room, but it had enough for everyday rest and living. During the six years that Shen Heyu was gone, Pei Yansi would stay here whenever he didn’t go home.

Thus, the room held many of his personal items, but they were all very simple.

He placed Shen Heyu on the bed, pulled the comforter up over her, and then reached out to touch her face, "Cold? Do you feel any better now?"

When he was holding her earlier, he could distinctly feel the coldness of her body.

Originally, he had asked Zhao Jin to follow, but at the time, Shen Jiangli’s emotions were too agitated, and Zhao Jin did not dare to act on his own, fearing it would enrage him and result in irreparable actions.

It was a matter of waiting for the right opportunity to catch Shen Jiangli and rescue her.

"It’s okay," Shen Heyu responded with difficulty to Pei Yansi’s blatant care and proximity as she dodged his gaze.

Pei Yansi placed her in the bathtub, took the showerhead, adjusted the water temperature, and then began to fill the tub with hot water.

The hot water continually poured over her body, and Shen Heyu did feel the warmth. She was not prudish about wanting to strip down and enjoy a hot bath, but then she glanced at Pei Yansi beside her.

She lowered her eyes and whispered, "Can you step out first?"

"No," Pei Yansi directly refused without even thinking, squatting beside her bathtub, filling it with water, his slender fingers skimmed the water, then ladled the water onto Shen Heyu’s body.

Of course, he knew why she had said that, and he didn’t look at her, simply speaking for himself, "I’ve seen every part of your body, no need to be a stranger with me; if you want to undress, just do it, I’ll wash you."

He said it without even blushing, whereas Shen Heyu blushed furiously. She stole a few glances at him but remained still.

Pei Yansi frowned, watching her, "What, you’re shy in front of me, but you leave with Shen Jiangli without a care for your safety? That’s quite an obvious double standard."

Shen Heyu was not pleased hearing him say that, "How would I know there would be danger in going with him? After all, we had a relationship for six years. How could I know he wouldn’t care at all? I thought he really wanted to..."

"Apologize to you?"

Pei Yansi cut her off before she could finish, he already knew what she wanted to say, and he sneered sarcastically, "Have you forgotten what he did to you last time in Jiang City?"

Shen Heyu pursed her lips, "No."

That event, and the fear she felt then, were still vivid in her mind; she would never forget it.

Hearing her words, Pei Yansi looked at her intently, "Then how could you not foresee what would happen today?"

"I was desperately trying to keep you here, to stop him from taking you away, yet you chose to go with him. You ignore me, and you don’t even consider your safety as the priority. Do you know what would’ve happened today if I hadn’t caught you?"

Pei Yansi’s voice grew colder, and his gaze on her heavier.

His face was full of anger, and the atmosphere around him was so cold it might as well have been below zero. Reaching out to tear off Shen Heyu’s clothes, she was too scared to undress, so he decided to help her.

Shen Heyu, however, thought he intended to punish her. She instinctively shrank back, speaking nervously, "How could I know that any of this would happen? Even if there were difficulties before, I had no idea! After all, I trusted him!"

"You can’t apply that ’victim-blaming’ logic to me and then want to punish me!"

As she spoke, she clutched her collar tightly and dodged Pei Yansi’s hand.

To her, it felt like a devil’s claw.

Pei Yansi’s brows furrowed even more deeply.

She actually dared to dodge him?

Didn’t she realize he was furious?

His gaze turned colder, and he reached out, grabbing Shen Heyu’s wrist and yanking her toward him.

He pulled with force, and Shen Heyu, caught off guard, stumbled directly into his arms, splashing water all around.

A good amount of it even splashed onto Pei Yansi’s body, his face, and even his lips.

His expression remained unchanging, unbothered, even though his coat was thoroughly soaked. He ignored it and pressed Shen Heyu firmly to his chest.

Shen Heyu was terrified.

Remembering the man’s frenzy from the night before, she was still heart-palpitatingly fearful. She didn’t want anything like that to happen with him again, especially not after just surviving a close call.

She wasn’t in the mood at all.

She struggled furiously in his arms, resisting more stubbornly than ever before.

This clearly displeased the man. Holding Shen Heyu against him, he found her ear and said in a cold voice, "Move again and see. I’ll make it so you can’t get out of bed for three days..."

Shen Heyu was startled.

She believed he could do it and was frightened into staying still in his arms. She said anxiously, "Yansi, please don’t do this. I know I was wrong. I won’t make decisions on my own and go off with someone else again..."

Looking at Shen Heyu’s red ears by his lips, Pei Yansi felt a sudden urge. Without thinking, he leaned forward and captured her earlobe with his teeth.

A tingling sensation spread suddenly from her earlobe, leaving Shen Heyu unprepared and she trembled in his embrace.

Pei Yansi let out a low laugh, but there was no warmth in it. He didn’t intend to do anything to her; he just wanted to honestly give her a hot bath to make her feel more comfortable and not so cold.

However, since she was thinking along those lines and willing to lower herself for him, how could he not seize this opportunity to demand more benefits from her...

With this in mind, he still bit her earlobe, his words slightly slurred, "Will you really not go off with other men from now on?"
