Chapter 313: Agree to Him

Chapter 313: Chapter 313: Agree to Him

Shen Jiangli suddenly felt a pang in his chest with this realization.

He pursed his lips and gazed silently at Shen Heyu, who still had the face he remembered, without any change.

Yet, her gaze was so cold, devoid of any emotion, as though he had become a stranger whom she couldn’t be more unfamiliar with.

Although Shen Heyu had already refused, she saw that he still hadn’t left. Impatient, she raised her head and frowned at him, saying, "President Shen, what else do you want?"

"I want to talk to you further," Shen Jiangli replied firmly, his eyes never leaving her. He hadn’t glanced at Pei Yansi who was beside him and naturally missed the warning in his eyes.

But Shen Jiangli couldn’t care about that anymore, whether it was a warning or a threat, he had no room to worry.

All he wanted now was to salvage his emotional connection with Shen Heyu and to start by asking her to plead on his behalf in front of Pei Yansi, hoping that perhaps Shen Group would still have a chance.

The company’s situation was dire; he couldn’t imagine what Pei Yansi might do next.

And whether the group could continue to establish itself domestically, but it all hinged on using Shen Heyu.

To exploit his relationship with her to the fullest extent.

Before that, he needed to clear up her misunderstandings about him. The past grudges had to be resolved, or she wouldn’t be willing to help him.

Seeing that she was still unmoved, he couldn’t restrain himself and took a few steps forward.

Just then, Pei Yansi suddenly stood up from his office chair. He stepped forward a few paces, blocking Shen Jiangli’s path.

Two tall, solid men were suddenly about to face each other, equally matched, yet both saw the fierce coldness in each other’s eyes.

But Pei Yansi’s eyes held an even more dangerous and fierce warning as he coldly said to Shen Jiangli, "President Shen, don’t do anything out of line. You should know, she’s now my wife."

The two men were almost of equal height, dressed in nearly identical suits. Watching them confront each other face to face, Shen Heyu found, somewhat surprisingly, that the scene was rather... pleasing to the eye.

She took the opportunity to sit in Pei Yansi’s chair, casually picked up a dessert from his desk, and began savoring it while watching the men fight like immortals.

Interesting.

Although she didn’t understand what they were arguing about.

Shen Jiangli didn’t respond to Pei Yansi’s words, nor did he heed the warning and threat in his eyes, his gaze swept past Pei Yansi to look at Shen Heyu and said,

"There’s no inappropriate behavior, Heyu and I have been friends for many years, and I just want to talk to her alone."

The atmosphere between the two was tense, as if the air might turn bloody at any second. Pei Yansi snorted coldly and without responding pointed towards the door, "Safe travels, you won’t be escorted out."

Shen Jiangli still didn’t move.

Impatient, Pei Yansi stopped talking to him and turned around to dial Zhao Jing on the internal line.

Soon Zhao Jing arrived with two security guards and said to Shen Jiangli, "President Shen, please leave immediately or don’t blame us for getting physical."

Shen Jiangli ignored them, his gaze still fixed determinedly on Shen Heyu, "Give me a chance, I really have something I want to say to you..."

Before Shen Heyu could speak, Pei Yansi had already signalled to Zhao Jing. The two bodyguards immediately stepped forward, grabbed Shen Jiangli from both sides, and began dragging him out, saying fiercely,

"President Shen, after all, is a prominent figure. It’s probably not good to make a scene in President Pei’s office like this!"

"Yes, President Shen, making a big scene wouldn’t look good!"

Two bodyguards dragged Shen Jiangli outside, his gaze firmly fixed on Shen Heyu. He could break free from them at any moment if he wanted to, given his background on the streets, but right now he made no attempt to struggle, simply letting them pull him out.

"If you still remember the days we’ve had together over these six years, I hope you can give me the opportunity to explain. But if you really don’t care anymore..."

Shen Jiangli stopped there, understanding that pushing too hard could have the opposite effect and did not continue.

He knew all too well that Shen Heyu had always been soft-hearted. Playing the emotional card would definitely make her turn back.

Yet, Pei Yansi never understood this; he always dealt with her with a heavy hand and a cold heart, which was why he never received a warm response from her.

As expected, Shen Heyu did not disappoint him. The next second, she loudly called out, "Wait!"

Knowing Shen Heyu’s unusual emotional significance to Pei Yansi, upon hearing this, the two bodyguards stopped their actions and did not further drag Shen Jiangli, but instead looked to Pei Yansi, waiting for his instruction.

Pei Yansi’s frown deepened, nearly instantaneously as she spoke. He glanced sideways, his cold gaze fixed on her.

What is this woman doing?

Could it be that even now, she still holds hope for Shen Jiangli?

Pei Yansi pressed his lips tightly together, his jaw clenched tautly, as he stared at Shen Heyu and asked in a harsh tone, "What do you want to do?"

Shen Heyu stood up from her seat and looked at him, saying, "I have something to say to him."

"What else is there for you to say to him?" Pei Yansi’s tone grew increasingly unfriendly, and his voice colder, as he approached her and firmly grasped her hand, gazing deeply at her.

The warning in his eyes was very clear, subtly tinged with a threat.

He did not want her talking to other men.

Especially men like Shen Jiangli, who still harbored intentions towards her.

Shen Heyu saw the threat in his eyes but couldn’t let go of what she had just heard from Shen Jiangli.

He had indeed helped her a lot over these six years.

Whether abroad or domestically, or even when she initially managed to safely leave Pei Yansi’s side, it was all thanks to his assistance.

It wasn’t just that—there was also the matter involving Shen Fanshuang that she wanted to clarify in person, perhaps today was the best opportunity.

"I’m afraid that’s not something I can share with President Pei," Shen Heyu coldly shot back at him.

She clearly saw the icy chill in Pei Yansi’s eyes after her words.

He stared at her silently for a while before abruptly letting out a cold laugh and releasing Shen Heyu from his grip, coldly saying,

"Fine, it’s inconvenient, is it? I’ll let you go."

After saying this, he walked past her and sat down on the leather sofa nearby, casually lighting a cigarette.

All the while, his gaze never left her, the intensity of his look making Shen Heyu feel uneasy inside.

Shen Heyu had never known she could be so afraid of him, suddenly regretting her impulsiveness.
